  • New Balance FuelCell Rebel v4 review - first run & first impressions. A few years ago I ran in the FuelCell Rebel v2 from the New Balance and was really surprised with how the shoes performed. I loved the lightweight responsive feel of this neutral daily trainer and it went on to become one of my favourite running shoes of the year. Fast forward to 2024 and we've just had the new and updated FuelCell Rebel v4 arrive at Run4Adventure HQ. To say that I'm excited about this pair of shoes is a big understatement so let's get them laced up and take the out for their first run.
    Thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

    Hi Loyd, great video, have you tried the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 yet, wondered how they compared to the Rebel V.4?

    For me I could run fast while enjoying the hell out of it in v2(I went through several pairs) v3 not so much, its OK to run in for me but nothing special, I'll be getting the v4 as soon as it comes out, hopefully it will work well for me

    Just bought my 4th pair of V2s in black. V3 didn't have the same magic to them. Couldn't wait any longer for the V4.

    I am still loving my V3's. They have close to 800k on them, so the V4's are going to get a good look. The V3 is my workhorse for the roads. It gets me through those easy run and are okay for occasionally picking up the pace.

    I like the fuel cell midsole, I’ve tried it in the ‘fuel cell propel v4’ really comfortable and great bounce. Only problem with the show was the grip is awful!

    I liked my Rebel V2's, but found them a tad unstable. Although my ankles are very dodgy... Loyd had to hear all about them at CCC 😂
    I twisted my ankle running straight line on a flat road 😮
    Glad to here they are a tad wider, felt maybe the loose lockdown on lovely soft mid sole was bit unstable on v2's
    Current approach using Saucony Kinvara for shorter runs and xodus ultra on road for my long runs (winter country roads in Ireland are mucky)

    I always find it interesting how people's perception of enough cushioning changes depending on the shoe. These are expected to be a good daily trainer, suitable for long runs etc. but the Adidas takumi sen are considered not cushioned enough for longer than a 10k in most reviewers opinion, even with an extra 3mm compared to these.
    Personally, I really enjoyed the takumi sen for longer runs. And really keen to give these a go. Thanks for a great review as always sir

      @scherry2900 Před 5 měsíci +1

      I think nobody compares pure stack hight to cushion.
      For example Hoka Cielo Road and NB More v4 have simular stack hight and drop. For sure the cielo is no long run shoe like the More V4. The foams are to different.
      Also your takumi for example is for most people not a long run shoe do its narrow fit. Even with a narrow feet your foot should swell when you run 30+ km and then the takumi will be terrible. Short distance racing fit means their is no room for swelling... cause you don't need them.
      If you prefere a harder or a softer ride... Thats personal preference. The Lightstrike Pro (Takumi) is really soft compared to the DNA flash in some Brooks which people use for Marathons or Ultras (Hyperion Elite, Catamount 2).

      @CyrrusNL Před 5 měsíci +1

      Stack height, cushioning and comfort are all separate things. They are also highly subject to personal preference.
      I personally don't enjoy the super deeply cushioned shoes at all. I need a bit of reactivity and ground feel in my shoes. In fact, I do my long runs in the Reebok Floatride 5's, a budget shoe that doesn't particularly excel in any field... but I love that shoe. They just work for me for those long slow days

      It just highlights how personal running shoe choice is Adam and what works for one might not work for another 👍

      @Run4Adventure  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@jontay1987 I haven’t run in the Streakfly unfortunately so it’s hard to say. The Rebel V4 has quite a lot more cushioning than the Streakfly so it should feel softer underfoot 👍

    I didn't think the original Fuelcell was EVA. Isn't it infused TPU or something? which is why some people are not fans of the new midsole... it carries on very little from previous versions? I might be talking nonsense but I thought that's what I've heard.

    Rebel V4 or the fuel cell elite v4?

    • @Run4Adventure
      @Run4Adventure  Před 4 měsíci

      The Rebel and the Elite are very different shoes! It really depends on what you’re looking for? If you want a super stiff carbon plated race day shoe then go for the Elite v4. If you want a lightweight very versatile daily trainer that could still be used on race day I’d recommend the Rebel 👍 Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏

    I am very upset with Hoka. They had one of the absolute best shoes ever with the Hoka mach five, with a huge fan base.
    The Mach 6 has just came out and they did a switch up on all of us loyal mach fans.
    The shoe is now another but Clifton with a different foam. And unfortunately, would you believe they have added a whopping eight millimeters to the stack. The shoe has nothing to do with the original mach series as is only 2mm difference from the Clifton's, give or take. What on earth? Hoka now have nothing for those of us who like a bit of a lower stack and a bit of flexibility without plates, etc.
    These Rebel v4 sneakers Seem to be a very good replacement, particularly with the
    stack height and drop, with only 1mm difference in the drop.
    I know the Hoka Mac 5 was one of your favourite shoes also, so so how would you compare these rebel v 4 to the Hoka mach five? Hoka have lost my business now and im thinking of getting these......
