In my teen and 20’s, i liked to dress to stand out - like, i bought pieces that no one had, or that was limited, just to be ‘different’.
Now that i’m on the wrong side of my 30’s, i really don’t care about standing out. I buy and wear pieces that make me feel cool and comfortable - and i really don’t care if 10 million people like the same things i do, hype or not.

You will never catch me dead in those cropped tops. Some fashions aren’t for everyone. I also don’t like no skinny jeans. I grew up in a time where those jeans were for rocker dudes that had death metal shirts on and girls who wanted to show off their shapes.

As far as workwear goes Carhartt is nr 1 for ages followed by Dickies and Ben Davis but I think Stan Ray who makes fantastic items deserves a huge shout out and something you need to check out. Would like to add carpenter and painter pants is gonna make a comeback also from mainstream brands like Levis and Lee.

Fashion is about aesthetics and some people like the aesthetics of distressing and don't want to wait a decade for something to look the way they want. It's pretty simple really.

There was a moment where I briefly considered buying a pair of Jordan 1's just to destress them by hand myself. Now whenever I see people purposely scuffing up and yellowing their sneakers, I just think ahead to like 2025 when that trend is dead and people are trying to re-clean their sneakers that they purposely fucked up. 😂

your video brings bout some interesting points. the big houses like margiela and simons and so forth don't adopt/move design up from street. randomly patched varsity jackets - opening ceremony, 2012. cropped jackets - raf simons, 2006 and rick owens, 2008. distressed sneakers - golden goose, 2012, margiela, way back?. boxy t - kenzo, etude and like every other designer since 2014.

I love the workwear jacket trend. I have at least 5 carhartt jackets and heavy duty canvas workpants all from at least 2 years back when i was working construction and landscaping, they're all pretty beat up and faded. But now people are wearing them as a fashion statement? Yell yeah, i dont even have to spend a dime on this trend because im already "on trend" for at least 4 years now lmfao
