Wow.. most awaited video. Your video production quality escalated to top-notch category! Well done 👏
I’m still using the same gear and space… just have a consistent rig and setup now… so I can FINALLY make things look and sound consistent (even though I film with natural light). You’ve been here since the very beginning… so you’ve seen the full journey.
This is definitely a video many have been asking for in the comments.
Your description and comparison as it relates to the race day shoes is bang on. It's a level of detail that I think is missing from most other reviews and comparisons. Great vid!
I appreciate the kind words. That’s what I’m trying to do, especially in these “vs” videos… to make the distinctions as clear as possible.
Great video thank you. Fast becoming my go to channel for all things running. Really enjoy your delivery and detail.
I appreciate the kind words. I’m glad the content is useful! 🤙🏻
This is the exact comparison I am doing now. I was using the Superblast as my daily trainer and for this month switched exclusively to the B12 to break them in and after swapping out the laces I love them. Tomorrow I will go back to the Superblast to help make my final judgement.
I will send you a picture question on instagram thanks for the excellent content and waiting on the Shower Video 😂
Spending time with both shoes is key. Break-in for both is important.
That shower video will likely be a sink video. No one wants to see that. 😂
Thank you for this review!! thats exactly what I am looking for
Glad it was helpful! 🤙🏻
Great video as always!!! The Boston 12 is incredible!
It certainly is. I’m surprised just how much I’m enjoying it. 🤙🏻
This is the best running shoe video I’ve ever watched. Instant subscriber
I appreciate the support. Plenty more like this one on the channel. 🤙🏻
This was a great breakdown. It really helps people like me understand what shoes to lean towards.
Excellent. That’s exactly what I want to do with this content. Happy running. 🤙🏻
Great analysis and presentation!
Thank you. I hope you found it of some value. 🤙🏻
Haven’t tried the Superblast but i do love my Novablast 3's or the Novablast 4''s. Great shoe in my opinion. Awesome video review BTW 💪
The Superblast is the big brother for both. It is a unique shoe.
The comparison I have been waiting for. Great video! Excellent recommendations. No wonder I didn’t like the Vaporfly 3 and the Edge+ because I do like a lot of foam. It’s probably why I’m a huge fan of the Superblast. I like the Sky+ for racing as well. I do have the Edge+ but only use it for 5ks because it is a very snappy ride. 10k-42k, I use the Sky+. I completed my first marathon this year on the Superblasts. They peformed exceptionally well. I wasn’t so sore either the next fee days. I was back running 3 days later. You’ve solidified my choices. I’ll definitely consider the AF 3 but that volt color is hideous in my opinion. 😂 I’ll definitely wait for more colors to come in.
I love the edge + for 5K I get such good turnover in them and feel great afterwards. I don’t own the Adidas Pro 3 or the Asics Sky+ and feel like the VF3 holds me back. I need to find a new Marathon race day shoe but waiting on the Adidas Pro 4 probably.
I have to admit… the volt AF3 colorway is growing on me… but still it is bad.
I’m glad this was useful and informative! 🤙🏻
Love the B12. My favorite long run, tempo, and interval shoe. Even raced it in a full marathon. Just picked up the AP3 for my next half and full marathons this fall. Noosa Tri 14 is my go to for hill repeats and stride repeats. Nimbus 25 is my recovery shoe of choice. Most looking forward to the Adidas SL v2.
I too am VERY much looking forward to the Adizero SL 2… it looks outstanding. 🤙🏻
I have both the Boston 12 & Superblast and love both shoes.
Do agree the Boston 12 felt very firm yet comfortable. And the superblast felt more comfortable but and very supportive able to run faster 😊
Good video.
The stability differences between the two shoes are remarkable. The Superblast is such a wide platform. Both have a great feel as well… great execution of the brands technologies.
Spot on!
👍🏻
I'd love to see a video where you classify the different approaches to super shoes for more brands and shoes like the Endorphin Pro 3 or the Hoke Rocket X2, like how you did in the latter half of the video (not sure if you have done one yet)
Otherwise, loving the content so far!
I’ve been thinking about doing that actually. I’ll likely wait until the fall though when all the 2024 super shoes are out. There are a few major ones to release this year that may change things up.
But essentially the two “camps” for super shoes are what I mentioned in this video. There are a handful of outliers… but the top ones are are what I mentioned in this video.
