Not bad, lunch after 5 and a half minutes worth of work! Another reason to want your job! Those were the best looking intermediate body styles in the mid sixties!

I had a 65 Satellite 426 Wedge automatic. The car was Ruby Red Metallic with a white hardtop . I sold it about 10 years ago. Big mistake. I miss it till this day. Great car!

I had a 65 wedge sleeper in dark blue with hub caps. Had a factory hurst 4-speed. I worked at a Dodge dealer in western PA, parts department, in the early 70's. I found a brand new crated wedge full block motor in Chrysler's inventory for $150 bucks! I couldn't believe it. They weren't manufacturing them anymore so they discounted them just to get them out of the warehouse. I bought it, put it in the trunk, and sold the car for $500. I needed the money. The foolish dumb things we do when we were young. Kick myself everytime I think about it!

I had an identical 65 Satellite to this one, except for the engine. Mine was the 318. But the original owner ordered it with the Hemi 727 transmission and trailer towing options. That is the one car I wish I had kept, I still miss it.

If your 65 Satellite was originally a real 426 Hemi car then you had one extremely rare car my friend. In 1965 the 426 Street Hemi hadn't come out yet and the Race Hemi had I believe 12.5:1 compression and two 4 barrels on top of a cross ram intake manifold like the 413/426 Max Wedge cars came with. The 1964-65 Hemi Dodges and Plymouths were a factory built race car just like the 1962-64 Max Wedge cars had been

My 65 Satellite was just mine except the engine not a fast car but for a 500$ first car it was amazing for a 16 year old kid. White top and red. 318 cu in. Auto trans bucket seats identical interior.

My Dad had a 65 Satalite. His was a 383 4 speed car. He had a friend that did some tuning on the engine. Dad said after Charlie put a higher lift cam in it that it was no slouch! His car was beige with a saddle colored interior.

Kevin are you aware that the 65 Satellite is basically a slightly restyled 1964 Sport Fury? Chrysler completely resdesigned their full size cars for 1965, and used the smaller 1964 full sized platform for their "intermediate " Belvedere and Coronet.

      @justenough730 Před 4 lety +2

Thank God it was a B body the 65 fury was a c body basically not one that was hotrodded it bigger and heavier,I like the B body much better and this 65 B body satellite is the same as the 64 fury B body which are beautiful cars with a little restyled front fenders.

I had a 65 Fury with same motor great cars they were reliable but were super fast for a single 4 barrel car. i never had problems with mine she rode just like a new car it has M/S M/B stick the hardest combo to parallel parking it ran w 390 gears so it was set for 1/4 mile use out of the factory not a highway car. This car would and I have smoked a Chevy 409 Impala. It was not that quick considering. I would love to race a 427 Impala or 428 Ford Galaxie which I think I would have beat. The 428 Galaxies did stay in the 14's which still really good for such a big car but mine would break into the 13's and maybe even better with slicks. Dhe shocked some hard core collectors

The pair from 1964/5 from the mopar makers our some of my favorite vehicles! I particularly adore the Plymouth satellite 2 doors! I'd love to have a coupe with a more modern 392 c.i. paired with a modern 6 speed auto ( yeah I've had my fill of the manuals) but still...These are my favs!

It's interesting to note that the '65 Belvedere/Satellite platform was really the '64 Fury. Chrysler restyled the front and rear ends, but other than that, it's a carryover model. Meanwhile, the '65 Fury was completely new, a huge, plush Sixties "dreamboat."

That fuel line needs to be rerouted stat before that car burns to the ground. It's damn near laying on the exhaust manifold.

love all the videos, so im not a troll ok?...but...a buddy of mine had a 64 AFX...i think it was a Polara. ...he campaigned the big wedge through the 70s and even broke/set a few records...[said so on the fenders]...in 1980 [if i remember right]...he pulled the wedge and went to Mancini[s] in Detroit, bought a Hemi, and ran that instead. after a couple disappointing seasons, he called up mancini, they said if the elephant was unhurt, they,d buy it back...they did...as the exchange transpired, my buddy remarked..."no matter what we tried, just couldnt get the hemi to run as fast as the wedge".... the mancini crew laughed outloud and said, "no, and you never will either, not naturally aspirated"...my friend literally did not know this... but to my knowledge, when the blower goes on, the hemi will halftrack the wedge...i enjoy your videos because their very factual and accurate, seldom a mistake seen, so whats up?...in this body style were the hemis faster than the wedge?...signed...loyal fan.

It is easy to see at the end of the video why it was a low 15 second car IT needed some fat sticky tires to hook up .I liked the 64 Dodge and Plymouth design much better than 65 .

Rear gearing and the proper tires were critical to these cars, many came with highway gearing which wasn’t ideal for drag racing. A 3.91 or 4.10 with a 4 speed was the way to go for performance.

my brother just bought one of these today .. same year. gold interior. everything works except the radio.. thats gone.
soo that leads to a couple questions....
anything that we should look out for ?? any known issues ?
and whats the price range for those nowadays ??
is is possible to get parts for these ?
like front fenders and interior crome around windows ?

in real world....the wedge would usually bust the hemi.....the hemi had 2 be constantly tuned...and had 2 be basically blueprinted everywhere... friend bought a hemi offa the mancini connection in the 70s..2 go in his 64 afx dual quad push button wedge car...never could get the hemi 2 run down the wedge at a 10.32...then even lower 10s...mancini said hed buy it back if it wasnt blown up...at the counter they said we coulda told u the hemi wouldnt outrun the wedge in the same setup but u didnt ask...so the wedge went back in.......i know if u .put a supercharger on both the wedge and hemi...the hemi will halftrack the wedge....supercharge that elephant motor and that breathability really shows up like gangbusters......still love your vids tho......watched boku many of em.........kutgw!!!

the hemi wouldnt rev with the wedge...not so much red line...although yes top rpm too.. but the quickness 2 climb...the hemi had huge very heavy pistons...also the valvetrain was heavy...but because of chryslers eternal dedication to proper piston bore speed..[even down to their slant sixes]..with the right engine builder they both could turn a lotta rpm 4 their size and technology of the day....but.....the hemi liked a touch more gear
