I remember this so well. I've developed a real affinity with NZ throughout my 'adult' life (visiting quite a few times)...but as an early teenager, I remember being none too pleased about these two NZ goals!

in 30 years sine then, Scotland obviously regressed in their quality, while NZ clearly progressed. Yet Scotland is probably still a better side than NZ now..
It's probably not so much a case if Scotland regressing but everyone else getting better. Also the fact the EPL/first division which a lot if Scots used to play in, as opened its ranks to the whole world.
@@evanaskew6652 I think that you could throw a blanket around the top 30 - 40 teams in the world. I think that Scotland will find it hard to qualify for top tournaments. New Zealand have had their opportunities to progress, but when they look as though they will improve their rankings, they score administrative own goals, and the games goes backwards. It two steps forwards and three steps backwards with NZ. For such a small country, we are starting to produce players who can hold their own on the world stage.
From what I saw of Scotland at the Euro 2020; I think there wouldn’t be much between the two sides at all.
New Zealand’s striker Chris Wood is definitely a class above Scotland’s rather average Lyndon Dykes.
