Remember hating these commercials when I was 16. Now I am watching them repeatedly in my late 30âs with a proverbial tear rolling down my cheek.
Well said.
its trippy there were still heavy 80s vibes into the early 2000s
Yes, then 9/11 happened...
I was still in high school by the 2000s. And commercials were still vibrant. But with a slight futuristic feeling going forward. Things started looking sleek. However not to the point where things started losing their character. Movies and music were still great. & The internet had not completely taken over. So people were still hanging out at malls , libraries and the house of friends. Yep the days were still good to us before 911.
Commercials seemed to stop being funny abruptly after this. That DiGiorno's one seriously made me laugh. We lost an edge somewhere between now and then.
After 9/11 the world wasnt the same
@@johnnyweissmuller5838 very good point.
â@@johnnyweissmuller5838 I still don't blame 9/11. We were all united as a nation after 9/11. Maybe starting in 2003, when we became divided over Iraq, or maybe when the economy crashed around 2008/2009 (and social media took over)....at some point between 2003 and 2008, it all "stopped being funny". Also, commercials stopped being memorable by the 2010's.
Caving to professional (victims) of the expanding sport of oppression is whatâs doing it.I believe once we stop worrying about what these (victims) label us and start putting them in their place things weâll get better. And stop giving these woke companyâs your money. Money is the loudest vote.
Commercials just aren't the same. I suspect the rise of social media probably impacted the way companies advertise but still, a little effort and creativity never hurt anyone.
I remember all of these commercials well. 10 years old in 2000. Great year for my childhood.
3:24 I remember when cable internet was catching on. My dad had DSL as his old work place back around 2000, and he loved it. We had a 56K modem until 2001 I believe, when we switched to cable internet. It was so much faster. 6:08 I loved Cartoon Fridays on Cartoon Network! Good ol' Powerhouse Era of Cartoon Network. 7:40 and 7:55 Those older Geico commercials were pretty funny
Insane how a commercial can take you back in your mind to different times in your life
I graduated high school in 2000, why does it feel so long ago? đđđ
Class of '01 here...I'm right there with you sir
2000 here as well, and I will be turning 41 in just a few weeks, so yeah time really does fly!!
Not that far from you lol. Class of 2003
I forgot Tom Green did Right Guard commercials 2000 was 22 years ago đđđ man how đ° flys by đ for another classic! đŻđ đšđ„đ§đ§đ§
Loved the William Shatner commercial, also I was so jealous of anyone in my area who could get anything faster than 56K dial-up internet in 2000, as it was not till late 07 when I finally got cable internet with 8Mbps/2Mbps, and yes 2000 was the year I graduated high school, and now I'm turning 41 just a few weeks, man how time flies!!
Happy bday bro!
Oh yeah! Man, you were considered a baller if you had broadband internet around this time.
Ah yes, Y2K. My last year, if not my last semester as a full-time undergrad student. Awesome time, awesome place, glad to have the memories this episode brings back. I'm especially glad that the Williams and Ree movie spot made the cut. Never saw their stuff, but they sure did good ads for them.
Damn I feel old !!! 22 years just flew by đ thank you for a flashback to the good time before the world went to hell !! Also this is one my fave retro channels...commercials from 2000 is retro..ahh let me go cry now lol
Thx Jess! đâ€ïžđŒ
Why do I feel so bummed that 2000 is known as "Retro"?
Yep commercials were still legitimately hilarious up until this point. There was a few good ones in the collection.
I was a junior in highschool in 2000 this really makes 22 years feel like an eternity.
I was 17 years old living in Glendale queens nyc with my mom and my brother and it was my sophomore year and Francis Lewis high school in fresh meadows queens nyc
one of your best imho great variety: William shatner is ageless and hilarious while Tom Green is still annoying; the sears tag line is great though sears is no more; and seeing Mickey Rooney in an insurance ad - wow. thanks, dave be safe!
another thing about these commercials, they seem both old, artifacts from a vanished world, & utterly contemporary, like they were made just yesterday, but the babies, & children in these ads are now in their 20s & 30s. i am old!
I pay for Premium because I typically hate commercials⊠but here I am; enjoying commercials đ
i love these early internet commercials. who remembers the ISP Channel? i don't! these ads were made right around the dot com bust when every new digital services seemed like magic. but what gets me is how the fashions & hairstyles haven't changed very much these 22 years. other than the clunkiness of the digital products on offer in these ads i'd be hard pressed to answer definitively what year that commercial with Josie Bissett was made. but these ads were created in a different world. a world before 9/11, the 2008 financial crash etc etc. what a trip it's been!

The world ended in 2001.
đ
We entered an alternate timeline. Laugh all you want. I look at these times just before 9/11 and I just want to cry.
agreed
People blame 911....but I feel like it was social media. It sucked the soul from people and still does.
William Shatner was the Priceline spokesperson before Kaley Cuoco took over...
The woman @4:04 reminds me of Marcy from Married With Children
Uncle Leo? Hello! - The Giant Pig
yep!!!!!!! you rock!!!! you make it possible to get a glimpse of my childhood đ€©THANKS!!!!!!!
16:48 wcw monday nitro
Yep, and only about a year before Vince bought WCW, but man what a crazy year for WCW it was đ
And now Vince has retired.... The time man... Where does it go

R.I.P. Internet Explorer
I loved Mickey Rooney even as a little girl. Loved to see the old touch tone phones instead of a cell phone in commercials that told you how to reach them by phone.
Memorable commercials from the 2000s.
Is here.
How did that cable modem worked? Was the internet fast like how it was advertised?
Ah the golden age of Cartoon Network thru Cartoon Cartoon every Fridays đ I always looked forward to it since I was allowed to watch t.v after school
Roughly 8Mps/2Mps with the cable modem from what i remember, the insanity of such speeds we didnt know what to do with ourselves
I couldnât be the only one that looked up Totem Reecall RIGHT after I saw right đ
HEY! I'M LEARN'N' THE COMPUTER! THANKS, VIDEO PROFESSOR!
4:16 âControls work just like a VCRâ I wonder if they knew those controls would outlast the VCR
More early 2000s content! :))
My favorite CZcamsr its dave time its dave timeeeeeee
I really want to see this "Totem Reecall" movie...
Holy shit casselton pizza ranch!
Do you weed out the local commercials? I would watch those too.
I was 9 then and the world changed so much once the 9/11 attacks happened.
#TNTCentricEveryone!
I always thought that girl in the Bowflex commercial was hot.
Is your intro music from a song or no I wanna dance everytime I hear it
Mickey Rooney was married eight times I had nine kids that dude was getting it
6:23 cute chick
Back when commercials weren't woke.
Got married in 2000 so I don't remember any of these commercials.đ€Ł
still 30fps.
Man I forgot how cringy those Expedia William Shatner commercials were. Itâs funny because it seems like I was just watching most of these in TV. âïžđŒđ§
