Good Day From Trinidad and Tobago. Wow that is a lot of Info and Settings. Thanks for the video, very detailed and informative. But it makes you miss the stereo from the 90's with just volume, on and off and a 3 band bass, trebble and Highs EQ. LOL.
if you can in the future, show us a profile view of the device , a side view sticking out of a double din dash. Id like a headunit thats as close as possible to the bezel, while not protruding so much.
I just picked up one of these, it's decent, but one of my personal pet peeves after installing it is the lack of customization on the splash screen (the screen you see when it starts up). This was a feature on previous models but for whatever reason they decided to remove it on this unit, very disappointing...
Some factory radios have door lock feature controls and other settings to the vehicle so if you replace that with a unit like this that's out the door. So ends up you keep the factory radio but up grade everything else.
The ilx-f309 works with the iDatalink Maestro that can help with that.
If I install this into a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, will it connect to my Bluetooth and be able to use the microphone that is already factory in the Wrangler? Or will I have to use the microphone that comes with the Halo9?

I have had my ilx-259 for a couple of years now and I’ve run into a problem. The battery in my truck died and after installing the new battery in my truck I cannot get the unit to power on and stay powered on. Do you know why this might be happening. It’s powers on for about 5 seconds but the display never turns on. Please help!

With the ilx-F259, am I able to keep the factory GPS/Navigation of a 2019 Toyota Highlander? Its the GPS/Navigation that shows up in the dash display, which has the compass and street names.
Thanks for the detailed review. Just a quick question regarding foot brake. I noticed that the settings icon gets grayed out when the car is moving. And available again when I stopped at the lights. Can I just wire this to ground? A bit painful that I can't tune my music when driving. Sometimes I like to tune them to suit what I'm listening at the time :)

Is it true that the sound quality of this unit is not that good? I've seen a few customers complaining that the audio quality itself is not that good and the whole reason why I want to upgrade from my stock head unit is that I want much better audio quality. I have a nice JL 5 channel amp and sub as well as Focal speakers and I want something that sounds GREAT.
Wish they would have kept maestro and make the screen so I don’t have to put he radio right behind the screen as my 2016 charger has no real good option to change factory radio.

The screen is a glare magnet. It looks great in the show room but when it's in your car it's a different story. Looks great when viewed straight on but the viewing angle sucks. Very disappointing that Alpine could not do better with a true contrast and brightness control. At times I cannot see the screen with certain sun light.

What about playing movies or videos
Had one put in me new Acadia. After the coolness of the display wore off the sound quality was not that good. I had CarToys install new Focal speakers, an Alpine 4 ch amp. Sub Woofer ect It still has noise especially in the vocals ranges.
this is troubling since I am looking at getting one of these. I have Focal Speakers, a JL 5 channel amp and a JL sub. I have a stock head unit and need something with good sound quality.

Installer says I need additional parts to have this installed: Radio kit harness and antenna. WTF. 600 bucks and then more parts to complete installation? Why not include everything? I have mine still in box and it’s going back to Amazon.

Hey what's up guys? Fellow floridian here (Daytona) . I got a alpine ilx f259. In a 2011 ford F-150. With the idatalink maestro rr... How the heck do I get youtube on this baby? Also my plug for my android sucks... It disconnects sometimes and sounds alot more powerful when it's plugged in rather than bluetooth mode. Please help me out

Are you able to view videos from your phone on this unit while connected also how do you upload your own photos?
JHURT my alpine screen (regular double din) had to have a bypass installed in order to view video while driving. I assume these newer ones do too. It's wired so that it only plays video in park/neutral. You can buy the bypass chip on amazon, wires in place of the cars wiring. Colors match, easy install. It's like $6. Makes it play DVD/video at any time. Not sure if it's compatible with Bluetooth video though but I assume so. You can still wire in a reverse camera easily, it's wire is a separate wire
To add my cars logo to the background I had to covert the pics to a certain format (I forget which), put the pics onto a flash drive, plug it into the usb on the radio, then you can select them in the menus and set background, etc.
I just got this unit and have it all wired up except for the parking brake wire and I can’t get my settings to unlock and get my sub connected and working the rca and remote turn on wire are all connected correctly. What issue am I having? Does the parking brake wire have to be connected to something and if so what do I connect it to? It’s installed in a 08 Scion tC
What i have done on older car dvd players was to just ground that wire. Some of these newer radios look for power instead of grounds so just double check there is no voltage coming out of it with a voltmeter or test light.

Beware. Purchased in November so that I could use Apple Car Play in my 2007 Tundra. I’m a contractor and need hands free and navigation. It worked pretty well...it would randomly disconnect and not recognize my iPhone 7 so I would have to shut my truck down and restart (and yes, I have iOS 13 and keep it updated). In December, my wife gave me an iPhone 11Pro to update my iPhone 7...now, CarPlay does NOT work. Audio, glitches out and calls are actually in slow motion (I have NO IDEA how that happens). I have searched numerous blogs and this seems to be a problem with iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max that neither Apple nor Alpine want to address. For a stereo over $800.00, I would have hoped for a better customer experience

Call me ignorant but this looks like Chinese Android HU with a brand on it. It looks so cheap and ugly. Very low res and the software looks like windows 98.
The only two things I like are
1. The buttons layout, you have dedicated mute button and microphone button both on the left side which make sense for the driver. Also a next and previous button is really useful. I don’t understand why Pioneer and Kenwood are not doing this its so simple yet very convenient to mute the volume with a single click on the left side of the screen not hold and mute whatever the shape of the button these companies are using.
2. Settings. This what settings should look like. Everything is customizable and well laid out. It looks like your smartphone settings, I like it and I like that it gives you feedback if you did something wrong like parking brake wire. Some people actually spend weeks and money not knowing what’s wrong with their head unit and it could be something so silly like a wire or default setting.
As always great review and details. I’m hyped for the new 8” Pioneer screen.
chinese head units in the same style look a lot better than this.

give me this for my 2011 camaro! Put an optical audio output and BT 5 and you got a sale. Customizable chime would be nice with the wiring kit too. That way it can be more "normal and not just a click style"
