Why do people act like that was a slam dunk from Heyman? For a guy known for his skills on the mic, I found that to be extremely weak.

@@mshine7991 how Matt handled the situation publicly was wrong. He was obviously in an emotional state like everyone is during a break up. But there is a line where it should not have crossed -- that balance of separating one's private life and professional career faded away.
Never been a huge fan of Matt Hardy or Edge, for that matter. But I give props to Hardy, for being a pro through that whole thing.
Became a fan more of Edge when he retired and met him at a signing. When he came back I was thrilled. Now, it's back to not caring anymore. Wish he just retired

Incorrect actually. Edge was already Mr. money in the bank by the time the scandal came out. He very much had a rocket strapped to his back already, the irl heat helped a lot, but to say that this scandal was the reason he broke out as a star is objectively false.

What made Edge the heel he became was that storyline with Matt and that's when he broke out as a star.

@AlexYBITW Edge feuded with Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels, including getting a win over HBK at the RR, got paired with Lita, won the MITB, got a WHC title shot against Batista and feuded with Kane before Matt Hardy even came back to WWE. It's disingenuous to claim the Matt Hardy feud is what made him a main eventer. I even remember him telling Matt not make his return at his expensive and that, unlike him, he earned his main event stripes.
The feud with Matt probably helped boost him further as a monster heel, but he was well on his way there without him.
#1 feud in wwe for me. I’ve never been so glued to a story line. From Matt calling Edge and Lita by their real names to the radio calls. The promos that were cut and punches thrown, ugh chefs kiss.

The biggest thing on this for me, is how matt accepted the feud, controled himself for not doing anything beyond just because of anger, and how he was able to trust edge again

CVV is such a good interviewer. Hes relaxed, honest and so knowledgeable. And above all, he's respectful. Theres a lot of interviewers out there who spend 90% of the time talking and not lett the interviewee answer in any detail.

I started watching WWE during that Edge, Lita and Matt Hardy stuff.
That story which was influenced by real life events, is kinda what made me fall in love with wrestling.
The Edge, Lita and Matt Hardy love triangle
The OG Raw vs SmackDown story
The Taker vs Orton feud
The Eddie and Rey custody of Dominick
The Cena and Edge feud
The Mickie James vs Trish stalker story
All of that made me fall in love with wrestling, at the age of 9 years old (now almost 28 years old)
and that's how messed up wrestling can be. The best rivalry are always the ones which the fiction and real are blurred.

For me, the hottest years were 2002 (to some extent), 2003, and 2005. Every other year is objective in my eyes, because you can tell 2003 and 2005 were WWE's best years in the Ruthless Aggression Era.

I have always been impressed by how professional, mature, and forgiving Matt was in this situation. Imagine working with a close friend who stole your girlfriend.
But Adam was impressive too by how he just admitted that he messed up and faced the consequences head on.

Hope one day Matt Hardy gets his flowers the same way Christian Cage is now. Very underrated performer, great mind for the business. His reinvention with the broken/woken matt stuff was excellent. Hopefully him going back to TNA can help some people see that.

Glad Edge takes accountability for his actions. Everyone always wants to blame Lita.
And rightfully so. She deserves most of the blame. She made the conscious decision to cheat. She wasn't forced.

I mean, of course she's the main one blamed, it was her decision to cheat on Matt.
She did deserve blame, but both her and Edge were equally at fault. I think the reason a lot of the blame was put on Lita was because she was the one in the relationship with Matt Hardy despite Edge being married to someone else at the time but because his wife wasn’t known to WWE fans most of the heat went on Lita.
I’m so glad Matt hardy has a great life after what lita did, she really isn’t a good person
I’d love to hear Matt side of the story on this, pretty sure it’s the same but big respect to both those guys for being professionals and figuring out a way to work through it. I get it. Pro wrestling is not like any other regular job, but they were definitely professionals about it. They kind of didn’t have a choice. The alternative was lose your job.

