Catwoman Gets CANCELLED

- Catwoman has long been associated with Batman thanks to her long history as a romantic interest for the Dark Knight. However, that does not mean that there haven't been solo comic series, or attempts at solo adaptive projects. Catwoman Hunted may have graced the world in 2022, but it is not the first attempt at a solo animated Catwoman project. The success of Tim Burton's Batman, and Batman Returns, plus the Batman Animated series led to potential Selina Kyle spin offs. Find out why they didn't happen and what it has to do with Halle Berry's Catwoman here on Casually Comics!

Who is your favourite Catwoman?
Catwoman from the 2002 Ed Brubaker run, Injustice Catwoman, the 2018 Catwoman but ONLY up until issue issue 38.
@Nick Wilson Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman was the furthest thing from the comic book possible. Catwoman gained her abilities because of years and years of training. Not "cat magic". 🤦♀️
@nickwilson5774 ...that scene is still one of my favorites of all time. Just cinematically it was great.
Julie Newmar still fills out that catsuit better than anyone, and I love how her attraction to Batman doesn't change her criminal ways, as when she proposes to Batman they run away together:
Batman: "But what about Robin?"
Catwoman: "We'll KILL him...Painlessly, of course!"
Amen.
I loved Halle Berry's razzie speech. Not many actors can admit something they did was terrible. It shows a real humanity and that she's a good sport about it.
Unlike Berry's concept, a good Catwoman Netflix type series would focus on the low level, and on her career as a thief. Being a thief, she would come across all sorts of unsavory characters, information, and crimes. It would be like a cross between Jessica Jones and Daredevil, where there is more action than in Jessica, but more investigation and intrigue than in Daredevil. There would be a lot of stealth and chase scenarios ... stalking ... cat and mouse scenarios. Catwoman's not a scientist, but her primary trait is her intelligence - her problem solving ability - followed by her agile athletic skill. While shows usually depend on a stable of supportive characters, I think it would be better to go the other route with her, where she can't trust anybody.
No. Don't even put that into the world. You're asking for trouble. They can't even manage a *_BATMAN_* show.
@@Draliseth Haha! Yeah, they can't make anything but sh!t these days. But if you were going to make a rational Catwoman show, that's what it would look like. The irrational one would end up looking quite different, it would have a supporting cast, and probably several musical episodes.
Could be interesting if she runs into Batman in like 3/24 episodes, and she gets away easily the first time, implying he's still new at it, but he nearly catches her the 2nd time, implying he's actually a challenge she may need to take seriously (because honestly, not that many characters seem to truly challenge her much)... and the 3rd time one of them (probably her, because it's her show) has to give up on something, like she has to give up a giant emerald to save him. Or he has to let her go for some reason... Either way. Seeing their dynamic mostly hinted at in brief minor appearances, and also evolve over time? Could be real interesting. And if he's used in a total of like 10 minutes over 3 episodes in a season, it can still definitively be HER SHOW. And can kinda have Batman without everything being ABOUT him. You know?
I just really like their dynamic. Could also have fun characters like Huntress show up. Might even be fun to have Batgirl show up after Bruce failed to catch her the 2nd time or something. Just lightly keep her connected to the Bat stuff, without that being the main focus.
I'm hoping she will show up a lot on that Penguin show HBO is making. I liked Zoe as Catwoman they just need to rethink that mask.
I’d watch it
I would like to see a Catwoman movie that's just an epic heist -- she has to break in somewhere crazy like the JLA Watchtower, or Superman's Fortress or something.
Lex hires cat woman to sneak into Superman's fortress to gather data on his weakness, but she just goes and steals all the shiny stuff
Great idea.
Yes
I am totally here for Ocean's eleven except it's Catwoman
I would like to see a Catwoman on the run movie. Being chased by villains and The Batman. But she ultimately escapes
Mad Max Fury road style?
THAT!
If they get a great writer then that concept would be awsome.
@@MadShadow_ I would say more city based, John Wick style. But mad max cool too 😆
@@targetdreamer257 Give me a job! I’ll write it right now! 😆
Post-credits, Selina is on a beach, sun-bathing... suddenly she's like, "Hey, you're blocking my sun!" And Bruce goes, "Drink?" And offers her one. She takes it and he says, "I let you get away, you know." And she's just like, "Oh, really? Well next time, don't let me. I'll still get away."
