Man, these early 2000s commercials are just such bizarre things, aren't they? For the longest time, I was sure I wasn't missing them, almost glad I'd probably never see them again. Between going through the old tapes again and then having them presented here in a form where the audio and video is actually legible again makes me realize I was at least a little bit wrong in that. Almost makes me wish I could take what I've learned since then and go back to being in my early 20s again so I could avoid some of the mistakes I made at the time.
Thanks for doing all this, Dave! It means loads to all of us who were around to see these things the first time, regardless of if we were kids or not at the time.
These commercials aired during my teens. I must not have heard them in almost two decades and yet for some reason it feels like I only just listened to them yesterday...

Dave, I don't know how often you get this from people in my age group, but your videos have been all but wonderful in helping me see what life and entertainment were like in a time before I was born. They often help me to relax after a long day. And it's especially great seeing a bit of my childhood preserved here, as well. So, on behalf of the Golden Age Thinker within me, I thank you.

Season 3 of Digimon, aka, Digimon Tamers, was *sooo* much better than season 2. Probably one of the darkest Digimon series, too.
I do not remember that Xavix thing at all.

"Cheeseasaurus Rex" was something I completely forgot about.

13:35 I had forgotten how absolutely stupid the Skittles commercials used to be 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I always laughed my butt off at this specific one.
The 2000s always remind me of my teen years where i worked at substance abuse prevention bureau. Which is very specific lol. Or i'd be at the library with friends. Talking about music, life and using the computers because of the free internet. Didnt get into Digimon though. Pokemon was more my speed. But the anime of the 90s had long passed and transition stuff like Dragon Ball Z.

I was 19 years old in 04. Looking back I can appreciate these TV commercials now although back then I was saying nothing beats 90s TV commercials and ads..even till this day.
Almost forgot about Xavix, it was the Wii before the Wii that failed, and failed hard because each game needed a specific controller.

I just want to thank you for this one specifically. Your videos are always great because I love classic commercials cause they're such a great time capsule of the period they were made in and it's utterly fascinating. And I always see people comment about remembering the ads but I've never been one of them, cause all the ads usually predated my birth, (apologies to those reading who now feel ancient) but this time, I think apart from the specific local commercials, I was probably watching Jetix the morning that these aired. That Power Rangers Battilizer marathon ad really got me because I remember watching that marathon and seeing the Dino Thunder episode the day it aired. I also remember eating the Lunchables Chicken Dunks which were... well not as good as the commercial makes it seem. And that Cap'n Crunch ad was a classic that I remember very fondly. And of course, the Shirley Temple DVD set! It was nice to feel like a kid again for a half hour.

Becoming popular? It was already massively popular as it was nearly a decade old franchise by 2004 with the original card game having been released in Japan in Feb. 1996. 🤦♂️
@CommodorFan what I mean is it got more popular in the early 2000s especially when they were teasing Gen 2 Pokemon Gold and Silver. Pokemon blew up in the late 90s with Red and Blue in here in the states while in Japan it was Red and Green.

Yes, I was in my early to mid 20's in this time period, but I always was a fan of animated shows (even to this day) so I remember some of these commercials (because I tuned into the occasional show that would catch my interest). These years were the "twilight years" for Saturday morning cartoons. By that, I mean anything after 2002 (the year "Fox Kids" ended, and around when the Pokemon phenomenon started to decline on Kids WB), up until 2014 when the last Saturday morning programming block line ended (it was "Vortexx" on the CW). Around 2014 is also when Ronald McDonald was replaced as the McDonalds mascot (I was happy to see Ronald McDonald in some of the commercials here).
“Fox Kids” was replaced with the 4KidsTV programming block. I was a teen and the only shows my twin sister would get excited about (Kirby and girly anime shows) were on 4Kids.

Xavix was like the Wii, but worse, as each game needed it's own specific controller, the games where only sports games with bad graphics even for the time that came on ROM carts that were awkward to insert into the system, it was not very accurate having an IR sensor about the size of one found on a common TV of the time. There was a reason that POS "game system" bombed hard!!
Edit: the only thing noteworthy about it was that Jackie Chan had fitness games attached to it that needed its own BS worth of acessories to play. You can look up the Game Dave video on it titled: XaviX Port Jackie Chan Fitness J-MAT and PowerBoxing | Game Dave

I might remember seeing some of these commercials when I was 14. I was transitioning to watching more "adult" related shows, and kids commercials were something of yesteryear for me. I occasionally tuned in to a kids channel like Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. They were both going through changes to appeal to the next generation of kids, and it was growing boring to me. I had some of the best years during my teenage days. I miss it.
Wow, I don't remember the My Little Ponies lasting that long before it morphed into the MLP Friendship is Magic show and toy lines. That 80s jingle is so timeless!

I remember seeing all of these as a kid on Saturday mornings. I wish he'd make more videos like this from the 90s and other 2000s. The toy and game commercials then were awesome. Need more ones that cater to the kids of these eras

Honestly, is it really so bad that different generations have different forms of nastolgia? It cant all be Hide'n'Seek and Big Wheels for every Generation, im a Millenial, born in '89 and these commercials are definitely right up my brainwave that hits my nastolgic wave of comfort
@@StacyL. My good friends kids are 6 to 8. Sure, they like playing video games but so did I at their age except for me it was Nintendo or Sega Genesis and for him It's PS4.
He got Hot Wheels for his birthday and I helped him set up the track and everything. His brothers and sisters play Hide and Seek. They wouldn't sell Hot Wheels anymore if people weren't buying them.
Really a kid having a phone in their face says more about their parents than the kids. Shitty parents will give their kids a phone with a game to shut them up and be a "babysitter."

The point was that it doesn't matter whether it's hide n seek or doing anything else outside. The point is that too many kids have a phone shoved in their face for 12,15, 20 hours a day and it's not healthy! Our bodies are meant to sit all the time. Thankfully, I raised my kids to love being outdoors and not sit in front of a computer or phone all day. Do you know how many generations played Hide n Seek before yours? Try since the second century AD.... Yours is the first to really shun the game which would be approximately 80! That's a big deal in my book.
