Benalmádena: The best place to live in Spain
The magazine International Living has named the five best places to live in all of Spain besides the well-publicized bigger cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante and Málaga. Guess who ran with the trophy?
Benalmádena is the number #1 place to live in Spain!
Why is Benalmádena such a wonderful city?
It is of course located on the beautiful Costa del Sol, where you get more than 320 days of sunshine per year, but what else does Benalmádena offer?
Anneli and Andreas, two real estate agents from Mojo Estates, will give you a tour of the area and show you some of the great things about the city. There is a long list of reasons why several of the people from the Mojo team and 70.000 others have decided to settle down in Benalmádena, including Anneli herself.
A fantastic location
The municipality of Benalmádena consists of three main urban areas known as Benalmádena Pueblo, Benalmádena Costa and Arroyo de la Miel.
See Benalmádena from the sea when Jacob and Tristan are out sailing to explore the area.
Benálmadena Pueblo is the original village which is a typical white Andalusian village located approximately 200 metres above sea level. Benalmádena Costa is, as the name reveals, the area along the coast. Arroyo de la Miel (which translates to honey stream) is a separate village between the two other urban areas. It has become the main residential area and more or less the city centre.
The municipality of Benalmádena is less than 20 minutes from Málaga Airport and is located between the capital of Costa del Sol, Málaga, and the luxurious Marbella. There is around 22 km to the centre of Málaga and 40 km to Marbella by car, and you can easily take the train that goes all the way from Fuengirola to the centre of Málaga.

What does Mojo mean?