Just, you know, keeping up the playfulness and the challenge. The flirtation. And it's supposed to kinda imply that maybe she really got away, or maybe he let her this time. Maybe she gets one over on him sometimes but not every time? We'll never know.
I want to see a Catwoman animated series where she's in full criminal mode. Each episode is a new heist. Batman only shows up a few episodes (maybe more as the season progresses) but is never a big role, always in the shadows and a few steps behind. She starts as a talented petty thief, gets better and better, draws the attention of the mob who wants to use and ultimately exploit her talents. Its her exposure to the real criminal underbelly that starts to change her arc/personality from criminal to more of a antihero with a good heart. But financial struggles because partners betray her, and loot keeps getting spent or stolen, constantly pulls her back into her old habits.
Halle Berry had amazing physicality as Catwoman and that’s the main reason I love her movie just the way she moves is enough for me
Exactly!
I do like the idea of a Catwoman crime-caper series where she has to use her wits to outsmart real supervillains. Like when she went to rob Snowflame, the craziest supervillain to ever exist. It did a good job of peeling back his charm and reminding you 'oh yeah, this guy is a drug lord.'
Edit: For those curious this happened in Catwoman #24 from 2020
THEY BROUGHT BACK SNOWFLAME!!!! THE COCAIN POWERED SUPERVILLAIN!
@@pengwin_ Yep. Hopefully it wasn't just a one-time thing.
My gosh why haven't I heard of him before. The name let alone makes me fall in love
Julie Newmar was my all time favorite Catwoman. I didn't mind the Halle Berry version. DC Comics has another character called Vixen. Halle would have been better suited to play that role in a movie.
YESSS!!!! vixen would have fit perfectly, and just imagine the movie redone for vixen it could have made way more sense
Novel idea but the accountants go by name recognition to approve projects.
I felt like Zoey Kravitz was a pretty spot on depiction of the more modern Catwoman, a bit more low key in the performance perhaps but I could definitely see that version getting a solo outing (hell Pengun's supposed to be getting his own thing, she definitely deserves it as much as anyone)
I agree but I would watch Zoey Kravitz play Harry Truman.
I think on screen, Catwoman works best as a foil to whoever your protagonist is. Whether it's a hero, villain, or something in between. She's there to disrupt your plans and she's great at it. I think that works better with the pacing of comics where you have time to see the setup and payoff of the long con. It could work for television, but it's a much bigger gamble that you can keep your audience interested long enough. And I don't have the confidence that Warner Bros has the balls to try.
Admittedly, I haven't read most Catwoman series, although I really liked what I've read of Cooke's.
I loved the TAS catwoman and her portrayal in the Harley Quinn show is funny too, her "solitary cat" side is pretty cool. But there's another version of her that impressed me was in an old issue of 'the brave and the bold' where she had an abusive past with her first husband that lead her to steal, and then in a very beautiful scene, revealed her identity to batman as he did the same. 💫
I love when you talk about adaptations! Your comparison and contrast technique is FLAWLESS.
I'm crazy about Catwoman & even the movie wasn't really as terrible as people make it out to be. As a stand-alone, without the (natural) audience expectations of Batman being involved it's a romp. However too many cooks just make a big mess.
Having said all that, Michelle Pfeiffer is my favorite Catwoman but my favorite Selina Kyle is Carmen Bicondova from Gotham
Is it better than Elektra?
@@HandofOmega No.
@@HandofOmega It's been so long since I saw Elektra, I can't say. All I remember from Elektra is how Jennifer Garner's lip implants look remarkably different throughout the film. My lips actually ached in sympathy
One intriguing element that BATMAN RETURNS introduced and then CATWOMAN (2004) ran all the way with was the "Buffy"-like mythology behind all the Catwomen. I'm not sure if Tim Burton realized it, but by having Selina be brought back to life by cats he was strongly evoking ancient Egyptian mythology, since cats were associated in the Egyptian religion with immortality. The 2004 film then outright confirms that cats are "spirit guides" for resurrected women seeking revenge. That would be a great story if done completely seriously.
@@SeasideDetective2 Might have made an interesting crossover with The Crow!
Love the all-black look. I'd like to see an Eartha Kitt-style Catwoman in the 1970s. The blacksploitation version would be awesome.