This situation showed Edge's true colours.
Even though it was an aspect of his personal life; it eventually spilt over into his professional life, and has been and will continue to be a stain on his career.
But it was Lita who got the shortest end of the stick imo. Sure, she’s in the HOF now, but the fans really tore her apart in her final years. And she’s still single today.
Oh Shut the hell up. When it comes to messy celeb romantic relationships and infidelities I try to refrain from judgment because only know what actually happened, we don’t know the full dynamics and complexities of what actually happened and at the end of the day that’s their business and not ours.

@@andregordon2599 It was actually Vince who told Matt Hardy to not go public the whole affair. Matt Hardy did so anyways, and was fired as a result. But the fans ended up rallying behind Matt Hardy. That's when it was turned into a storyline. At that point, the cat was out of the bag.
I didnt forgive Edge until I was an adult lmao, for this and many more things(I was a super Cena fan as a kid) but now as an adult, I look back and really appreciate all the entertainment.

Him saying how they all moved on pretty quickly is kinda crazy. I'm sure him and Lita did. Matt, at that point in time, had a life with her and wanted to marry her. He was in love with her. Just because he wasn't pouring his heart out every moment after that doesn't mean he moved on quickly just because you two could still work professionally in the ring.
I believe he meant the animosity between Matt and him specifically. I dont think Edge was reffering to Matts mental state in general.
From what I understood Matt and Lita getting married was never going to work out. She was ready to settle down and retire while Matt wanted to prioritise his career. Her being at home with a career-threatening injury while Matt continued to remain on the road contributed to the loneliness that she felt which led to her infidelity. All-in-all they weren't compatible enough for marriage.

It's weird to think this all happened nearly 30 years ago, and everyone has moved on except for fans. It's an interesting study in "celebrity" psychology, because you KNOW that to this day, Edge, Lita, AND Matt all still get shit for this.
That feud has been dead long enough to buy a beer in the afterlife.
Yet they probably still get people daily saying how "Lita is a h0e", "Matt is a cuck", "Edge is a homewrecker"-

For a long time Edge was the biggest heel in the world and Matt to this day still caries a lot of sympathy from fans going all the way back to this situation, i've always cheered Matt on everywhere he went, you just wanted him to make it you know? But all they did was make CM Punk even more popular. If they really wanted to disparage Punk, they should have released the footage around the time of the incident. Can't exactly expect Adam to apologize forever but there's a distinct lack of ownership for why things went bad to begin with. He's talking like there's no one to blame or the blame is on them both equally, and if he felt that way, it'd be interesting to know why. He's answering questions without saying anything.
Can’t really disagree more, I think he’s tired of something that happened twenty years ago still casting a shadow over his life when he’s apologized for it ten fold and shown that he’s grown as a person, and people like you who still can’t seem to let it go are the reason for it

Again, the first thing I mentioned was not looking to see Adam apologize, but the mature thing to do is also not to gloss over the things you've done. Nobody is trying to villainize Edge, but a mistake is forgetting your wallet when you go to the grocery store, an affair is a chain of conscious choices. You say cast a shadow like he's some kind of victim, but both Adam (and Matt, to some extent) benefitted from controversy. Both were equally at fault. I’ll never understand how some fans try to place majority of the blame on Lita because “she was the one in the relationship”, when Edge was literally married at the time.
Edge cheated on his wife to be with Lita. Lita cheated on Matt to be with Edge. Both were unfaithful in their relationships.
I had a wwe tryout at a raw once and was having a nice conversation with Bryan Danielson (who had just started and was in nexus). We were both "indy" wrestlers. Edge walked over, looked at me and pushed me out of the conversation. I felt disappointed but I was a little fish in a very big pond. Plus I chalked it up to maybe he was having a rough day. Literally nothing in wrestling was ever as important to as an Edge and Christian vs Hardy match. Matt has always been my favorite ever, but all 4 of those guys were the literal backbone for nearly a decade.

the thing is i never really realized that it was Edge who started the affair with Lita, not the other way around. He apperantly send some messages to Lita about loving her and stuff like that, and Matt found out and went insane obviously as every of us would (especially when it's your best friend).
