The problem with reversed trade flow is that the AI is hard coded to not colonize downstream, thus no colonies in the new world
It looks like East Asians and Russia will eventually do it though.
What do you think would happen if Trade Routes went both ways?
@@ChloeDaVoir You cant make loops with the Trade Routes without breaking the internal logic( which makes sense as it would multiply to inf)

Korea heading into the Americas is one of the most interesting things to happen in this scenario. Kinda makes me wish there was a custom mission tree where Korea discovers California and colonizes it to escape/overpower China.
That's a point were I agree. I would actually like to see a form of dynamic Mission Tree were the Missions of every nation get adjusted so that they can conquer/colonize everywere.
The trees often do adjust if requirements are objectively impossible. Nothing bigger then that however
6:52 that was a real medieval helmet, it did function quite well as they used it a lot in Western Europe, I think itâs called the Hounskull Bascinet.

As a dutch I agree without spices dutch food would be inedible like its so bland dear lord this is why most popular dutch food is either foreign food or a combination. Fries do not count and if you do there is also spices to put on top of them to spice it up.

timbuktu being a coastal nation at 9:30 killed me for some reason also the Breton helmet was a milanese variant of the hounskul visor on a bascinet. after greathelms fell out of favor in the early 14th century the bascinet with the hounskul visor became synonymous with knights, men-at-arms and anyone described as knightly in the second half of the 14th century. it's last notable usage by armagnac mercenaries invasion of switzerland in 1444.

Can you make an "every province is salt video"? While not an expensive trade good, I think the defensive bonus can be an interesting thing to account for

I wish spices and cloves were more important. Iâd love to see a mod that changes the spice production leader bonus from spy network construction (garbage) to monarch point cost down ~5%. Then youâd see people willing to fight over it like in real life.
Spy network construction is not garbage. At max level spy networks give you 20% siege ability and -30% aggressive expansion with the target nation, those are huge bonuses considering you literally just have to press one button. Having bonuses to construction means that you won't have to wait around as long before it gets to that full bonus. It means you can easily afford to actually use your spy network for other things sometimes, like to sow discontent, which is underrated, that +2 unrest could be enough to make the AI raise autonomy on a bunch of their provinces or maybe they'll conveniently pop up and cause a nuisance when you're at war with them. The AI does seem to actually attack rebels in this patch so it's not as annoying for them as it used to be but it's still something that will give you an advantage over them and it doesn't even cost you anything, it's actually crazy powerful when you really look at it. Espionage ideas are probably my favourite idea group behind diplomatic because of everything I've just said. Don't underestimate the power of spy networks. I mean, if you take Espionage you get extra diplomats for convenient spying, you get bonuses to construction, you get a base 10% siege ability and -20% aggressive expansion, combined with a full spy network you're looking at 30% siege ability and -50% aggressive expansion on all your enemies. How can you tell me that isn't incredibly powerful?
It may not be flashy, but spy network construction is far from garbage imo.

No, in norwegian its Island, do directly translate to iceland, it was originally called SnĂŠland (or well, snowland from old norse), but the name Iceland comes from the permanent icebergs (or Glaciers) on the island. Also, try google "greenland in the summer" and you find its actually very green in certain coastal regions, so it was probably not just an advertisement name,
