    I was really impressed with the Summit VECTIV SKY from The North Face. Let me know if you have any questions about this shoe in the comments below 👇

    They felt great when I tried them on. Surprisingly wide in the forefoot like you mentioned. The steep price is hard to swallow though! I would consider them if the lugs were slightly deeper. I find shoes with 3.5/4mm lugs grip well in mud when new but lose that grip quite quickly when about 0.5/1mm is put on them so fairly quickly. I'm holding out for the Salomon Thundercross that drops on 1st June. More of a training shoe than a racing shoe but appears to tick all the boxes for me on paper. Would be awesome if you got a pair in to test! Keep up the great videos btw loving all the kit reviews and fell running content.

    Loving these reviews of the 2023 TNF trail lineup 👍 Don’t suppose you’ve plans to cover the Infinite 2 and Enduris 3? 😛

      Hah cheers Andrew! I don’t have plans to test those, but never say never! The North Face range is crushing it at the moment. Thanks for watching! 🙏

    Just got some of these (after watching your review) and they are great. Quite firm as you say but not in a bad way at all. Surprised how well they gripped, better than my Pulsar SG's but not anywhere near X-Talon levels in the soft stuff - but this is a solid shoe that would work in a wide variety of conditions which is what you want for an all rounder for sure. All in all, very impressed with my first pair of TNF trail shoes. They remind me a bit of the S/Lab Genesis albeit a slightly firmer ride. Bearing in mind what you said about the Vectiv Pro, I'm intrigued by the Vectiv Infinite II's. They seem to sit between the Summit Vectiv Sky and Vectiv Pro in terms of stack height, have a TPU instead of Carbon forked plate but 5mm lugs. I'm definitely interested in checking them out at some point. Great reviews btw. 👍

      Thanks for the comment Stewart, and glad you're enjoying the shoes! I think you're right about the Infinite II's, they could be a great all-rounder especially for UK trails. Happy running!

    So glad you did a video on these! How was the comfort on long runs? Would you say you could do a 100 miler in these? Found them for $100 dollars on sale but already have a pair of Kjerags so debating.

      Very comfy, I wore them for the first half of the Lakeland 100 and they were great! Enjoy - they're a lovely shoe.

    This is a tough one, but for a 50k in a dry rocky climate (desert rats in Colorado) would you choose the Vectiv Sky or the Vectiv Pro 2?

    • @runfreeultra
      @runfreeultra  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah that is a tough one! I'd personally rock the Vectiv SKY for a 50k (great if you like a more responsive ride and secure lockdown) but if you're heavier or love more cushioning, the PRO 2 is the way to go - best of luck!!

    This looks like a fast shoe! Could I ask how you would compare the ride to the NNormal Kjerag, particularly if it feels harsher on firmer ground, less flexible but more propulsive? Also, which would you take for longer distances? Thanks for your reviews by the way, keep up the good work!

    • @runfreeultra
      @runfreeultra  Před rokem +1

      @ratwilley great question! The VECTIV SKY certainly has more ‘pop’ with the carbon plate, and a much more breathable upper with a precise fit compared to the Kjerag. After 250km my Kjerag are starting to feel a bit flat, and I’ve heard the Matryx upper can get quite hot in warm weather (not had any warm weather in the UK for a while so I can’t say!). As for distance, I’ve only rank 24km in the VECTIV SKY but don’t see why it can’t go the distance. The North Face expect people to run 100 miles in them so I guess it’s good for it - there’s certainly enough room in the toe box to run long. 👍

      @@runfreeultra Thanks for your reply, that is helpful to also know about breathability and fit for summer heat. It’s a shame the Kjerag is starting to feel more flat already, I hoped it would have a lot more long term resilience. I am looking at racing shoes for the Scafell Pike Trail Marathon and the Ring of Steall Skyrace. It looks like the Kjerag has more grip and steep uphill speed (lightness) but the Vectiv Sky would be faster downhill and on flats. I’ll keep a look out for long term updates on durability.

    How would you compare with NNormal Kjerag? I'm looking for a trail racer/trainer up to 30k, but found the Kjerag a little thin and my feet/legs really get beat up on long runs/descents. Could the Vectiv Sky serve as a more protective/efficient alternative?

    • @runfreeultra
      @runfreeultra  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yes this would work really well for technical training/racing to 30k and beyond! The carbon plate offers more foot protection on rocks than the Kjerag, though cushioning and stack probably very similar, the Vectiv Sky offers better upper and lockdown. 👍