*Blaxploitation. 😉
Catwoman is my favorite character, she is the character that got me into comics. I'd totally love to see some projects with her. In a solo project it would probably make sense for her to be more of a hero. She's a good character for protecting those who get taken advantage of by the system but I think if she were allowed to be a bit more bad, a heist style thing could also be cool. Both takes on the character would be great tho
Could go Robin Hood or even sort of Punisher style. She doesn't have to be a full on superhero to end up doing good. And Catwoman as far as I know has almost never been evil. Morally gray at worst. She generally tries not to kill because only amateurs need to do that, and will even occasionally save people (mainly innocents/kids), but really like material things (though sometimes because she's funding an orphanage or something) and loves the thrill and the challenge. Not exactly "heroic" but also far from evil.
Also, generally she won't hold to Bruce's "no kill" rule so stubbornly. Like I said, she'll try to avoid it... but if it was to save a kid? Or end Joker permanently or something? She won't hesitate like Bruce. She'll do it if she feels like it's the only/best way.
So yeah, I absolutely think she should be "allowed to be a little bad" or whatever as you said lol. Just let her be accurate to the character, imo.
Actually Halle Berry's Patience. She was an original take on the character and all the problems with the movie could have been easily fixed. It needed a much stronger story and far better fight scene editing.
The editing really hurt that movie. It's so frantic alot of the time. I get what they were going for, but it just makes the movie feel awkward and frenetic.
I liked Halle's Catwoman. But Eartha Kit's Catwoman is my favorite. I love that there are different catwomen
Me too
I like the batman Catwoman she is basically a fusion of all the previous Catwoman except the blondles of return Catwoman
Yeah, her take on Catwoman was truly epic. Being Egyptian made it that more in line to the Cat theme, even though Selina Kyle was supposed to be Caucasian. I'd take Eartha Kitt over Michelle Pfeiffer anyday.
@@JoseMolina-ij3xx we can all agree this version of Catwoman has the best mask in movies
you have no taste
Gotta go with Eartha. She was the real deal.
I would be interested in a Catwoman animated series if one happened. As for story I'd just want it to be something that wouldn't feel like what a Batman show would do. And if we want to talk about crazy story ideas I've had one in my head for a while now of Batman, Catwoman and Riddler being trapped in outer space and going on adventures together with a new alien Robin, but I guess that doesn't really match what you were asking us to comment about.
This was such a good video! I adore Catwoman as a character and didn't know any of these cancelled projects😢 here's hoping the bat and cat war will be amazing!
I think I would make an animated film or mini series set in the original TAS timeline (before the redesign). It would probably revolve around Selina dealing with a criminal organization (maybe redclaw as she popped up a lot back then) attempting to create a small army of hybrid animal people, based on the research recovered from the tyger tiger episode. I feel like I'd set it away from Gotham, possibly in a rainforest, so as to allow it to focus primarily on Catwoman dealing with it, as she often had very noble pursuits of protecting animals and nature in the early days of TAS. Maybe have her team up with Ivy for some help with such a big threat. Thats just me spit balling though. Curious as to what other folks would do.
Love the wig choice!
She should have worn the Cat Mask Selina wore in her original appearance...😅
Just wanted to say for me Eartha Kitt WAS cat woman. My parents had some old taped from tv 1960’s Batman show, most of which had Eartha Kitt as catwoman. She just embued the character with so much energy, and absolute delight in breaking rules and getting the upper hand. Her voice, her magnetism, and unshakable sense of self, she was purrrfect. I still compare all subsequent catwomen to her.
I loved the Catwoman movie growing up, i haven’t watched it since like 2010 tho, I don’t know if the nostalgia lens’s could hold up now that I know more about other cat womans
Halle Berry deserved another chance as Catwoman if Ryan Reynolds could get one as Deadpool
Well, see, he got another chance as Deadpool not as Green Lantern. Just like Halle didn’t get another chance as Catwoman. In a way, Catwoman was her second chance after what she did with Storm.
I personally believe that Halle Berry is a good casting
@@strombreakrshe was. The writing and direction was terrible.
HELL HALLE BERRY’S CATWOMAN TOOK THE CHARACTER TO THE METAHUMAN/MYSTICAL LEVEL
I think Halle Berry actually congratulated Zoe Kravitz on her performance as Selina in The Batman (2022), which I thought was really sweet. It’s nice to see celebrities being good sports about these sorts of things.
I thought this was the other kind of "cancelled."
