10:12 Time to Fight! (Bionis' Shoulder) - Xenoblade Chronicles 3 version
14:41 Cooldown
I was already planning to make a video about how the battle theme from Future Connected "keeps going up".
And I was on the lookout for early leaks of the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 OST, as soundtracks of that caliber don't come often. (Mind you, I've bought the others and intend to continue, if only to show my appreciation!)
Three days ago I came upon the best of both worlds, and I publish this video the day before XC3 releases.
CREDITS
The Xenoblade series has many composers, but I believe Kenji Hiramatsu is reponsible for TtF! (BS).
"You Will Know Our Names... Kazoo'd!" is by Tsuko G., who has retired all of his music, so I could only find a single reupload: / xenoblade-you-will-kno...
#XenobladeChronicles3 #GameMusic - Hry
The most impressive thing is that You Will Know Our Names is still epic even with the kazoo.
Oh no I knew I was forgetting something! The guy deserves credit, I'm adding it to the description.
soundcloud.com/sesijan-arjasis/xenoblade-you-will-know-our
I have already listened to it before, it's very good.
You're welcome ! Glad if I can help, even without trying ah ah !
It really is! I listen to it unironically.
For sure. I was sincere. It's definitely very good.
I think it's the fact that there is still drums in the background that keep it so tense
Lol sounds like Bionis Shoulder became a Mario Kart 8 track
It really does though
And i love it
i was listening to it in the shower and when i came out my brother was like “we’re you listening to mario kart music”
Gimme that custom track NOW
Monado Kart 8
I love how in the beginning he wasn't feeling it but then the saxist was like
Hold on it's about to go hard
Apparently the new version is aptly titled "Brilliant Wings"
Honestly Future Connected's soundtrack had no reason to slap this hard...
The only reason is because it's Xenoblade.
all 2 songs... went so hard
@@romacalor 7 actually
I think the Moebius battle theme is a strong contender now
Oh those vocals sound great! Choir must have had a blast.

Forgot to update my reply, but obviously:

man the fact that this lost out to god of war ragnarok for best music just feels like a horribly robbed moment of triumph....this music actually brought me to tears man.
The xenoblade series is so consistent with these bangers, 9/10 of the battle musics are like absolute golden songs
New version sounds like they told the Saxophonist to just go wild and have fun with it. Future Connected version is awesome and cleaner but damn the new version is triumphant.
My top 10 prior to listening to xenoblade 3 ost
10. You will know our names
9. Driver VS
8. Once we part ways
7. Time to fight- Bionis Shoulder
6. Counterattack
5. Unfinished Business
4. Mor Ardain
3. Fogbeast Battle
2. Battle!! - Torna
1. Mechanical Rhythm.
With a LOT of honorable mentions of course.
The kazoo'd You Will Know Our Names is a masterpiece.
4:13 Always great to see you momentarily possessed by the spirit of the Shopkeeper.
I like to think that the music director told the sax player to just have fun and have fun they did.
BTW, I really love how you visualized the key changes; not just the visual appeal, but the supplimental information and the clear presentation.
Glad this popped into my feed this morning. Loved the breakdowns. The original in Future Connected will always be my favorite but the new rendition just comes soo hard I love it. Making me even more hype for starting up Xenoblade Chronicles 3 tonight.
I love when epic JRPGs find their inspiration from American game shows of the twentieth century
I never liked the expression, "why does it go so hard," it didn't need to", as if the ambition of these games in every area, conceptually, musically, wasn't the thing we specifically liked about them. They do need to go hard, thats why we love them! Thats why we love art. Why suddenly voice it as if mediocrity would have been okay.
To be fair, at that moment I was reeling from the one-two punch of successive sax solos! Which I know were not "needed" because the original is fine with just the one flute solo by that point.
I do agree with your general idea; I prefer music/games/whatever when they take risks, assume themselves, refuse blandness. That said, the new version is so bombastic that it leaves room for the original to shine with its measured buildup - like the way it holds back the "corny choir" for the first two minutes.
It ain’t that deep dude
@@Dr.Farewell yes. It is that deep. It's an art form. What, do you think music just gets mindlessly made? Music theory and expression of area is made for reasons. RPGs have this pushed more then any game style because they don't just carry the tone, but the mood of the story at that moment. Combat music has go make the moment exciting, and using XC3 as an example - They nailed it with things like Chain Attack.
