Totally get what you mean about the cosmetic formable tags. For example, if Portugal were to form Spain, they still need Madrid, Bardelona, Valencia etc etc. At that point you've conquered Iberia, so why not make it so if you form "Spain", the name is actually what the Portuguese call Spain or Iberia- Espanha or Iberica. Another great example is Scotland. Let Scotland form Great Britain, but with it's name changed to "Alba" and flag have the Scottish Cross of Saint Andrew in front of the English Cross of Saint George- I mean hell, do the same thing for other countries like Wales or Ireland, have them form their own slightly altered nation. Finally, small things like "Rus'" If a Ukrainian minor forms Russia, a Balkan formable (Yugoslavia or Illyria for example), and Great Moravia or Zapadoslavia (West Slav Formable, maybe the prior for Nitra and the latter for Bohemia?). I love flavor like this in mods like Ante Bellum, it makes the game feel that much more personal and rich. After nearly 3000 hours of gameplay, having small things like this can go a long way in making the game feel fresh and engaging.
100% agree! I'm Norwegian and i HATE forming Scandinavia haha. I want to have a Norwegian name. Scandi is from Skåne. A swedish name and place.

That's one thing I'll give some little credit to the CK3 Team, some titles have alternative names depending on what culture holds the title. A similar system could be done for EU4, but frankly we REALLY need to move on to EU5 otherwise this decade old game-engine might just give out entirely
Agree with all of these, except Rus. They added Ruthenia as a formable a WHILE back for the Ukrainian/Kievan Rus type of Russia, and then once government reforms became a thing, they got a unique Kievan Rus government type.
You should do one with Sweden-Poland-lithuania union. It did exist and would be fun to see what happend if they managed to stay together.
You can play that from base eu4 by changing start date. Its fun crushing russia hehe.

Fully agree with the formable nation tags thing. Would love there to be a lot more what if ones that underdogs could make.
Nice video!!! Totally agree with the formables question you’ve mentioned. Some formables should be buffed and preferable for the AI, like Franconia, others should be created, like “Iberian Union” as an alternative for Spain. (Maybe available for Portugal), and they should bring back more vanished nations (as they did with Lotharingia).
I think just "Iberia" would work best, or at the very least rename spain "Hispania" when formed by a non castilian.
Iberia should definetly be a formable nation for Portugal, or Atleast something like Lusitania. Portugal doesn't have any formables, and it forming Spain doesn't have any sense.

Can you maybe try out a mod without any possibility to form any formables? It always goes the same direction with every minor trying to form an empire tag…still a great video and happy new years with the family!
5:00 You are completely right because it is so boring. I feel like it’s be so cool if the nations that a minor formed were exactly the same but with a different localization or minorly changed name. Not quite something on the level of Rüm, but just like Tver forming some sort of Tverian Empire but with the same mission tree as the Russians.

I get what you mean but there are way to many tags to have a formable nation with ideas that is specific to one nation for everyone.

I know a lot of people compare your channel to drew durnil's but I think yours is genuinely a lot better as he does not seem to actually properly understand the games he used observe (calling every type of vassal nation a union and mispronouncing or refusing to pronounce simple names like Kaabu and Vijaynagar)

Re the lack of custom formables
I think something like Ante Bellum would be great, where different tags can each form their own take on a formable. Ex Ante Bellum has 3 different takes on Rum, depending on your tag's starting religion, Orthodox, Sunni, or Zoroastrian. Makes it more exciting because each religion has different goals in mind for the formable, IE Orthodox Rum is all about becoming the new Roman Empire and mending the Schism while Sunni Rum is more in line with what the Ottomans were IRL.
Would be way better than the standard system in vanilla.

Yeah, I barely ever form big Formables. Usually once per ever. Like I formed Russia twice ever. Usually I just keep playing as the Minor tag. It's more fun to see like Huge Odoyev. Still, wish I could switch maybe Missions and Ideas without changing my colour and Flag? idk

Its the game's fault not your PC.
I know how the game runs, I've had like 5 different PC configs over the last 4-5 years. A faster CPU 100% causes a noticeable boost in performance.
@@Chewbert So the game is CPU-RAM based like Source games (CS, L4D(2), TF2). I thought it was GPU based.
Good to know since I bought an ARC 770 so that I wont expect too big of a perfomance boost. ;)
