  • Toyota un-veiled the new for 2025 6TH Generation 4Runner on April 9th upon many teaser photographs. We here at ODTRP wanted things to cool off a bit before publishing this video, our common sense take from a mechanical engineering perspective as a 4 cylinder turbo behaves so much different than the tried and and established outgoing 4.0 V6, another great power plant thrown under the bus by Toyota.
We offer our thoughts and perspective.
    Enjoy!!!!

Great financial choice. Are you sure you won’t miss out on a 4 Banger with a price increase and Tacoma parts?

I am hoping that the Land Cruiser Mini (however it will be called) will be offered with a naturally aspirated engine and automatic transmission. Basically an upgrade of my 2005 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I like the 5 Gen 4 Runner but it is bigger than what I need and would be challenging to back out of my garage space.

Fifth gen seem to look more like a truck. 6 gen reminds me of a car.

I like the looks of the 25 trail hunter, but i bet i won't like the price tag, i know i won't like the button transfer case shifter, probably won't like the 8 speed transmission, if driving in town that transmission is gonna be like mr Biden, its not gonna know what the hell its doing.
So glad i was able to get a 24 trd off road premium 4Runner about a month in a half ago. Half to pass on the 25.

I don't want an echo-friendly, fancy space truck. I want a reliable truck.

The trail hunter is probably the better-looking one, but to be completely honest, i think the 6th gen 4runnner has lost its identity. I find it looks too much like the Tacoma. The 4runnner was always different to whatever else is out there, but not anymore. I'll be keeping my 2016 4runner trail.

You need to be mature to have a level mind about these new engines. I wouldn’t take one to have long term if given to me. Too much future cost and headaches. The turbos of 80’s … they said these are going to be better. They can’t be a whole lot better as the inherent problems just exist with turbos. Do some research for yourself and just not a couple videos either. I would be rushing out to get a ‘24 before gone. They aren’t making good engines for any make of vehicles anymore!!! As bad as the economy is this is going to be just one more added nuisance and crazy cost. The government has got to get out of ruining appliances and vehicles and other things. In trying to make them efficient (appliances) and better gas mileage for vehicles to satisfy imaginary environmental concerns. I would be willing to gamble that these new 6th Gen 4Runners along with the Tacomas, Tundras and some of their hybrids are really setting themselves up for failure. Toyota isn’t going to keep the reputation they have earned in the past. From 22 on the Tundras are failing and watch to see what happens with these.