Please. Don't be dismissive of things like this. It's awesome fun to learn and get the vibe of music in games like this. :)
In every context I've ever seen with this quote, "Why does it go so hard?! It didn't need to!" is always nothing but praise for a song. It's like, you would've liked it even if it hadn't but whatever experience you're having is so amazing that you cant really articulate it any other way. It's effectively saying, "it would've been a 10/10 but now it's a 100/10." Time to fight *bs* was my favorite song in future connected and most definitely in my top 5 xenoblade songs. It really wouldn't have taken much to impress me but that sax goes so damn hard that I cant help but love it all the more.
@@Aproximal it’s a compliment, it’s not that deep
I also really like this song! The key change is very tasteful while keeping it groovy~
I'd like to point out the the Key of the song is Gm instead of Dm, the beginning chord is a Gm9 which is why you may hear Bb and Eb in scale chords. But now instead the Ab Major chord IS outside the Gm scale!! It's a Tritone Substitution of D (the 5th) hence an altered 2-5-1 progression. (Very sexy stuff)
Hope this helps you analyse this wonderful song differently and enjoy the music!
Entirely possible! I was happy hitting fake-piano notes that gave me the general idea, but let me bring your comment to the top for the more musical-theory-inclined.
one of my favourite battle themes comes back in 3?!
Damm you just got me double hyped to get to the part where I can hear this in game.
I keep hearing that this track itself is a spoiler, but I don't get it. Is the Bionis Shoulder area back? Is Melia involved? Or anything else from Future Connected? None of these would be spoilers...
My point is, I too am curious about when it'll come up in-game, as I sure have no idea!
@@NicD Melia and Nia are quite clearly the Queens of Keves and Agnus, respectively. This and the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 version of Drifting Soul are their battle themes.
@@hyliastone286 See? I don't even know if that's a spoiler. (And, uh, maybe I don't want to know.)
@@NicD they are their battle themes but not in the way you expect
I’ll never get tired of you memeing the kazoo cover of YWKON
Both are fantastic
Woow! I absolutely love the commentary on the music. I'm subscribing in the hopes of having more content like that in the future!
I loved this musical breakdown! The Xenoblade Chronicles franchise has such amazing music and it's great to see people also appreciating the many different soundtracks from these games!
so melia summoned earth, wind & fire elementals again
nice to see
Loved this great video ! Thanks for this and the good vibes
The xenoblade 3 track reaction made me smile so much
Yo thank you for introducing me to this!! I didn't even notice it in my playthrough, and I'm so glad I know of it now. Much appreciated 😊
It is so nice to see you back on CZcams! You love music, and it is a joy to see someone having a blast, enjoying what they love! ...I don't know this piece of music at all, but I love the fact that it is so danceable! I started to dance the Cha Cha to it! So fun! ...Your reactions were great! I really enjoyed your video! Kudos, Nicolas! Take care, my friend! Love, Susan
Really great video!
A good list all around. I would have Frontier Village and Don't Worry (Flight Theme) on my top 10. Hearing Don't Worry for the first time is such a triumphant moment and I was surprised to hear actual lyrics.
Don't Worry I find hard to rank. I find that:
• by itself, it's a good track, just not top 10 material in the Xenoblade series;
• the first time it plays in context, it's definitely top 10;
• its bad implementation then lets it down badly;
• as years go by, you remember it more fondly.
Now we have XC3 out. I can't wait to see your views on that soundtrack. Subbed for that reason :)
Understood!
Can you listen to this song without busting out dancing?
Absolute bangers 👌
Playing through all the xenoblade chronicles, i have my fair chare of fav tracks out of all three, yet this one alwayd has a special place in my heart and is one of my top 5 easy.
Uraya and Auresco @ Night is probably one of the best songs added to the Xenoverse :o
You sir have impeccable taste l
I really do think they did really well with the futures connected music, and taking a step away from what their usual great themes are, seeing as how it also has the fogbeast battle, which both of these themes I think fit into that category of being their own genres compared to the metal/orchestral that had been built through the game
Theres going hard and then theres bringing out the fucking sledgehammer.
So many songs that should make the top ten list that aren't on there. There are just too many songs in Xenoblade that are too good, so making a top 10 list will inevitably feel like something has been left out. Memories, Satorl Marsh (NIght), Fallen Arm, Tragic Decision, Hope, Tragic Decision, Beyond the Sky, Mechanical Rhythm, Prologue B, Main Theme, and others feel like they are top 10 material. And that's just from the first game. The Prog Ares theme from XCX is the only one from that game I would even consider, but I can't put it above even the ones I listed before. Thinking about it now, even making a top 10 list for Xenoblade sounds like insanity because there are too many amazing ones.
It was insanity! Anything less than a top 50 is a travesty.
