- Legendary actor Peter O'Toole (1932-2013) pays a visit to David Letterman in order to promote his new film "Phantoms".
He instead decides to share two hilarious stories from his childhood and theatre life, involving a dead father christmas and a deck chair, which literally had me in tears with laughter. A perfect example of his great storytelling and wonderfully eccentric personality.
Unfortunately no great video quality, however I hope you will enjoy watching him twist his hair as much as I did! - Zábava
I love the way he respectfully turns and acknowledges the band as he comes on, and then they stand and applaud him in return. We need more genteel, kind moments like this in our mad, selfish world. Bravo!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. 100% agree with you sir
Still having not enough anecdotes about Sir O'Toole's professional and private life. I'm truly amazed. What a vivid, sharp energy! Unique, brilliant, wise and superb person!
Incredible story-teller, I couldn't stop giggling.
Such an class act. Forever Peter O' Toole. Lived his life to the full..
Mr O'Toole is a great storyteller. He has the most graceful command of the English language. I strive to speak as eloquently as does he.
I remember watching this very interview, live. I remember vividly crying with laughter! A master storyteller of which Charles Dickens would have been envious.
Such a classy guy with a voice like silk a fabulous actor and sadly missed. They don't make actors like him anymore
A true gentleman with a wonderful English and a fantastic narrator who knows when to pause. Wonderful humor also has this gentleman.
An incredible storyteller and gentleman. Charm, wit, brilliance...
I shall be in love with him as long as I breathe... just saw What's Nrw, Pussycat?, and he abd Peter Sellers had me roaring with laughter. But Dean Spanley will always be my favourite (and My Favourite Year). ❤
What a impeccable spoke suit he wore for this particular interview. A gentleman from head to toe.
Peter is hilarious! Love his stories. Thx for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
.....'same fella'.....omg absolute gold....God bless him.
He could’ve been a stand up comedian if he could! RIP O’Toole...
Just love his gestures and the cute way he smiles and dandy way he puts his hands. He is such a gentleman and somehow quite child-like in this interview. He is more handsome now than he's been for a long time. He grew better-looking with age and more happier. Some of his interviews he seems quite sad. Poor darling. RIP Peter.
What a lovely sentiment.

Oh I love him ❤❤❤
Sprinkling of magic 🙂
Thank you !
This guy would've nailed the Dumbledore role.
Unfortunately they had to settle for Richard Harris............
Actually after Richard Harris sadly passed away, his family considered his close friend Peter O'Toole as a replacement for The Prisoner of Azkaban but unfortunately the studio feared that Peter O'Toole wouldn't be healthy enough to carry on for the rest of the franchise. Even though he passed away 2 years after The Deathly Hallows part 2.
Agree! Richard Harris was perfect as Dumbledore. He had that warmth and twinkle in his eye that Michael Gambon didn't bring to the role. O'Toole would have brought that same warmth and twinkle to Dumbledore.
Unfortunate that they settled with Gambon. Although Gambon admittedly got better, he was still just wrong imo. Harris was amazing.
@@raoul2650 Harris was great on his role like every role he had. His best friend is O'toole
Fire seemed to follow him around -- there's the story of his setting the kitchen on fire while trying to make French toast.
😂❤❤❤
Ah great, a new interview, where did you find it?.
Sharp suit.
Hi Anton Ego.
Letterman needs to shut up, listen and learn
Alcoholics. Curious how we make heroes out of these terribly weak people!