Nice
You nailed it
I race in the adios pro 3
And most my long training miles in the superblast with shorter runs in the bostons
That is exactly my scenario as well
Perfect combo there… 🤙🏻
Concise, direct and to the point. But it answered all my questions already, which was to cover all training bases you need both shoes
This video is almost too short for me😂 want longer form (I'm not complaining here😂😂)
I have now fitted on foot and on a treadmill both the Superblast and Novablast 4. I don't really care about the price anymore. Superblast all the way, the ride was so much smoother and and a bit more softer compared to the NB4.
Videos under 10mins are rare for me. 😂 plenty of 20min+ ones coming.
It’s hard to beat the SB but do prefer the NB4 for easy causal daily miles. The SB is better when I’m training for something specific. But I am splitting hairs there.
Agreed 💯 I will race on AP3 and these two models, Superblast and Boston 12 are the best companions for my training. Work very well to help me deliver the desired pace in every single workout and long run so far. Absolutely grateful and happy with these.
You can’t go wrong with either and the AP3. There seems to be many who thought I was saying the B12 doesn’t work with the AP3 in my B12 review video. My point was more there is a lot of overlap and the AP3 is very able to do training kms and race, it is very durable. So you don’t NEED the B12. However, the B12 works quite well with the shoe… especially if you like a more direct ride.
The AP3 is quite interesting as it can go either way with both of these shoes. So much so that I’ve been running in my pair for AP3s again (which plenty of band-aids/plasters 😵).
You definitely have the right tools for your upcoming races.
😢 oh no! Sorry to hear your AP3 experience! Maybe it might be the socks instead of the shoes that hurt your feet?
@@01lsw It’s the design of the upper, it is a common problem. I have a video on the problem.
I’m using slightly thicker socks than normal AND the band-aids/plasters… it’s annoying … but worth it for the midsole!
Glad I don’t have such problem with the upper🙏 Yes, the midsole is brilliant!
@01lsw You are lucky! 🍀
Prime X2 Strung vs SuperBlast vs SC Trainer v3 (fall 24) would be an amaaaazing video for those "super trainers"
I have to agree, I follow you since a very very long time (just subbed recenlty as the videos became more consistent) because its hard to find a shoegeek like myself and even more difficult someone who even does videos. And the quality of the videos gets better and better and better. Some more music and some running footage and you could grow to Kofuzi level I think. Anyway, really thank you for all the work you put into your videos.
Ever video has a music intro… run footage is in review videos… though in this “vs” video I had some run Broll that worked for both… but yes consistency and production quality are my current focus. I just got my setup rig dialed and everything working as it should. Production consistency is here for the moment… let’s see how it works when I travel.
I appreciate the kind words and the support! 🤙🏻
For me, the decision came down to the $47 cost of the B12. Luckily it worked out well. I like the LSP and found the AP2 in my size for just inside a hundred bucks and will use those for my upcoming first ever half marathon next week and future marathons. Loving it so far! Still want to try the Superblast some day.
A deal is a deal. Great price on the B12!
Great comparison. I own both, and use them for different workouts.
Can you tell a little more about what kind of workouts you are using them for? I have B12 and been thinking of buying SB next.
@MikaV.-cp5qg B12 for tempo & threshold runs, typically < 14 mi. SB for easy pace long runs or long runs with uptempo paces like fast finish & race pace surges, typically > 14 mi.
Thanks a lot!
@@MikaV.-cp5qg happy running 🏃♂️
Yes… this is similar for me as well.
Unfortunately, they don't do big enough size in the superblast for me to try them. Would be interesting to see a comparison with the Saucony Endorphin Speed and Pro 4
I’m going to try to cover the ES4… but it might be a while. Saucony doesn’t really exist in Taiwan… they are around but hard to find the top performance models.
I have both, (Boston 12 in wide), and to me the Superblast wins in all categories, except outsole grip.
I would expect that to be what most people feel. As good as the B12 is the SB is more user friendly and has a broader sweet spot.
Personally, as a non-elite runner, the rods in the B12 make it a lovely tempo trainer and marathon race shoe, which seems wonderfully durable and perfectly structured for these applications.
Question. . . . Would you say the Endorphin pro 3 falls more into the “Alphafly camp” or the “Vaporfly camp” as you categorized them in this video . . .? Thanks!!
Irs more Vaporfly as the plate dips lower in the forefoot. As opposed to staying flat under the foot like the Alphafly or Sky+/Paris.
