FYI I didn't include things like balance changes, new weapons, et cetera because those are beyond unrealistic expectations (much like everything else in the video). I don't expect more from Valve beyond them copy--pasting premade assets into the game. Even asking for a strange Dragon's Fury is like expecting to win the lottery 5 times in a row. A man can dream, though.

@@StormTrooperEX In the multiverse, there's a reality where valve will take more than ten seconds to choose a map. There is no reality where they would put in any effort to even think about making a balance change, so why should he waste time making ones that few will truly care about and some parts of the community will get mad about, taking focus away from the plausible suggestions. Better to just focus on making a somewhat cohesive list of suggestions and pray that valve will make some kind of better than mediocre decision.
In my eyes, the best taunts are ones you can use reactively. That's what makes The Schadenfreude so widespread, you don't just use it after any kill, you use it when get a FUNNY kill.
Likewise, taunts like "So Close" and "Shhh" would be excellent additions to the game because they have immediate use-cases.

@@CoolSs Well, not their apathy so much that they want to focus on newer and flashier things. While tf2 is super fun to you and I, it is a very old game with spaghetti (likely horribly optimized) code, and likely is terrible to work with. I'm sure there are some devs who like it still (those odd manpower changes a bit back in response to solarlight show it), but most have gone to greener pastures like vr.
They are good just lazy and unorganized. Plus I see why tf2 gets neglected it makes a ton of money for minimum effort.

When I read that the update would include 'community-contributed fixes' I imagined that a bulk of the TeamComtress 2 fixes may be implemented, that would be hella dope.

I would also say, despite him not mentioning this in the video, that you should give some votes towards the recent Vs. Saxton Hale VScript maps. Now, are they going to be included in this update? Probably not. Valve probably isn't going to take the time and put in the effort to make a custom category for them unless its in the Misc. section of the map pool.
However, with VScript implementation, now it could possibly be added to the game officially, and that is really something special in my eyes. Is Vs. Saxton Hale a perfect game mode? Hell's no. There are balance issues with it, no doubt. But I think for a game mode that has been around for as long as it has been, that people still frequent it day in and day out, that is honestly a super fun time regardless of the state of the game?Yeah, I think that it's something that should be added to the game.
That's just a personal thing from me, though. Y'all can vote for whatever you want for, but this is the first time something like this has been done as a result of VScript implementation. I think it is important for us to show Valve that these are the kind of things that we want in the game, that their efforts by giving us more tools are allowing us to make things for the game that couldn't have been possible beforehand.
Finally someone picked a cosmetic set for pyro that wasn't Christmas themed or something that is 'cute and wacky'
If pamp were to get their War Paints in the game, Valve really should give them their own personal War Paint Case at this point with how many great ones they have.

Not that I'm playing enough or using a computer that's good enough for warpaints but I think warpaints with custom scratches & wear effects are awesome & need to be encouraged.
To be honest I really hope they add the VScript version of Saxton Hale. As a miscellaneous gamemode Saxton Hale would be perfect.
Would genuinely be as close as we’re gonna get to a major update, that being an entirely new game mode (would open the door to even more versus saxton hale/freak fortress maps to be added to the game), with little to no work on valve’s end due to vscript. Please valve, I beg of you
no more misc gamemodes, nobody plays them because they aren't "regular" modes.

As a Warhammer player, the Frontline Firebug could technically be a Warhammer reference if they're going for Kriegers (WW1 German/French aestetic). It's kinda there, they occasionally have skulls on their gasmasks.
While there are a few very minor differences such as it having a pickelhaube instead of a stahlhelm, and the gas box thing is on the wrong part of the chest, it is very clearly a Krieg inspired set.
The geysers on Extinction are a lot of fun. Agree it’s a solid map

I like how a lot of these war paints have seemingly solid colors for the textures, but have small subtle details in them to make them look more interesting than a hex code grabbed from Google. really nice stuff

Whats interesting is that while this could reference Warhammer the forst thing that came to mind when I saw this was WW1 stormtroopers. No not the Star Wars version, IRL stormtroopers they were based on. In WW1 German Stormtroopers were specialists who used gas and get this ACTUAL FLAMETHROWERS. SO THIS IS HISTORICALLY ACCURATE, especially with that one German spike. Thats a ww1 German helmet.

