Now that Edge mentioned it, I don't remember Foley having a memorable Wrestlemania match up until 22. Its good to know Foley got his moment.
I mean idk if ur old enough but 15 was memorable
@@ocsjc13not at all. Nobody ever talks about it
There was that Rock n Sock connection match against evolution but that one I think is talked about even less
@@ocsjc13Mick wasn't the focus point of 15 though. No one really talks about Foley as the guest ref
It's hilarious how vince thought he could have it in wm16. That was a joke.
Mick is amazing he helped put over
Rock
Edge
Randy Orton and
Triple H, and they all became and stayed Main Eventers, Amazing.
Foley may have been the best ever at elevating others to the next level. Proving yourself against him was always a big deal. A top 10 of all time for sure which I don’t think a lot of people would say
Yep 2000 royal rumble against HHH, 2004 backlash against Randy Orton, 2006 Wrestlemania vs edge. Might be missing a few.
@@davefarlow I think that he also elevated a little bit of Austin and The Rock careers too in 1998-1999
Definitely elevated the rock..but Austin was already solidified by the time Foley & Austin became a rivalry..
@@pretvodlen Bret elevated Austin, WM 13 submission match, and the rest is history.
@@amanpretbasuita2725 Hart never elevated anyone but himself.
I immediately clicked this was one of my favorite matches ever. I was so crushed when edge retired.
But I understood it
Adam Copeland is pure legend. This interview was as well. Keep up the great work Chris
He had already held the world title at that point and he still wasn't seen as a main eventer. Insane.
Vince gave him 3 weeks in January 2006 to see what he could do. I watched those episodes back & I say that he proved that he could be a great champion. But Vince gave it back to Cena & went ahead with the Cena vs HHH match
After that Royal Rumble, Edge immediately went back to the mid-card temporarily. That Foley match really did help him
Neither was Triple H. You have to earn that through the fans not the company. Triple H proved himself at the Royal Rumble 2000 against Cactus Jack
It’s not the title that makes you a maineventer
I've always felt like this is the match(and his feud with Foley in general) that truly pushed Edge into main eventer picture.
Mick always knew how to elevate his oponents and made them look like a million bucks.
Might be a hot take, but I don't think Adam would have had the main event level career if it wasn't for his hard-core match against Mick Foley
He’s not a great main eventer anyway, he’s a lanky, rather bland guy who’s only had a couple of major career highlights (ladder spear, the celebration with lita)
@seymourpant Huge Adam/Edge fan from his days around that time. It was absolutely his charisma and in-ring story telling that made me love that intensity from him. Definitely more technical wrestlers out there, but he's a master heel and super passionate wrestler.
@seymourpantjust bc he’s in AEW doesn’t mean he’s a bad wrestler
@@ChewyNuggetZEdge was the guy who worked with the guy who drew money. AEW showed that
@@seymourpantfeud with undertaker, rated rko, feud with Cena, triple threat with Roman and Bryan, forming the judgement day and feud with the judgement day, winning tag team gold with Orton, Hogan, Christian, Mysterio, Jericho. First ever money in the bank. Feud with Foley, last match in WWE with Sheamus, feud with Christian in both WWE and AEW , 2 time royal rumble winner etc
Nice interview
I remember Mick Foley vs. Edge was my favorite match at that year's Wrestlemania! 🙂
It was the tail end of the Ruthless Aggression era, unquestionably WWEs most violent era. Buckets of blood, fire, daredevil spots, and sick bumps.
There was still just over two years of RA
Edge and Lita were magic together.. greatest couple in wwe history
Man that match with Foley was EPIC Mick did so much to elevate many like Edge like Orton an so on
Mission accomplished that match was so special WrestleMania 22 had so many good matches which is why it's my favorite of all of them them them
One of my favorite Mania matches ever & probably the best Hardcore match ever
I showed my kid this match because it's amazing chaos. And he freaked out saying "Why are you showing this to me?" When they did the table spot.
The spear off the ladder was insane thank you edge 🤘
Literally my favorite wrestling match of all time.
"It was all my stupidity" no dude you entertained millions lol those were business decisions
we were robbed off a cena and edge mania event, the fact this match is still talked about than the main event itself with triple h and cena speaks volumes
Wish this dude was still in WWE. He belongs in the big leagues.
I watched this match 60 times
Now that's how do you an Indy mudshow match at a high level. Mick is the goat
You're not Jim. It's funny when he says that. You just sound like a sheep.
Never realize that Foley big body cant cover Edge arm for the spear
"Every time you see me do something stupid, it was my idea"
Breaks his leg a week later jumping off a cage
Edge vs Cena should have main evented WM22. Triple H held Edge down for years.
One things for sure, He should have one at Unforgiven against John Cena. That pushed Him back if anything
I don't have heroes, but if I could have the heart mick Foley has I would just idk just mick Foley is a good guy!¡!
The ultimate opportunist
2:36 😂
edge is one of the best
Edge vs Cena
Orton vs Cena
Two Matches that never took place at WrestleMania
Both did but only in triple threat situations, but you're right not 1 on 1
Should have been Edge vs Cena for the WWE title.
I imagine there was a chip in their shoulder as well, cause of the table.
That's all I got. Lol
Fun fact: you can spot lita throwing up behind the steel steps after they went thro the table the smell of burnt flesh made her boff
He got pushed back from the main rvent scene? Bro was only in the main event for like 2 months prior lol
I remember watching this match live and it was shit. Just because you light a table on fire and get put through it doesn’t make it a good match or memorable at all so many people have done it better. Edge was always over rated. Him and lita had their time but after that what did he do that was intresting and successful??
I think what always held Edge back was his outfit material. It's the plastic look appearing cheap. Like a bad superhero costume.
Oh you would not enjoy todays wwe very much (I agree btw)
Edge calling it the AA is cringe
AA is a better name than Adam Copeland. I would choose AA as my ring name if I had to pick between those.
@@PierFlies @fupalover was not referring to Edge's ring name. They were referring to John Cena's finishing move the Attitude Adjustment, which used to be called the FU and as Edge mentioned in this clip, Cena performed it on Edge during their TLC match in 2006.
@@smec_ No aew his name aa. greetings from Sri Lanka
Unpopular opinion: Edge and Christian shouldn't have won the triangle ladder match at WrestleMania 2000, or the first two TLC matches. They were the boring team of the three; Rhino was the only positive they brought to TLC II. And they contributed the chair to the match, which was pretty much irrelevant until RVD joined the party for TLC 4 and made it a weapon to be feared.
Agree! Hardyz definitely should’ve won at least one TLC match and dudleyz another.
@@CYARA209 to quote Tony Stark: FINALLY! Someone who speaks English!
They certainly were not the “boring” team, but definitely shouldn’t have won so many of the matches
@@fungunsun1 watch the first TLC from SummerSlam 2000. They were the boring team. I never got the hype behind those lanky nothings...
This is the same interview he did a year ago.. BOOORING. Sorry cvv but we already heard this interview was an actual journalist