The first time I got into battle post game and that time to fight played, I was like wtf is this Mario Kart music? lol
Not to mention the battle always ended in couple seconds so it always stopped at that opening Sax part without moving anywhere. I failed to recognize that it is, indeed the Bionis Shoulder one.
Whereas I recognized TtF BS within seconds due to my... healthy obsession.
Xenoblade is so try-hard with battle music we never hear in full.
Definitely the best song in the series, I love it and it's an amazing 🎷 song
So you admit it.
Not even you can resist _the sax._
1:47 holy shit tsuko's kazoo cover !
Xenoblade music really never dissapoiments.
Choice just 10 songs from Xenoblade is really hard but I'd try
10. Tantal
9. Snow Valak (night)
8. Agnaritha
7. Battle!! Torna
6. You Will Recall Our Names
5. Unfished Battle
4.You Wiil Know Our Names~Finale
3.Engage the Enemy
2. Mechanical Rhythm
1.You Will Know Our Names
Time to Fight! (Bionis' Shoulder) is the best🥰
Xenoblade has my favourite OSTs, so much incredible music
with some data mines, the xeno 3 remix is titled "Brilliant Wings"
Indeed! My wish "hope this gets a better name" was absolutely fulfilled.
#6 is called Roaming the Wastes. Unless you meant the entirety of Mor Ardain's music
Surprised to not see Fog Beast Battle on here. Though it did make me happy to hear it in the video at least
Fogbeasts was the last survivor of my honorable mentions before #1! which I cut for time. So yeah I made sure it could be heard at some point. Feel free to imagine what would have been the other honorable mentions...
Also, official OST says "Mor Ardain - Roaming the Wastes -". Well, as long as we both know what song we're talking about.
Tantal Day, and Auresco Day are amazing too
I'm so sad Tantal didn't make the cut... top 10s are hard.
I heard Four Limbed Titan (Gormott) so I'm happy.
How do you make any song better? Add a sax solo
While I like the sax in the remake version, the lack of the choir backing really makes it feel flatter than the original.
the only thing i think the new version does worse is the “cool” feeling from the original. It takes on a more bombastic approach but that’s reinforced by the brass section and I feel like the choir would thicken things up too much, especially with the other sounds going on in-game
Agree with both of you. The original takes two minute to lay out a cohesive pattern, then brings out the "corny choir" to tease the places it's going next.
Whereas the new version... doesn't have that kind of patience, just throwing everything at you before the breakdown (and finding more to throw after).
@@NicD Yeah. I like me some bombast, but the lead-up is important, too. I don't want entree after entree after entree, start with some soup, salad, and appetizers before the main course!
my favourite song of the series is't even in your top 10 XD. Forgot the name but is the theme when fighting with Nia in XC3 (the theme is originally from XC2).
This top 10 *predates* XC3! However I *am* working on a XC3 top-however-many.
Xenoblade chronicles is 100% bangers, you can’t pick a song that I don’t like
I would like to see what you think of the Mashup that someone did here on YT between Bionis Shoulder from FC and XCDE
"someone"
I think it's very well put together; couldn't have done better myself. I enjoy getting all the saxophone goodness without sacrificing the original's choir and flute, but it's too much of a wall of sound to supercede the separate versions. All three are great!
The new version sounds like Bayonetta and Melia barging into Mario Kart 9
The lack of vinyle for the Special Edition is killing me
i swear they got the mario kart orchestra to do the one for 3
ps: for the entire xenoblade 3 ost they did the impossible and went harder than hard
So, did it get more recognition? I feel like it didn't since it requires playing the game again, kinda.
Also, I think "Brilliant Wings" is pretty fitting, although I am extremely biased towards anything Melia.
I have to agree with you! Feels like this new version is more obscure than the OG, and overshadowed by Kaleidoscopic Core to boot.
And I don't even think I was right about the OG: while researching for my XC3 deep dive, I saw a lot of view counts, and TtF:BS is actually really popular!
At least I do love the Brilliant Wings name too, it retcons the OG's overlong name for me!
You should react to drifting soul from xenoblade 2 and xenoblade 3. BIG difference but it’s amazing
It is a BIG DIFFERENCE. It is amazing that they made this Nia's theme.
Cool merci
I love Time To Fight but I think FogBeast Battle theme is the best track in Future Connected.
Battle!! Torna is probably my favorite song in xenoblade in whole.
I cut the "honorable mentions" part for time, but notice I made sure those two favorites of yours appeared as background music. 😊
Man, Xenoblade soundtracks are so good that my top 10 can look completely different and still agree with this one at the same time
I'd probably agree right back - but ask where TtF:BS and Fogbeasts are, and anyway we have XC3 to include now!