Me too, I was about to riot 😂😂💀
Awesome video! Catwoman is actually my favorite DC character. I'd love to see a proper adaptation of her early years with Batman, how she starts as a thief, her dynamic with Batman, and how she becomes more heroic. My favorite Catwoman stuff is in the TAS and Jim Balant era.
Thank you for this video! Balents run on Catwoman in the 90's was totally underated. And the crossovers were the best! As a lifelong Cat fan I really appreciate the content.🎉
I loved this hybrid type of vid. I love adaptations and the way they resemble (or not) their comic counterparts. 👉👈 more please? Lol
Something about your hand flourishing is so en pointe for a Catwoman segment. So much love.
The scene I'll never forget from the Catwoman movie is when she walks all over the furnitures on her living room. It was perfect. Aside from that, if anyone thinks there isn't anything worse than the movie, you should try the videogame.
Or not. Waterboarding is a better alternative then that game XD
I did play the game and it being difficult didn't make me love it any less lol (but I've also been a comic fan so I know the difference between Selina Kyle, Patience Phillips, and actual DC lore) When I ignore the dumb cat breath part, the movie is entertaining and exciting. As a DC fan, and as just a fan of badass women that kick evil's ass, I can't dislike the movie.
Hot take I loved Halle berry as catwoman and to be honest catwoman in general especially animated she’s one of my cb characters
I would love to do a modern Catwoman in a Burton-esque but modern Gotham. I would love to do something along the lines of the Phoenix Joker movie; set in the DC Universe, but standing apart from most of the canon.
It would be an origin story, with Selina being a poor person who quits being a sex worker after robbing an abusive rich client with poor security (a total nod to "Pretty Woman/My Fair Lady"). Now addicted to a life of jewels and wealth, she becomes a cat burglar. This leads her into a conflict with The Penguin, who in this story is a wealthy scammer perpetually living off of his parents' secretly depleted wealth, and who is responsible for stealing money that should have belonged to her family (and is also deformed, but not to the extent he was in the Burton version). Batman would not make a costumed appearance (except perhaps in pictures or similar) but Bruce Wayne would figure prominently as a romantic and business rival for the Penguin.
Selina's arc would involve her culture shock due to playing on both sides of the wealth gap in short order, and the story would play a bit to her desire to help people by stealing what rich folk can afford to lose. But her main theme would be ambiguity: how corrupt is she? How larcenous is she? How does she actually feel about the Penguin? Has she been domesticated or is she still wild?
The climactic scene would be when Oswald finds out that he screwed over Selina's family and left them destitute. He would be unable to believe that her relationship with him could be anything other than revenge, resulting in an enraged physical confrontation. Selina would escape after robbing him and exposing his scams.
Remember Neil Gaimans "Whatever happened to the Caped Crusader"? There was a great little Catwoman story hidden away in there. I'd like to see that on TV. Not sure who I'd cast.
I wonder if Danny Devito consulted with Michelle Pfeiffer where making his "Penguin/Catwoman fanfic" comic? Given that her character was played by an actress he worked with, would it be considered disrespectful NOT to, kind of, ask her permission to do that with her character? Genuinely confused as to the ethics of that situation...🤔
He did the quotes are interesting czcams.com/video/kGGrCJXeBI8/video.html
Catwoman in both comics and media are mainly consistent, especially now, that if you read a Catwoman story, when she appears in a show, movie or game, that's what your gonna get if you jump into a comic. Which also makes about every version, somewhat okay, to really good. In shows, she's great, in games, she's even better (Except Her Catwoman movie tie-in game, a title where Jennifer Hale played Catwoman, but even she refuses to talk about it), in live action movies... I'll say, she gets better with every outing. Animated movies are a bit hit or miss now thinking about it.
Good video. I love both your objectivity and your passion for Catwoman.
Dream Concept for Catwoman: She teams up with Power Girl and they become a therapist duo instead of anything interesting.
