Yeah, Nintendo and Microsoft be doing the same thing. It's incredibly annoying how hall effect sensors have been around for decades but they refuse to use them. There are third party hall effect controllers but unfortunately they aren't as premium and feature heavy so I don't think they're worth it. The tech industry is just sh*t nowadays.

Yup, I've had the same Ps4 controller since day one, and still has no issues. I've already had two Ps5 controllers develop drift to the point where they're unusable.
Unfortunately, no. They use the same joysticks in nearly all console controllers since the Xbox 360. It's just time and intensity of games played that affect it.
Ironically, the controller started working after this video. This was satire but it seemed to work. I don’t recommend but it was either make a video or toss it in the trash.

They actually made the PS5 controller pretty easy to disassemble and self service. I've cleaned mine and replaced the batteries in them myself very easily.

Taking apart a PS5 controller isn't really that hard it's only for screws except for you have to pop out two buttons at the top to get to two of the screws LOL

Got drift three months in. Took DualS apart , found that the potentiometer wiper tines on the left and right wear away and ultimately break off keep your controller so you can swap those wipers out. Not all of them wear out at the same rate
This is literally what I wanted to do, but I ended up taking the controller apart and cleaning the contacts. It doesn’t drift anymore but now it makes my character walk forward on their own. Sony just dropped the ball with this controller..
Not even lying, I remember when this was happening to me, I straight up hit the hell out of the stick with my phone, and the darn thing started working properly. It’s still got a little bit of drift, but it stopped having a stroke.
Guys all you need to do if you actually don’t want to waist an 80 dollar piece of technology is have 10-20 mins of time, a tiny screwdriver like size 0 and some tweezers. I fixed my stick drift the other day it was super easy. Hardest part is unplugging the flex cords inside to get the stick panel to come out. Just look up how to take apart ps5 controller on CZcams it isn’t hard. Saved myself 80$ and didn’t have to throw away perfectly good tech
When you have drift like that that isnt constant its usually lile fibers that has gotten in to the potentiometers, and its rly ist that hard to take them apart and clean then. Anf if the potentiometers are worn out you can replace then for less than $5 (you have to solder tho)
I know how you feel. I bought my second Dualsense controller back in November 2022. In late December 2023 that controller began to drift in its left analogue stick. I tried to clean it but no use. I wish I could smash it now. This controller is the worst.
There are plenty of videos available to see how to disassemble a PS5 controller. The number 1 cause of stick drift is debris getting inside the analogs. Take the controller apart, use tweezers and fish out the hairs and other debris you find in there. You can prevent stick drift from debris by putting your controller in a Case when not in use. Don't have a case, lay a microfiber cloth or even a zip lock back which covers the whole controller while not in use. I don't fall victim to drift stick because of this method.
I got the new PS5 pro controller but for some reason has a mind of its own, it won't take my input and it just looks around when I don't want it to or it won't respond. The controller is brand new, but it's acting like it has stick drift, also the audio cuts out and is static, do you have any of these issues?

you can spray BW100 in it and that should fix it or 91% or up isopropyl alcohol dropped down in there just a little and move it around should work