Also, Can I just ask you were quite critical of the Saucony Kinvara Pro for being a plated daily trainer, however, the Boston you seem quite positive about. Do you think there is a large difference between the two shoes? Thanks
There is a massive difference. The foams are considerably better in the B12. The rods make a huge difference too.
The KP and the Mach X are also tuned for slower running… which makes no sense. It seems Hoka is tuning the Mach X2 more for faster running now.
The KP is a shoe they doesn’t need to exist. The Endorphin series has it all covered already.
have you tried or do you consider getting mizuno wave rebellion pro? I'm curious about your perspective on that extreme, tricky 'legal' racing sho.
Mizuno is on my radar and I’m paying attention now… but currently am undecided on when to jump in and try. Additionally, while Mizuno is huge here in Taiwan they are all golf and baseball… performance running is rare. Next time I’m in Japan though I will take a closer look.
For me it was a fit thing. The midfoot of the Boston 12 felt noticeably narrower than the Superblast, so I sent it back before I could get a ton of miles in them. Just uncomfortable. The slightly wider last the Adios 8 and Adios Pro 3 are on works and I have both of those shoes and am happy with them. That said, for my money, the Superblast and Endorphin Speed are the best shoes available. Note: Nike also tends to be too narrow, so I’m not comparing the VF or any of the company’s trainers against this statement.
Interesting to know. I prefer a narrower midfoot, always have, but don’t have issue in either shoe.
The VF3 is considerably more narrow in the midfoot and heel than the B12. Also the Metspeed Sky+ is even more narrow in the midfoot and heel than the VF3.
Great video comparison! With this now I would definitely put Deviate Nitro 2 in that same position of Boston 12: less foam under the forefoot, carbon fiber plate close to the ground, so a more direct and nimble feel. That's what I really feel running with DN2! Tks for this chart!
I’m looking forward to trying the DN3 this year and seeing how they hold up against these two. I’ve head so much about the DN series.
As a “bigger” runner at 85kg I hate the superblast. Dunno if other 80+ kg runners feel the same. But I just sink into it and get nothing back. It’s a slug of a shoe. Boston 12 on the other hand I love. I love that it’s firm and smooth at the same time. It rolls through my stride so easily and smoothly that I don’t even notice that it’s firm. The superblast is a jogging shoe at best for me
Interesting. It makes sense though. LSP is a dense material with considerably more energy return then FFTurbo.
Hey there! I'm currently at 78 kg, my running profile is short distances with some speed in it (I do mostly CrossFit and lifting, running goes squeezed in the middle).
In your opinion, what do you think would be the best fit for me between these two shoes? I'm also considering the SL as a running/workout option.
Honestly…. I’d look at one of the CrossFit or training shoes. They will be adequate for some running and a little sprinting but WAY better for the training. Running shoes are just too unstable. The last gen Adidas SL (not the new SL2) would be ok, though a little unstable for training.
i am a slower heavier runner at 85kg and 170cm tall. i have these two shoes and i torn between these two for my first marathon in september. superblast is so comfortable but b12 give me a faster pace in the same effort but a bit less comfortable. id like to have your opininon, tell me, which of these two will you choose for your marathon race?
btw i love your channel, great work
Assuming both fit well and are the same level of comfort. I’d think of it like this. If you are just looking to complete the marathon go with the Superblast. If you want to go for a specific time go with the Boston 12. You’ll appreciate the better foam and more structured Boston 12 for faster running.
Thank you for the support! 🤙🏻
@@SagasuRunning whoaaaa whoaaa thank you thank you for your response. i also thought the same way, lets see how the training goes, if its going well and i have a certain target finish time, ill use boston 12. otherwise, if i just want to finish my first marathon ever, i will go in superblast. thank you chris.
Have a great race.
I think Nike Vaporfly 3 race shoes also can use Superblast as training shoes.
I struggled with that greatly. Moving from the Superblast to the Vapoprfly 3 made the VF3 feel like a minimal racing flat, which it’s not.
The feel of the SB to a VF like plated shoe is extremely different as well… totally different feel.
@@SagasuRunning In my closet, I classify Superblast & Saucony Tempus as 2 core long miles workhorse trainers (Tempus is much more stiff than Superblast though). On the other side of spectrum,I classify Adios 6 & Puma Deviate Nitro 2 (if has hill workout as the carbon plate in DV2 helps uphill effort) as tempo trainers.
