      Thanks a lot, Ricardo! That's the reason I'm doing this, to inform students like you about what's coming and how you can prepare, and even make your studies easier on yourself! If you want to help out some of your classmates, make sure to share this video ;) and please subscribe if you like more advice in the future ;) Also, there's a FB page you can like and follow (facebook.com/biomedmaster/). Good luck with your studies!

    I did a biomedical science degree in London and managed to get a 1st. I'm now doing a masters in infection and immunity in UCL which looks into immunology, microbiology and virology. It's tricky for me at the moment trying to decide on what career path to take. I'm thinking if I should do a PHD then apply for a clinical scientist training course after. This course is very competitive so I think the PhD may help along with the transferable skills I might get to get in although people have gotten in the training with just a degree or masters 🤔

      Nice! My Master's was also majored in immunology and infection! Very interesting topic, though I also was very interested in cancer, so I took a subject of another major as well. I'm not sure whether doing a PhD might increase your chances as I don't know te program in the NHS to become clinical scientist (I will look it up!). Best advice I can give is to go talk to the program curators and ask them advice. If you want to do a PhD, make sure you understand what it takes to do research! It can be fun, but it can be hell as well. It's a rollercoaster ride of uncertainty and hard wrk, but indeed, you gain a lot of skills and become very self-relient!

      @@Biomeducated thing is I've heard of a few people getting in this training with just a undergraduate degree so is possible. I saw this page about this girl who got in and said don't let the competition ratios put you off. Honestly after reading her story and seeing she just got on after finishing her degree it has put some comfidence in me. Just hope I get in

      I am confused what to do after my Biomed BSc degree. My personal tutor proposed Master's.
      Do you think it is worth it. Does it help to become a biomedical scientist? I could not find a Trainee post to get registered with HCPC.
      I am totally lost.
      Dont know what to do.

    Great channel. I will be starting my masters degree in Biomedical science.
    Am so confused about choosing a specialization in this degree.
    Also I am intrested in immunology and oncology.
    But not sure from my research which I should go with.

      Thanks, Ihezie Tochi! Glad you find it helpful! Oncology and immunology were my favourites too, but really, I would be open to study and learn anything Biomedical. Maybe you can go through some lab rotations to figure out what you should choose best? :D

    • @Biomeducated
      @Biomeducated  Před 5 lety +1

      @@ihezietochi6220 In terms of job opportunity, focus on the techniques you will learn! Choose a Master thesis with exposure to recent technologies, like multicolor FACS, RNAseq, spheroid cell culture... Don't expect too much from your thesis, many things could/will fail, it's the experience that matters! Also, talk to PhD students from the lab you're interested in! This can be helpful if you want to go for grad school afterwards ;)

    Should I get my bachelor degree in Biomedical Science? I’m so nervous about choosing my major, I’m interested in human body and want to study in depth on how they function or mechanisms occurred behind any diseases and so on. I’m from Thailand and my parents are worried about what jobs I can do after graduation. My plan is to apply in a university in Thailand and join the 2+2 dual program, which I can study my 3rd and 4th year at the university of sussex (which I never heard of it before lol). Do you have any recommendation for me? Is the U of Sussex a good university to study biomedical science, and how risky a biomedical degree is. How can I ensure my parents that I won’t be unemployed after my graduation? I’m sorry for asking so many questions, but there are a few of ppl who give advice on biomed degree. 😭😭😭😭

      @Biomeducated  Před 5 lety +2

      Don't apologize for your questions. It's better to ask them than not, because it's important for your future! :) There is a site called whatuni.com where you can compare universities in terms of quality for a given major. Concerning jobs: are you planning on going back to Thailand after you graduate? I bet there is a need for Biomedical Scientists over there too! For that I recommend talking to some people in Thailand who did/do the job or education. In UK, you will definitely find a job. Also, think already if you want to be in a routine lab (medical tests/pharma), or really do research? That can also influence your choice for university!

    Can we use this biomedical degree for medical/clinical microbiologist career?

    • @Biomeducated
      @Biomeducated  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, you can. But make sure you check with your chosen college. My courses at university were academic and not technical/professional. So ask if the program is meant to deliver biomedical researchers or biomedical lab technicians ;)