Infinite Sax Works... the song, the movie, the sequel, the game.
Where Can I find this Masterpiece ? Any MP3, youtube link, else ?
At best I found rips of isolated tracks, including this one. As a critique, this video is fair use, but even then I waited until close to the game's release, lest it got striked.
Monster Surprised You
OK honestly Xenoblade 2 has so many good battle tracks I can’t fault your choices but hell yes, Future Connected wins
When I first heard it I was shocked & delighted and didn’t want to fight I just wanted to vibe on the disco that I never expected. I fought every damn thing I could in FC.
I played Torna right after and was thrilled to hear more of the disco-y/funky vibes there, including jazzing up Gormott (though obviously Torna came first)
I can't even count just 10...
**heavy inhaling**
Xenoblade Chronicles 1 - Main Theme (Most Favorite out of every VGM out there - it's like fucking modern classic music - change my mind)
Frontier Village
Valak Mountain Night
Unfinished Battle/Business (call it whatever you want)
Colony 9 Day
Gaur Plains
Mechanical Rhythm (I surrender to this much awesomeness)
Central Factory (Heavily underrated)
You will know our Names
Engage the Enemy (goddamn, who ever invented this needs to get arrested for being to good)
Satorl Marsh Night
Riki the Legendary Heropon (also heavily underrated)
Zanza
Refugee Camp
Mechonis Field
Agniratha Day
**heavy inhaling again**
Uraya Day
Fonsa Myma
Mor Ardain (agree on Top 10 here probably)
Shadow's of the Lowland (Theosoir Day/Night)
Letherian Archipelago Day and Night (this! has so much freakin feels in in it - also heavily underrated)
Artifact Aion
Counterattack
Exploration (second Battle theme - slaps so fucking hard)
Still Move Forward (same)
You will recall our name (the unique monster theme)
Counterattack (holy be-jesus, so fucking epic)
Deathmatch with Torna (I'm from germany and I'm sure someone kidnapped Rammstein for that one)
Fonsett Village (makes me literally cry from peacefulness)
TANTAL DAY (Holy shit that one is sure in my Top 10, the after-bass-drop is soooooo *freakin' awesome* )
Tantal Night (whoever though of a accoustic guitar for a icey theme was.... wierd, but a genius)
*BATTLE!!/TORNA* (On of the upper Top 10 for me - this one came straight out of some jazzy bedroom adventure, I love it)
Auresco
**heavy breathing intisifies**
the Theme for Chain Attacks
The Keves Fighting Theme (holy shit...that one...I can't express...it's like you will know our names had a bady with Battle!!/Torna)
You will know our names - Finale
and of course - Life sent on (Unison)
I didn't finish 3 yet, so.... yeah.
I might have also missed some songs from the first 2 games (and I have yet to play Future Connected so I kept that out for now)
*Listen.* Of course a top 50 is much easier, especially unordered. And yeah, Riki goes in there.
And thank you for reminding me about Shadow of the Lowlands.
And be careful, there's no X in my top 10 but a couple tracks sure belong in a top 50...
In any case, come back soon for my XC3 top, uh, 50 probably. (In video form, for your listening pleasure.)
Bro this song sounds straight out of Lupin the Third or hell, the Mario Kart 8 Soundtrack
to my shame i have to admit i never knew "Time to fight" went on for that long. Its a really nice piece.
I still prefer the original "You will know our names", simply for its insane drive over Time to Fight's more mellow feel
First time that i hear the xc3 version of the battle theme of xc:future connected and the first thing i think was it was compossed by the mario kart 8 team...
Btw, i need to find were its played in xc3 to hear it in game xd
Ahh yes, a fellow original soundtrack enjoyer.
I'm here after n27 of top 100 Xenogears cutscenes. I think Esmeralda is one of the best songs from Xenogears. June Mermaid. It tells a story. Now maybe I should play some Xenoblade?
They just told the sax guy: "Okay, I need you to absolutely MURDER this track. Like, don't even leave a body behind."
great vid! although my personall favorite is counterattack and i think it shouldve been higher. but yeah i really enjoyed
Love your accent man
When does this new version play in the game? I don't remember
I hear it's a post-game battle theme.
ngl mor ardain day is my favourite
I read this here on youtube, the bes comment ever: Melia summons Earth Wind and Fire... literally.
Everyone goes crazy for Mor Ardain, and tightly so, but... Controversial opinion, I'm way more fond of Tantal during night.
