Here's to Alton Towers never becoming 'rollercoaster heaven'! And remaining the exciting, fun, magical, immersive themed park that we all love. I agree with so much of what John Wardley says. He seems to speak so much sense and is such an imaginative and intelligent person. Maybe he is right about Merlin not having the budget to do their best now (especially in the case of dark rides), but the company very much seems about money and not maintaining/creating wonderfully themed attractions. Hopefully with the new wooden coaster under way at Alton Towers marks a turning point and a brighter future for the industry. 🙂

imagine a park in the uk where some of the most insane thrill rides in the world could be. more than what it currently is i mean. love it as it is still but some massive coasters would be incredible.

@@Deathwish026 I think at the moment Alton Towers has a pretty perfect mix of thrill coasters and family rides. ☺️

What always amazes me every time John Wardley tells the Alton Towers origin story he always tells it from a different perspective. It was good to hear about Battersea and the long lost Schwarzkopf.

I still want my cross valley coaster, maybe use something quiet instead of wood, coz you have an amazing woodie now, like a Mack that could even weave through trees with launches - Imagine ICON at alton towers but with spinning cars maybe and through the valley and connect forbidden valley to dark forest coaster-wise, itd feel like the big one does in terms of length - the theme is the journey. I found myself lucky to be alive recently, so I was thinking of things ti fight for and I remembered this as something I wished I could see one day in some form.

With regards to intellectual properties and Dark Rides; Doctor Who. Very British. Theoretically timeless (50 years this year) and can be applicable to many genres; Horror/Sci Fi/Historical etc...
A Weeping Angles ride could be very efficient since you never see the creature move.

think rita was a bad move. low people output + lots of downtime + 25 second ride makes it not worth it unless queing for the front. imo it should be scapped for something new.