Also if it would be referencing warhammer, it would be talking about the death korps of krieg (also a nod to ww1, specifically germans in ww1), which just doesn't have the spike and the rest of the outfit is fairly different, so yea. Definitely WW1 and not warhammer. (btw the jacket also shows off how it's a ww1 flamethrower trooper outfit, since those kinds of baggy thick clothes would help with resisting the insane heat produced by said flames)
No, this set is definitely Krieg inspired, it just has some minor differences to be legally distinct.
23:30 As one of those people . i agree and i didn't play on it. Valve desperately need to add some sort of framework that allow us to test workshop maps. my suggestion is to add new tap that allow you to connected to a valve server on the community browser. why community browser you ask ? so you can download the map without needing Valve to keep updating the game to add them in limited list. second, Valve add a rudimentary voting system where you vote 1-5 on look gameplay and performances. third, is to give the player ability to put pin on an image of the top view of the map with problem they have (sniper sight line. this area is full of spam etc...) fourth, Valve will do this monthly and one of the top picked 5 maps will be added. also valve should advertise this in the main menu . not hidden.
Step 1: Fix the AI choosing the workshop stuff, so we don't get 30 unusual effects at once
Step 2: Let the other cases be able to get the effects for the summer
I can vouch for Phoenix, it plays very well. Just saying. I've played about 3-4 FULL matches on it, once where I was hosting the playtest.
Rotunda also plays very well.
the Frontline Firebug set would make me become DKOK (Death Korps of Krieg, from warhammer 40K) and just use the closest resemblance to an entrenching tool the Pyro has available, and also a shotgun.

Yeah, it's an odd pick. Honestly, I'd prefer if we never got unusuals added anymore, we have too many and all the good ones we already have at our disposal.
I am super curious what your opinion is on the VScript Vs. Saxton Hale maps. Do you think Valve would add them? Would having them as "Alternatove Gamemodes" be a good outcome for them? Do you think they look fun, or play fun if you've actually played them?

One thing is sure, the update will be less wacky as it is summer themed rather than festive themed (halloween, xmass) driven.

You know how recently we’ve been getting a larger update every few months with a variety of bug fixes? Well, I think we’re just about due for one of those. If I had to guess, I’d say the contractors been holding off on implementing any bug fixes until the summer update, where they’ll likely add in more than usual due to how many suggested fixes are on the workshop.
Also there’s a workshop post that gives valve everything they need to add in strange variants for every weapon that doesn’t have one (barring a few niche exceptions that just can’t track kills for whatever reason), including seperate crates and rarities.
there's a really cool unusual effect I saw a while ago. it's a team colored Intelligence flying around, much like older effects. it has the trail following the Intel like someone carrying it too.
I agree with your point on taunts. While I don't dislike the more wacky taunts we get "assuming they fit the character" they are a very good way to flesh the mercs out and display their personality. But the fact is that after about 2-3 months you stop using the taunt because you don't have a reason to outside of roleplay. Whereas aunts which actually taunt the enemy always have a reason to be used just to throw some salt in your victims wound as they see their kill cam.

I played Phoenix on the TF2Maps map testing server, it plays wonderfully too and has a unique last point. Would recommend.

You were just playing for the wrong reason then my guy. The only game breaking bug in TF2 is melee hit registration but it is whatever when compared to the game overall. I’m not even loyal to TF2 the market has yet to release a class shooter better besides Overwatch. Overwatch 2 just took all the momentum the game had and squashed it. It was the biggest fumble for my taste of games.
It's a good decision for sure. I didn't play it for 3 years. Maybe 2 I don't remember. But it's like a weight off your shoulders bc it just gets tiresome to deal with everything involved in the game and around it. I get on an hour or two every few weeks now but that's all i can really muster

The Frontline Firebug sure looks like it was inspired by the Death Korps of Krieg - would highly recommend you take a quick glance at the wiki page on them. The Tale of Krieg and the Death Korps is one of the coolest and darkest tales from the 41st millenium.

I did my part and voted for most of the things you suggested. However, I noticed a few War paints you didn't mention. I believe that Lady Luck v2, High Stakes & Flame Forged would be grand additions as well, if you want to take a look at those of course.

Zesty, I've always wondered how you would've made the whole skin/warpaint system work.
Would all warpaints be universal or would you have some be "generic" and applicable for all weapons while others would fit only certain weapons with custom mapping?
Moreso, what about unique skins? As in, a warpaint/skin that fits a single weapon (the way it was when they first came out). Would you get the skinned weapon directly or would it be a warpaint that fits only that one weapon so people can apply it to botkillers/festive/festivized weapons?
Because it does seem cool to have these different classes of warpaints, from the universal warpaints that can range from super cheap to possibly incredibly expensive (because of that one really rare generation seed), but then you have custom mapped warpaints that you get a limited selection of weapons for. But then if it drops as a skin and not a warpaint, even if it's available for just one weapon, said skin won't have botkiller versions and whatnot. Would that make the skin more or less unique?
I feel like having these different "types" of paints would be good for skin creators that can pick the amount of work they can do for a skin. As in, custom mapping is hard and time consuming so being given the option to make a universal warpaint (good quality one, of course) while accepting the fact it probably won't be as coveted seems okay.
But then you possibly get the issue of warpaints that fit just one gun be more expensive while being less effort or something. Still, a diverse and layered but yet organized system seems better than whatever hodgepodge the current one is.
If only one thing here gets in it better be the train war paint
