    Would be great if Tentbox did a cover with a zip around for the 1.0 plus a double mattress topper for the 1.0 also I've found out the mattress gets condensation underneath, after 2 nights in the Lake District, I checked underneath and it was wet through... Dry Matt should really go with all Tentbox's

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před rokem +1

      Yeah agree on the mattress. I had to buy a dry matt for my Cargo. The new Cargo models have ventilation holes under the mattress in the base but I didn't notice them on the Lite 2.0, so i'm assuming they won't be on the XL either. We do our best though.
      The fact that new mattress is waterproof will help. I had my old cargo mattress stored in the garage all winter as I pulled it out in December and it was soaking.
      Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching :-)

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@markplenty2631 So the upside to security screws is that they’ll deter the average chancer. The downside is that if someone is set on taking it, they’ll likely damage your car in the process of removing the tent by force, by either angle grinder or crow bar. Then you’ve got another problem dealing with car insurance.
      The alarm is great. Hella loud and will be a great audible warning/deterrent to attract attention and hopefully put the committed thief off.
      Ultimately, insure it for piece of mind 👍🏻

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah, campervans are just so expensive these days. At least with the roof tent you can just run it on your normal car and yes, there will be a slight loss in mpg but it’s still nothing compared to the cost involved with running a campervan

      The lights are the pro connect festoon lights from Lights4fun. They're great but are plug powered so need a power bank of some sort, just so you know. They are bright though which is good.
      Spots wise... the Park4night app is a great start. You just need to check and see if they're suitable but there's a lot of cool places on there.

    Hi there, what a great review video! I’ve got 2 questions though which isn’t been talked about in this video. How is condensation with this tent? And how is warmth (is there material on this tent, that blocks the sun from heating up the inside in summers)?
    Would love to hear from you!
    Thanks in advance
    Would love to hear something about that

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hello! so condensation wise, we’ve not experienced any at all. I mentioned it a little more in my XL review, but there’s much better ventilation in these tents. I’ll update in the spring after I’ve done some winter camping to see if it’s any different in the cold weather.
      To answer your second question, I think it’s like many other tents in that regard. it will warm up in the summer and be colder in the winter.
      In the trip we did round Europe this summer, we left a couple of doors open for ventilation, but when you’re lying in the tent and it’s really sunny outside, the tent does provide an element of shelter from the sun. We just had a little USB fan running at the same time together with some airflow from the doors at each end. Worked a treat.
      I can’t say for certain whether the darker colour tent does a better job of protecting from the Sun than the orange colour, but I feel it does.
      For winter camping, we’ve purchased the thermal kit which we’ll be trying out this winter. This is supposed to help keep the heat in but again, i’ll do another video once I’ve tested this out 👍🏻

      There’s lots of walking trails and it’s good for cycling too with New Forest on the doorstep.
      Food options were good also. I took everything to cook but then they had a pizza van on the first night and i ordered a lovely curry delivered to the campsite on the second night which was recommended. Both were wonderful.

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před rokem +1

      @@AL-dh9sf So if we’re staying on campsites we tent to just leave everything up and cycle/use buses to explore, where if we’re roadtripping and moving on one night to the next, we tend to keep it simple with what we use.
      When on campsites we can put the awning out etc, but more things that unpack leads to longer pack away, so some night it’s just literally the tent and that’s it.
      I guess it just depends on the situation but not a chore, it just is what it is. Still less faffy than packing away a traditional tent 😊

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před 11 měsíci

      Yeah super easy… so the rainfly cover has clear plastic covers over where the skylights are. You can open and close the skylights themselves from inside the tent. There’s an outer cover (on the tent) and the bug netting too, both of which can be opened, closed and tied up with toggles from inside.

      @@ronrammelle4735 Yeah that’s correct. It fit with the brackets down and I could open the doors with the awning out, just the cover hanging down that’s it 👍🏻

      I have one more suggestion, I have got 6 t-track bolts and some nut eyelets the brackets have 3 holes drilled into each one. T-track the awning brackets to the roof bars facing up as you would, once on site set the tent up loosen the t-track bolts slide awning out (still attached to the bars ) install the hood poles slide back awning and tighten bolts. Set awning up, downside only 2 brackets holding the awning in place but 3 anchor points on each ( the t-track bolts ). I feared this would happen so I’ve ran through every possibility in my head to get around this issue.

      I just put mine down at the bottom of the tent. Some people store them in a bag that hangs on the outside but I just keep mine in the tent with me 👍🏻

      Thank you, but seems the bag for putting shoes outside tent is small and shoes can't fit in. And it is only one bag, when it carries two people, the other person will have no where to put shoes

      @@edwinalexander1170 Yeah those boot bags aren’t huge. We used to have one with our Cargo though and never had a problem. You could use two bags if you have two people, but we just put them up in the tent with us and hang them at the bottom end so they’re up and out of the way 👍🏻

    What do you prefer the cargo or 2.0?

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před 10 měsíci

      Hmm Oh that’s a tough one. It’s not a simple choice, but if it was between the Cargo and the 2.0… i think the cargo.
      If it’s between the Cargo and the XL… the XL. For me the size of the XL trumps the cargo, but the cargo’s a great tent.

    The flexible poles that support the rain fly look quit bendy/flimsy. How would they fair in the wind?

    • @ChocChipTravels
      @ChocChipTravels  Před 11 měsíci +1

      I can’t say personally as i’ve not slept in the wind, but the poles on the 2.0/XL are much stronger than on the 1.0. They do take a little flex to put in so they’re not coming out easily. Plus, the whole tent is rated up to gale force 8, so it’ll do fine unless you end up in a tornado 🌪️

      @@ChocChipTravels I can buy a perfectly good tent for 100 pounds. It is lighter I can pitch it anywhere. I don't need to climb ladders to get into it. It is not attached to my car so I can still use the car when my tent is set-up. I don't have additional drag from the roof box. These are a novelty a joke useless. There is not one benefit.