Crypt of the xenodancer when
lol
"Time to Fight! (Bionis' Shoulder with real voice shopkeeper)"
I’m 158 hours into 3 and I swear I haven’t heard this version but I must have…where does it play?
post game
Go to Keeves castle in the post game
OK something to look forward to post-game, thanks
Can you react to the remix of Drifting Soul from xenoblade 2 thats in xenoblade 3? It goes hard
Hello , I recommed u listen "Weight fo life" in XB3, it's my favory battle bgm!!
I have been listening to it WAY TOO MUCH in preparation for my imminent top 50 XC3 tracks video! You'll be happy to see it near the top.
wait so are these all songs that come back from older titles?
All of these tracks are before XC3, except for the sax goodness of the last part.
(I had been planning an analysis video for a while and found a XC3 version one week before release, so I jumped on the oopportunity.)
Brilliant Wings is a good remix, but I honestly don't like it as much as the first one. The flute sounds so much better and the first one definitely sounds like a disco song. But with the sax and other changes in Brilliant Wings it sounds like a late night show band that plays during interludes. I think the disco sound is much more unique.
I feel like the sax overtakes the whole track as well, it's definitely harder to hear the other parts as it's playing, whereas the original was just a beautiful blend where each part was pretty distinct.
I have to agree: Brilliant Wings is fantastic, but the original remains stronger.
Oh and did you hear the mashup I made? It's a wall of sound but quite enjoyable.
Don't Worry
Theme X
NLA - Day
Splatoon 3 shopkeeper when
Shhh don't spoil it
Tbh, I dislike Visions of the Future purely because it interrupts all the good songs and you can’t turn it off.
Wait, what about xc1 Main theme?
I could have made a top 50 EASY, and in fact had a joke about it until the last minute, when I realized this was my longest video ever by a good margin.
Ok but what is the intro song
I'd call it "Battle!! - Torna", it would have made the top 20.
Personally I feel like bionis shoulders battle theme and torna's battle theme hit equally as hard as each other, hard to pick which ones better for me.
Just a fun musical coincidence, but when I listen to 11:15 of this video, I can't help but hear the last lap of Mount Wario:
czcams.com/video/R1fZFQrxgdc/video.html
I knew EXACTLY the part you mean, Mount Wario is one of my favorite tracks of the decade, and it's been on my shortlist of next videos since the start (you know, before I deflated in Spring and later made a video worth ten in Fall).
I'm ALMOST mad I watched this whole video because now I won't be surprised when I run across this in-game, but god dammit I couldn't help myself. Holy FUCK was that an INFERNO.
I'm glad I was in the position to make this video with this timing (as I had already planned making one for just the original version).
But now that you mention it - oh wow, what reaction would I have had to just HEAR THIS IN-GAME out of nowhere!
(Well, we wouldn't have my reaction on video.)
Don't worry about it, you probably already know, but you kinda have to go out of your way to be able to hear this lol
didnt like weight of life from chronicles 3?
Oh this was pre-XC3. I'm working on a top-XC3-tracks video.
My top 10 is mostly Xenoblade 1 and 3 lol
Funny enough i only like a few of the choices in your top ten hahaha
I will never know why people like mor ardain so much
They couldn't just do flute again man :P all of xenoblade 3 is flutes lol
Any list that doesn’t have Formidable Enemy from XC3 is shite.
Fighting the good fight there! See, this video came out before XC3, explaining the discrepancy. I would also argue that Moebius Battle is a shoo-in, and probably Aurora Shelf once it's had enough airtime.
Formidable Enemy was close to my top once I addressed XC3. Most of the tracks I put above it are better in the context of the game (often due to flute use) and would thus suffer in a series-wide ranking.
czcams.com/video/kXBtgPivFNY/video.html
However, I have purposefully avoided making a new top 10 now that the series is "finished". Do you dare?
Never played a Xenoblade. But one game I wanted to bring to your attention.
Bullets Per Minute. It is a shoot to the beat / kinda like necrodancers move to the beat of the music. Using metal tracks. And has new game coming out later this year.
metal:hellsinger
Thanks for the recommendation! The rhythm game genre is underrepresented but keeps doing better - I'm supposed to try Soundfall at some point.
@@NicD The Hunt Showdown main theme has a humming style thing that might be of interest to you also hah.
yea the opening phrase on that midi sax part in the xc3 version is just so not it, really kills a lot of the vibe that the original had
Huh, it really *does* sounds like MIDI, in its lifelessness. But then again later on it's certainly real sax! So I'm all confused.
This must be what it feels like to watch a "real voice shopkeeper" video for the first time.