The name is a contraction of our surnames MOensted and JOhansen

WE have lived in Benalmadena Pueblo (the old village) for 11 years, and never tire of its beauty
I’ve ridden back and forth aboard the RENFE between Malaga Centro and Fuengirola on a few occasions, and love the entire region. The sounds and announcements on the train are the same as they were when I first got to know the area 23 years ago. I’m certain I romanticize the place in my own mind now, but a lot of it is justified. I’m a barely middle class American so as you know, southern Spain feels like quite an upgrade in, well….every conceivable way.
Arroyo de la Miel which is part of Benalmadena is without doubt the best place to live. it is the most easy of places to live.
i go often lovely walk back to torremilonos along the beach
Thank you
Nice video 👍
Good information, Anneli. Thanks for showing Cindy and me around Benalmadena and Costa del Sol. Your Trocadero restaurant recommendation was right on. We look forward to coming back and enjoying the area more long-term.
Thanks Joe and Cindy! It was a real pleasure showing you around!
Excellent summary! Thanks! Sub + 👍
Beautiful video.
Benalmádena is amazing, in winter, summer, autumn, spring.
does it have cool summers and warm winters
My favorites place benalmadena
Barely any mention if any of the grandiose Benalmadena marina?... not to be missed! In last May, I absolutely enjoyed staying at Benalmadena. Very easy to visit Malaga by bus (parking is a mess).
Nice video, it'd be a plus if you could also talk about the educational institutions, businesses, commerce activities and jobs for foreigners... very nice place. Thanks!
And Julian also show all the local amenities in the area.
Nice video guys, I will be there at september to look for a place to live next year. I will get in touch.
Sounds great Eduardo, contact us on info@mojoestates.com if you have any questions?
Nothing beats Costa Blanca!🥰
They all have their charm and positive points.
Have you ever been to Almeria and its coast? Or Galicia?
I was scared because of the music, I was waiting for blood or something xD VIVA ANDALUCIA by the way :)
The best place to live chosen by who? What about Majorca or even the Canary Islands - which are noted by a US university to have the most pleasant climate to live in the world.
US university😂😂
To.each their own, but wouldnt be my choice on the Costa.Del.Sol!
Excelent.I hate those drums !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, horrible!!!!!!!!
the noice totally destroyed the video.....
Unfortunately many people can only dream about it . . . . . ..Keep playing LOTTO. never give up your dream
Nah, you can do it. I'm working on moving to Barcelona. I'm sure that whatever your skill set is, you can do it in Spain as well. The food, climate, and the people are great.
Sad that people can dream about this kind of living! Usually boring, devoted to all that is fickle and superfluous. Taking a short break there is not a lotto issue.
The edit is too jerky, not enough time lingering on each shot to be able to take in what you are describing. Can`t see the point in your video, slow down folks.
Is Andreas from Denmark? If so: Hav en dejlig dag, Andreas!
I am a little surpised. I live there and the 2 negatives are too many hills and too many Brexit Brits !
You are right, but still good.
Me to as in many tourist read short term rentals as neighbors brrrr
@@dire6005 e2
Very hilly, not good for older people. It’s close to Malaga and has a direct rail link to airport
Hills is good to hear, free gym!
What’s the name of the Danish school there ??
Bifrostskolen
hello what is the name of English school please?
That’s sweet you both have same bun.
Play music louder, to nobody can hear
Aren't there water shortages with the climate crisis going on now and in the future ?
The loud music ruind this video!
Nope, the best places in Spain are the ones that are not seasonal and dyes during winter and not the ones full retirees or the ones that very overpriced. Costa Blanca has plenty of very affordable cities with vibrant communities all year round.
the cable car is fucking far from the paloma park, mam
La Cala de mijas. One of the best beaches in the world. Blue flag
Mijas on the Motorway?
@@Julia-fo4tk La Cala de mijas (mijas costa)
Do you have to fly to the playa? The motorway blocks access. I thought beaches were supposed to be tranquil places.
@@Julia-fo4tk the motorway does not block access I don’t know what you’re talking about 🤣
Irritating video style Too much motion for no reason.
The flashing screen effect is irritating.
i like it is family friendly as you mention. Is it also a good area for LGBT expats?
Amazing video but that horrible music in the first 3.5 mins was unbearable, barely heard a thing you guys were talking about.
The editing and background music is awful! Choppy visuals and loud backgroung are hiding the content.
NO,the best place in Spain has cool summers and warm winters
It's to hilly and it's gone a bit scruffy
To many tourist read short term rentals as neighbors brrr
Más integración con las costumbres españolas, nos sentimos extranjeros en nuestro país, no me gustan mucho los ingleses, son muy prepotentes y desprecian lo local..
Para que querrían los ingleses "integrarse" en España? Vienen a retirarse no a trabajar. Bajate los humos, para los europeos España es poco más que una tierra salvaje y exótica.
Muy bien aqui . Punta totalmente verdad . Yo soy de Canada y me conoce mas y mas de la idioma . Este es muy importante . Vive en Espana - learn the language !!! Conocze la idioma !!! Oy oy oy a los ingleses en particular . Totalmente Las personas desde esta pais uffffff . Me no gusta tambien amigo Andaluz .
Cheese
That constant drumming is aggressive and drowns out your voices. Horrible.
this is not the real Spain. In the past it was a beautiful town but now it is an amusement park for tourists. If you are looking to integrate into the Spanish culture you should look for another place, with less luxuries but more authentic.
Who told you they want to "integrate" in Spanish culture, why would they do that? They go for retirement, the beaches and nice weather. Nobody cares about Spanish culture.
The person who did the sound should not be given any more gigs. Loud jarring drumming drowns out the commentary. Think s/he must have something against the presenters. Doesn’t want them to be heard. 😂😂😂
Total unmitigated rubbish. Benalmádena is expat land of Dagenham in their sun, devoid of most things Spanish
Description
WTF is that dreadful pounding music? Makes it unwatchable
Noooo anywhere further along the coast is way better ... Marbella is much better
Agree as a better location, location means less short term rentals around and tourist as neighbors.
And really who cares what International Living says?
Terrible editing bye bye
😮
ruined by too many brits ....Benalmadena overdeveloped ....what has the luxury lifestyle of Marbella got to do with anything ...luxury does not rub off...what a load of tosh
Too many drunken British yobs in that area
really! they need to get real.benalmadena.i think is just a typical costa town.bit like a cheaper marbella.
Me and my Wife went to Sitges beach just outside of Barcelona . Its Garbage . Nothing Special at all . ! Majorca and Malaga or Croatia or Greece is Much batter !
We love Málaga & the Costa del Sol