@@heickc Makes sense… I do something similar, but with different shoes.
Have and love both but kinda prefer the boston 12 a little more..Its heavier on paper but feels way lighter and airy for some odd reason which is strange.
Sometimes i kinda wish I saved on the superblast and picked up another Boston which is really cheap on discount.
The Boston 12 is definitely more nimble and that makes it feel faster (to my legs)… though over longer steady runs the Superblast is more efficient, but it’s close given the data I’m looking at from my running.
I like nimble shoes so I do favor the Boston 12…
@@SagasuRunning Yup similar feeling. I think the foam on the superblast is more dense than the b12 which is airy
My rotation right now is the superblast, boston 12 and the ghost max :)
FFTurbo has lower resiliency compared to LSP… which makes the SB feel much different. It works well in the SB though… but the energy return in LSP is MUCH higher.
The Boston 12 + Ghost Max work so well together! 🖤
As much as I love the Boston 12, that heel is a deal breaker for me. I have 8 runs and 90+KM in my B12. And I find at shorter 10/12km efforts the heel issues are manageable. But if I go too much further then that, or inject intensity or elevation changes the heel is a ticking time bomb. But at $95 CAD, I'm willing to sprinkle in runs to get my "money" out of the shoe. After the problems I had with the Boston 12, I bought a discounted pair of Novablast V3 and in only 3 runs and 70km in the shoe....I literally forget they are on my feel....they disappear. Even today where I put in 30+km with MP and HMP sections at the end....you could have told me I had a pair of Tempo Next% on my feet, and I would have believed you. I really want to try the Superblast, but if the Novablast works this well, and I get basically get 2 pairs for 1 Superblast....seems like the Superblast isn't in the cards for me. My Novablast V1 are over 700KM and I haven't felt the need to retire them yet, but they have been relegated to the treadmill....so their time is short. I had previously retired the NB V1 due to stability issues, but after increasing my lower length strength they found a 2nd life.
Great analysis as always.
Oddly, the NB3 is one of the shoes that absolutely destroyed my Achilles with blisters. It was awful.
The SB is much more stable than the NB3… the NB4 is much closer though.
I haven't tried all those 5 super shoes. I wish. But I do have the Alphafly V1 for racing and can concur I love both them and the Superblast. I bought the Superblast on discount but am now so bullish on them that I would easily pay retail price. Best training shoes ever!
The ultimate race shoe pairing for the SB just may be the Alphafly, especially version 2. They work so well together.
Just ordered my 3rd pair of Boston 12's, 2 pairs cost close to 1 pair of Superblast's.
Especially now with the sales you can find on B12s… some great deals out there.
Yes exactly! Almost guaranteed to find a Boston 12 in some colour on sale or with an adidas discount code. At first I only wore them for long runs and tempos. Now during my marathon training I wear them for everything because of how fresh they have kept my legs. Even after a hard long run with substantial marathon pace.
They can definitely do it all, especially if you order a firmer shoe (I do). I would make sure to mix in a no -plated shoe for some easy runs here and there… but otherwise… the B12 is the one you want for marathon training.
Assuming you race in the AP3?
@@SagasuRunningyes I’ve been doing all my racing in the AP3, currently on my third pair because I love them for faster efforts and they are PR machines. Boston 12 is the perfect pairing but I’ve also been testing the new Adidas Supernova for easy days.
@@Powellcon_ Then you are set… the Supernova/B12/AP3 combo is possibly the best one out there at the moment. 🤙🏻
Boston 12 can do anything and everything my superblast can.
It sure can. You can’t go wrong with either of these shoes.
SuperBlast is a soft fast ride, its not firm. one shoe to rule them all. SuperBlast2 has the updated upper which improves fit
The Superblast is definitely a firmer riding shoe, even in the Asics line, due to FFTurbo. The Novablast 4 is a soft ride.
I’ve not seen any rumors or leaks on the Superblast 2. Any source to backup that claim?
various influncers been given leaks, something towards the novablast4 upper. regards to soft/firm, im a stability runner and any neutral shoe is soft to me. makes me laugh a bit when firm is mentioned try trabuco11 or kayano30 for a firm harsh ride@@SagasuRunning
A NB upper on the SB makes no sense and is a huge missed opportunity for the shoe.
Makes sense on your feel now. The SB is on the firmer but cushioned side of things to my feet. I’m a neutral runner who prefers a firmer shoe as well.