Batman Forever...of all movies to get MORE footage.🙄
(I actually quite liked the outfit Patience wore *before* the final act)
Catwoman was one of the few character I thought the Animated Series never portrayed great. I never loved that they made her a wealthy socialite and an activist. Design-wise I was never really blown away unfortunatelly by her BTAS look. The black portion on her mask made look a bit like how they drew masks in comics in the Golden and Silver Age which personally I found a bit distracting and the yellow belt made the attire a bit too visible which for cat burglar, that's not really something you would like. The gray suit I think was fine but I've always prefered Catwoman's suit being all-black. The blonde hair I understand was a studio mandate so she would look more like Michelle Pfeiffer similar with Penguin until TNBA where they were allowed to give them more comic accurate designs but for me I don't really like Catwoman with blonde hair except when she is being played by Michelle Pfeiffer. I always thought that Adrienne Barbeau's voice and performance sounded a bit too mature for the character and I felt like she was just missing the playful sass, sarcasm and overconfidence that Catwoman was known for. I think Adrienne Barbeau did a really good job but unfortunately I didn't think that her and Kevin Conroy had amazing chemistry, especially compared to his phenomenal chemistry with Dana Delany as Andrea Beaumont, Helen Slater and Olivia Hussey as Talia al Ghūl (although of the two I liked Olivia Hussey more as Talia), Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman or Grey DeLisle who voiced Catwoman in the Arkham games. I think her characterization and Adrienne Barbeau's performance was more refined by the last season and also in The New Batman Adventures. For Catwoman I honestly prefer her TNBA look to her BTAS look. I really liked the short dark hair and all-black suit which made her look more seductive and kind of sinister in a cool way and I also thought the stories they told with her in TNBA were more fitting for the character. Ironically my favourite appearance of Catwoman in the DCAU is the short film "Chase Me" from Mystery of the Batwoman. Catwoman honestly was one of the few characters that I thought overall was handled better in The Batman 2004 series. The one from The Batman series is my favourite Catwoman in animation and probably my favourite voice actress for the character as well along with Grey DeLisle from the Arkham games. The Batman series, while not quite as good as Batman the Animated Series, some characters like Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Batgirl and surprisingly Firefly, where much better handled than in the Animated Series. It also has one one of the best alternate versions of Clayface.
Completely agree, I've always thought TNBA got a bad reaction from fans for daring to change things up. I did like the one BTAS scene, however, where she pauses while lifting something and asks herself: "Why can't I STOP stealing?!" Hinted at more depth than they ever actually delivered on, unfortunately...
I do think the writers might have had a strong disliking of Catwoman. I really was smh at how Batman would treat Talia, Harley Quinn, the Joker, etc, compared to Selina
I liked the concept of the Catwoman direct to video script. It would be like a less edgy Witchblade type of deal. Ya know Halle could take that concept and have her Catwoman fight Set or some poorly adapted devil analogy to save the world. Never mind I have a great idea for a fan fic gotta go byeeeeeee
An extended cut of the best batman movie ever? Sign me up.
I'm gonna be refreshing my rss feed every few seconds now until that's out
you couldn't escape catwoman in the early 90s! great vid
I love when you talk about adaptations... I love it
There was an arc in Balent's run, I THINK by either Moench or Dixon, during which Selina was implanted with a tracker, and was used by the Government as a thief. A version of the old show, "It Takes A Thief", and, even though she pulls out the tracker pretty quickly, ending the idea, the theme is solid, and could make a decent film or series.
I like this. Thank you
Damn now I want a "to dark for studios" Burton Catwoman movie with Pfeifer.
I still recall the cats reviving her in the parking lot BLECHH!
Sitcom revolving around catwoman, poison ivy, and Harley Quinn all living in a house/apartment
Love your hair this was.
- need to revisit the Lois v Catwoman storyline
Kennie JD made me rethink Catwoman and it’s changed my opinion on it
A Batman/Lupin the 3rd crossover does sound like it could be pretty fun if handled correctly. XD
my dream Catwoman idea... basically Catwoman as a younger woman learning the art of heist planning from Richard Stark's Parker.... maybe 15ish years ago Beth Riesgraf from Leverage (where she played The Thief) might have been an ideal Catwoman for the era.
After hearing Hallie Berrys idea for catwoman, stopping catastrophes and such, I think she should go up against Darkseid in a new love action 😩
Bruh what’s Catwoman gonna do against Darkseid, steal his earrings lmao
But seriously, I would like to see Halle Berry get another shot at the character someday. Even if it’s for a cameo, I think she deserves another chance.
I remember that movie once hearing the premise but I had no idea that was a Catwoman film in my memory that's crazy
I remember when Catwoman was in The Outsiders. Got into a fight with giant killer robots, realises she was WAY out of her depth, legged it, didn't come back.
