Looks great I’m about to start a similar project so thanks for the help and advice on this video..👍🏻
Nice idea using inserts, that way you can break down for storage as well and not risk breaking frame. It too will help with part removal.
Can wait to see first project.
Great job, was going to build the same today and your the only one I could find who made a full 4x8 one. Excited to see a video of your first pour with it.
Festool makes a way to join tracks together. It cost $54. Well worth it for the accuracy!
That mold looks great, can’t wait to see it in action! Good Job!
I think it looks great can't wait to see what comes out of that mold once it's done okay this is Bob from Vero Beach Florida God bless have a great day and say safe
Thank Bob! We have big plans with this mold! Wait until you see our first table pour in it!
Love the mold. Great job. Do think it would be better to put the sides on top of the base and screw from the bottom. If there is a leak it would easy to repair. Just a thought. Again great mold!!!
Nicely done sir! I’m looking forward to seeing some table tops coming out of there.
Looking forward to see what projects come out of the mold. Nice work.
Thanks Jeff!
That looks great can't wait until you pour the first thank you
Great project, two things to think of one is silicon doesn't stick well to HPDE but as tight of gaps that you have the resign may not seep. The other is you will find that having the sides removable to get your projects out is going to come in very . If you do have seeping issues there is clay compounds that you can put in the cracks that will give you a radius, seal and will not affect you work.
Great advice! Thank you!
I suspect you already know this; the HDPE is a great attachment to any of your saw fences. Very slick stuff and won't damage a blade if you woops.
Thank you! We like working with the HDPE
I bought a .010” thick by 2” wide roll of it with self adhesive tape. It is great for all kinds of friction surfaces.
Festool plunge saw is such a joy to work with!
Yes it’s so nice!
@@TripleLRusticDesigns I notice you miss the connector for the track. The sander combined with the dust extractor is unreal, same goes for the plunge saw. You must get the dust extractor, i know it's expensive in the US compare to Europe but it is so good, turns on and off with the tool, just a joy to work with. Mold looks spiffy
That is a great mold and will be the site of some great epoxy projects in the future. Like the tip of gluing your level onto the drill. Gonna try that myself.
Thank you very much
perfect, thank you! great info i need to make several molds for ashtrays in the near future......
Thank you so much for information.
expensive that size in Georgia . Each $500
Great job for such a large project.
Great work, hope the new table works out for you
Thank you Thomas
I like the threaded inserts. It should make it easier to remove your castings. Well done !!
Thanks Gary!
Awesome you taught me a lot thanks
Nice job. I would not have thought to use the threaded inserts. Good idea.
I would have made a plywood box, and secured the hdpe to the inside of the box.
Ótimo trabalho parabéns 👏👏👏 Brasil
Mold looks awesome 👍 great work 😎
Thank you
Thanks... great job
Nice work
No firewood splittin' Friday? Boo! 😀
excellent video. thanks.
Well from a old worker in a shop in my past ! Looks strong just got to be careful when moving it around !!
Just might need to make yourself a portable bass that would turn !! Around that would hold the load that you’re going to use with all the Apoxsee and whatever wood or pieces you put in here !!
Yes you need support that’s a large frame so you gonna need to make a swivel base that you could permanently put that on something that you will be able to lift back-and-forth that will break the mold free of your material inside !!
Thanks Billy! We will be building a nice stable base for the mold.
That looks great
Just started watching your videos .. very interesting and great work
Thank you so much for this tutorial video. I used your model, but made it a bit beefier. I used 3/4" HDPE (very heavy} and incrementally bigger inserts and screws. I started with a 48" x 96" sheet and cut it down to 36" x 84". That gave me my sides and a few extra pieces to use as dividers to make smaller tables, etc. I plan on using Permatex RTV silicone gasket (like they do at Ahouni Artisans).
What size inserts and bolts did you use for the 3/4” HDPE?
Genius idea!
Turned out Awesome, well done 👍🤩
Thank you Mike
@@TripleLRusticDesigns your very welcome
Beautiful Big Mold….if it’s too big in the future you can cut it down to make smaller ones.. it looks very neat to me.. Thanks Sir for the ideas..
