Another great video, thank you. My wife and I are both long time serious photographers and have traveled to Iceland and other places on a plane and I agree with everything you said. We photograph landscapes and birds and wildlife so packing large telephoto lens (like the canon 500 f4 ) along with multiple wide angle lens makes it challenging. I also have a Shimoda bag similar to yours (action X30) and have not had any problems getting it on the plane. Getting on board earlier helps. I really like how the top unfolds so it can barely fit the 500 lens along with the other lens. It is very heavy though, but I convince myself I need the workout. We also put our tripods in the luggage wrapped with a towel or clothes. We cover the tripod head by putting one of our hiking boots over it so it protects it. Going out of the states is pretty easy to get through security. It is when you come back to the U.S. that they scrutinize everything little thing. Once they confiscated a small allen wrench that I use for my tripod. Like I will unscrew a panel and take apart the plane with it. I make sure I pack my leatherman and matches and all of my tools in my luggage. We just got back from Leavenworth and Silver Falls also, took some of the same shots of the Falls. Beautiful places. Have fun in Europe!