Steven Soderbergh (director of the OCEANS movies) could make a great Catwoman movie
That Halle Berry/ Benjamin Bratt basketball court scene reminded me of the Ben Affleck/ Jennifer Gardner playground battle scene in Daredevil 🖖🏾
If I were going to make a Catwoman series, I would take more inspiration from "The Batman" cartoon, an DC Showcase Catwoman. Selina would be a jewel thief, with a little bit of a Robin Hood edge, but not fully. She would steal things from the rich who could afford to lose them, or from other criminals who couldn't report it. Some, she would keep for herself, but most she would get money for. While Selena would keep MOST of the money for herself, a small portion of it would be going to help others. Like the homeless, and the poor neighborhoods of Gotham (or another city if we want to move her away from that), preferably the neighborhood she grew up in, and full of people she knows. Like, imagine her stealing an artifact from some mobster, turning that artifact in for the reward, then using a small portion of that reward to help some kids eat.
Of course, like in "The Batman" cartoon, this sometimes gets her in trouble. Naturally the criminals she steals from are not going to be happy at her taking their property, wo they are going to send people after her. Which means she is going to have to deal with goons, thugs, and maybe other villains, creating her own Rogues Gallery. At the same time, she also has to avoid the police, because of all the stealing she did from rich people.
Also, like in the DC Showcase, she will at times be helping people in her neighborhood that end up slipping through the cracks. Like how she was out looking for a young woman that had been kidnapped. If some poor homeless person disappeared, the police won't really care, and Batman would be too busy dealing with some city-destroying plan, so Catwoman, who had talked to the person numerous times, is the one that has to find them.
Halle Berry...in leather. MEOW! Think I'll watch my Catwoman DVD tonight. 🐈⬛️🐾😻
Now I want a Catwoman movie with her in the original purple cat head mask, and she's on all these zany breakneck capers like stealing Endless Winter's frost skin, Rip Hunter's time orb, the Legion's stuff before Booster Gold can steal it, etc.
Catwoman Film: 1950s, Catwoman is a former OSS operative whose husband died in World War 2. She blames herself and is framed various crimes, which she is trying to clear her name. She is forced to commit various crimes to support herself and niece while on the run from various governments and mobsters. She is conflicted in thinking she is doing what is best for niece by keeping her with her.
Catwoman teams up with The Penguin to pull of a heist. It plays mostly from her perspective with them trying to plan and execute the heist while Batman and the police are after them. Both watching their backs so the other doesn't betray them.
I didn't see that Batwoman/Catwoman movie, but now I think I NEED to...for research!🤤
(as soon as I get my Max subscription working again...😮💨)
Hey Sasha, here an idea prompted by Halle’s comment about Catwoman saving the world. A tier list style video ranking the threat levels of the climaxes in stand alone/ solo super hero movies. It can stick to Marvel and Dc but no team up or team moves so no Batman v Superman, avengers, or Guardians. And judging by the levels of City, continent, world, universe or however you feel like laying it out.
I thought of this because thing back to at least the most popular and most outside of Superman seem to top at city level. Not going that far from Gotham or New York. But know I could be wrong.
I always thought a fun Marvel/DC crossover would be some sort of Contest of Thieves, where the most prominent thief characters would all try to outfox each other to steal some highly guarded macguffin. Catwoman and Gambit are the main ones I can think of, but who else could be a part of such an event?
Black cat
This man said Gambit when Black Cat was there...
Great job of matching your outfit to the topic, All that was missing was cat ears...
Comics Scene magazine...WOW
I remember that
If I was in charge of a Catwoman film, I'd probably do either a heist movie, or her trying to take down Falcone. :)
"That statement does not fill me with confidence that she grasps the Catwoman character."
Yeah. To put it mildly.
Thanks for the video. I liked the Catwoman movie. They did have interesting ideas. She wasn't Batman's Catwoman. Isn't ironic that the not Batman's Joker movie was accepted but the previous movie was dragged.
I also just bought my first catwoman comic recently! Its so good!
I liked reading the 90s Catwoman/Wildcat mini.
Another possible reflection of WB losing confidence in Catwoman after the 2004 movie, is that the next big screen live action version of her in The Dark Knight is never referred to as "Catwoman" at all. She's always called by her real name.
I would probably do a heist movie. Maybe have her steal to save a no kill cat shelter.
My Catwoman movie would star Charlie Sheen as just a regular guy in Gotham, and he's just going about his day. But then there's a story where Catwoman accidentally implicated him when she robbed a mobster. Now she's shadowing Sheen, protecting him from goons, and he never notices.
That basketball scene was a choice...