Thank you Bruce. Please check out our next video showing how we will use it for smaller projects.
Can’t wait to see the projects that you will make with this . Might need some help getting the mold out of that 💪😃
Thanks! We will remove the side walls and flatten it then demold it and flip it.
It looks good for all the work it took you to do the mould. I think I would have tried to do what you did
Thanks Tim!
Bribing us with them yoga pants
well done. the only thing different is that I would painter chalk. its cheap and very easy to use, instead of silicone. let it dry for 12-24 hrs and you're good to go
That's a mighty long side wall. You might want to do the same to the top of the side wall, long side, so you can use some wire and turn buckles so that when you pour inside the box that the top won't bow out.
Thank you for the video, it was very informative. I personally am looking into a reusable mold to make floor tiles using my puzzles and memorabilia and need a larger mold. Thank you again. I do have one question about what type of saw blade was used and what type of drill bit ? I’m assuming it was some type of laminate cutting blade. I am no wood worker and probably know enough to be dangerous. LOL but you made it look very simple. Thank you again.
Thanks!
Looks great mate......BUT 5and half hours to complete. I think you had some baby making time and then a few beers in between lol. Again Beautiful job mate. GOD BLESS YOU AND FAMILY 👍👍👍👍👍👍. By the way GREAT Channel...just Subbed
It is quirky that simple jobs use a lot of repetitive simple motions that take a lot of time. But the result, well that was worth it. Well constructed, it should last and give you a lot of pours, enough to justify the cost and perhaps make a nice profit before having to be replaced or extensively repaired.
Thank you James
Mold looks good cant wate to see what you make with it
And i think you made the right choice on Construction as ive tryed plastic welding before and not been to successful good videos
From andy devon uk
Thanks Andy! Plastic welding definitely takes skill
Excellent but a would havve added providiibs for upper criss braces
Awsome ..very slick looking and a clean finish..good job bro..but weres the wife..just kidding ....not realy
Good video I think that way is better than welding especially if you're not sure you can do it correctly 👍🏻
Thank you very much
@@TripleLRusticDesigns you're welcome & enjoy the rest of your night
The mold looks great! It should make it easy to get the table tops out of the mold by unscrewing the screws to release it. Instead of gluing a level to your drill a drill guide would help you make straight holes. I can never get a straight hole by hand.
Thank you! I’ll have to look into the drill guides.
If you have any trouble with the threaded inserts backing out you may need to pull them out and add a dab of epoxy to the threads as a type of lock tight. I would think over time they may loosen up and back out when you go to pull your screws out.
I love the fact while building your project that anything and everything gets knocked over, dented, don't always play out the way you thought that is reality. Do you have a video that shows that same 4 x 8 sheet as your base without keep on buy sheets, but being able to change the side walls to curved, straight, etc.
This looks awesome, great job
curious how it handles when you carry it and if it turns and twists at all (possibly leading to eventually breaking the sides. I like the method you did as well.
I might have added a couple bars on the bottom side that extend out, welded to the underside, so you could have handles to carry the mold or flip it over to get a piece of work out of the mold.
I know its probably impossible to find , and possibly double the cost, but I personally might have tried to get a piece slightly bigger than 8' so I could make something 8' long. Probably not a huge demand for 8' slabs or tables being made like that at all.
On the next video I’ll show you what we have made to make all different size pours in the mold.
@@TripleLRusticDesigns Exactly what I was about to ask!
Awsome
Thanks David
Curious how the silicone worked out for you to seal the sides/corners. What brand/type did you go with? Great work btw!
very nice. Can this get a heart?
what spacing did you use for each screw? What isze inserts and bolts and there length?
Ya'll rock... Zoe, would you guys be interested in a 2nd location in Southern Indiana
If i wanted to go out and build this and already have the HDPE. What other materials do i need, like can you make be a list of thing with how many bolts you have been used and so on :) Great video
So I live on the West side of US, is there another place closer to get the HDPE materials so the shipping won’t cost a crap ton?