2:44 Why did you have to remind me of the Nightmullet?
"It was a choice." If you choose to look like that, seek help.
I'd like a Catwoman film where she's alone, on an incredible heist that leads to dangerous consequences and incredibly personal ones too. And she has to go up against some new powerful cat related villain, that also has the Scarecrow in there too, as she has to face her greatest fears as well.
That random OC Patience Phillips ruined Catwoman, same way the Random Wilder CW imposter ruined Batwoman.
I’d love to see an animated movie adap of Selina’s Big Score.
Catwoman Z. Saldana paired with Huntress going against a revenge minded Roughcut, Red Claw, a Poison Ivey possessed Donna Troy-Wonder Girl, Environmentalist Pam Ivey who prefers plants to people with Punchline as the surprise mastermind.
I would make a catwoman video game with a reputation system that effects how npcs interact with you.
I like to see Catwoman take on a action adventure / mystery story.
Someone looted a museum for all it's cat like objects. So, Catwoman is the first person the cops go after. But, Selina did not do it. So, she go out to find out who did.
1:22 I absolutely LOVE this design and want to see it adapted somewhere, I would love to see in oceans 11 style movie where Catwoman have to team up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn to pull a heist and rob the Batcave, that could be a lot of fun
It's a crime that Selina's Big Score hasn't been adapted. Or even a variation of Catwoman: When in Rome. Those two could be fun, stand-alone animated films. 🖤💜
Give me a take on the Eartha Kit cat woman from Batman 66. She was so smooth and the one all others are measured by.
Wayne Family Adventures had a terrific Catwoman/Birds of Prey team up last week. Also, there was an episode where she taught Stephanie and Damian how to fight in high heels; so I guess that's my favorite Catwoman.
If I were to do a Catwoman movie... (off the top of my head): I'd make it about a second generation Catwoman, her adopted daughter. And to start with she'd be a criminal, but more along the Robin Hood style (rob the rich, to reimburse the poor,) and at one point she dies, but immediately, somehow (ooo-eee-mysterious) is revived, and has mild powers. Her mother is retired (health). And the villain would be the Son of Catman!
As always thank you so very much for the videos.
I don't think I would have cared about any animated Catwoman spin-off early in the B:TAS era. But I wouldn't mind a Catwoman Beyond idea. Maybe a deeper dive into the cyberpunk themes that vaguely inspired Batman Beyond. This would basically center around an all-new Catwoman basing herself upon the old Catwoman, as a thief using advanced tech similar to Terry's suit. Or whatever. I dunno.
0:14 Bleech. That goggles-shit, The part where they can NEVER get her look right anymore and outright refuse to.. Such a difference with the real-Catwoman..
The DC Showcase Catwoman short is very good. Also,Selina was🔥🔥🔥. It's helped by the fact that she was voiced by the GORGEOUSLY talented Eliza Dushku of Buffy/Angel/Dollhouse/Tru Calling/Bring It On fame.
I actually liked the 2004 Halle's Catwoman. It gave her more cat powers then Michelle Pfeiffer's 9 lives. The name may not have been Selina Kyle, but neither of the 60's Kitayna Ireyna Tatanya Kerenska Alisoff (Miss Kitka). Berry and Pfeiffer's portrayal had a lot in common too. Both were killed by their bosses after discovering illegal business of their companies, brought back to life by cats and both wanted revenge. The film also brought out Halle's hotness.
I think you might want to take a look at a Batman (or maybe Detective) issue from probably the late 70s, maybe early 80s. It was called "To Hell with the Batman... and Back", I think. I read it when I was kind of young. Not sure why I suddenly thought of it yesterday. When you get to the end, you think, wait they did what? I think there was a villain called The Spook.
My ideal Catwoman movie - animated or live-action - would be an adaptation of Selina's Big Score.
I'd love it if Matt Reeves did a Catwoman spinoff series like he's doing with Penguin
The 90s Jim Balent is awesome and would love to see some it adapted into a Animated feature
90s era Catwoman leading a team of young superheros Young Justice style against a version of Starro the Conquerer that has been modified by Brainiac in New York. the team consists of Zach Zatara, Tara Markov, and Jericho ( Joey Wilson).
I think if they did an animated movie in the same style as the mystery of the Batwoman except with Cat woman like they were planning would have been my favourite adaptation. Just that time period and style is so nostalgic to me growing up with Superman and Batman animated series.