Nice work. How are you liking it now that you’ve used it awhile?
What size threaded inserts are you using for the 1/2 HDPE board ? Ty
Like to figure out how to make one that’s adjustable for different sizes
I’m about to start this build and I’m a bit concerned about the saw blade. Which teeth count makes best cut on Hdpe ?
I’m not sure the answer to that. It cuts fine with the Festool TS75 track saw. I don’t know how many teeth though.
Use hot glue instead of silicone to seal gaps. Cheap and will clean up easier
I may try that. I don’t know if it will seal as good as the silicone
@@TripleLRusticDesigns I use it on Melamine and it works fine.
I would of did the same as you did that way after the epoxy sets up you can take apart to get it out. If you would have welded it you would have to flip the whole project upside down to get it out and it would have weighed a ton
Thanks Mark! That’s the plan by doing it this way. Removing the side walls and just popping the project out.
@@TripleLRusticDesigns can you imagine what a slab that size would weigh
Can you post the link to the HDPE sheet you purchased in this video please. I do not see any 0.5in 4x8 under $300
Why did you cut four 3"x 8' sides, you only needed 3 to do the sides?
what about a thin layer of silicone to add to the strength and prevent any leakage of the apoxy?
I will experiment with doing silicone between the side pieces and the base vs just silicone in the corners.
where can i get the epoxy resin you use
Could you tell me where you purchased your inserts? There are so many different ones out there I want to make sure I buy the correct ones lol..thanks
I have added a link to them in the videos description
Is there a way to use shutoff inside for smaller projects. Hope your table is very level
Yes! On the next video, I’ll show you what we have made for smaller projects inside the 4x8 area.
@@TripleLRusticDesigns thx Trey
2 questions for you? 1) how stiff is HDPE and will it take the weight on the long side of will that weight break the mold? 2) can you put a clamp on top of the mold once filled to keep it straight and true? I was wondering if all that weight might cause the mold to deform once filled? Looks like it will be a BIG piece :)
The 8 ft side walls are very sturdy with the amount of screws I used. I can always put a clamp from side to side to hold the wall in if I need to. We will be removing the side walls after each pour to Demold the projects.
It looks good but I'm curious to what your gonna build.
We are going to use this mold for large table epoxy projects
do you guys make L shaped desks i been looking around on ur sites didnt see anything so i figured i would ask
You did just fine! Don’t attempt to weld that shit! We weld 1/8” and 3/16” PVC for exhaust ducting and I hate seeing the joint. We “heat bend” three of the duct sides and weld the open seam. On 1/2” thick you probably would have to do multiple passes and you’d be grumpy!
Thank you! Glad to hear that I made the right choice by not trying to weld it. Appreciate your support!
Maybe weld it instead of steel fasteners
✨🎶
Nice tidy build! HDPE is great to mill and use.
Did I miss the part where you ripped 1” from the width of the base to get the overlap joints on the ends?
Come on all you guys know you aren’t watching the videos for the content
I think I would have sealed the face of it before you screwed it to the base
Thanks. The sides will be removed from the base every time a project is done. So we will reapply silicone to the crack every time.
To look for a CZcams channel that does large pours, try czcams.com/users/BlackForestWoodCompany. They are a Canadian company that makes very large pours up to 4 inches deep. They have their own mix of epoxy that cures slowly, and they have made a cool table to keep the epoxy from heating up too much and cracking. They also use a sliding table type table saw to cut the edges of their panels. With the wedging these people have to do to release the finished epoxy from their mold, you probably will need a mold release agent on your mold to keep from splitting the plastic mold. Good luck on growing your shop.
Thank you very much Michael
Where’s the lady at?
Just wondering, did you use a specific saw blade for plastic cutting? I'm trying to determine what bade I need to use to cut HDPE
No Zoe no watch.
I did the same with Woodglut :)
THEY MAKE BY FAR THE MOST EXPENSIVE WOODWORKING TOOLS . Not interested in watching you.
