Don't hate th13teen, it was not designed to be the ultimate thrill machine, it is a family ride that is more focused on your mind than your body. It is a ride for everyone
All these people are saying that 13 is too timid - that sudden drop in the complete darkness is enough to make me terrified of that ride, you are all just too hard core 😂
Kevin Rogerson I feel the same way with most of them too, except perhaps The Smiler. That’s a pretty good length. What coasters do you feel have a good ride duration?
It's mostly due to space and limitations. They can't build above tree line, and can't build in certain areas. So the coasters have to fit in a relatively small blueprint.
aye the mans a true talent to the industry. however who is to say that if john did not work with the towers something even more insane could have been built there. or something not as fun at all. if you catch my meaning
Lol they said Thirteen was the scariest rollercoaster and had to be 15 to ride. Thirteen is a good ride by the way but they just exaggerated. I really wish they made Thirteen longer and add theming like a head chopper
13 is great all you haters out there dont appreciate the fact that alton towers have worked really hard on this ride to make it the best and the worlds first freefall drop rollercoaster i don't know what you expect they have made it so you can still go on it at a young age instead of waiting till like 11 years old to ride a rollercoaster i love 13 and i like the idea of it being THE WORLDS FIRST freefall drop on a rollercoaster thankyou alton towers -3
@xtremespeed128 It goes backwards into a non banking diagonal drop, then it goes around a helix that climbs up. To add the sense of no control the helix's banking changes consistently. it keeps changing between a 55 degree banking to a 20 degree banking. So it would be like 55, 30, 40, 20, 35, 50, 20 etc. Hope this helps.
Can you confirm what you mean by “non banking diagonal drop” please? I assume this means a drop in reverse to the left or right without a tilt to the carriage? Thanks.
@@ParamountFitnessTV You realise you commented on a comment that is 12 years old right? Anyway, basically the track just turns right and downwards without banking, before going into a larger upwards helix until it is out of the tunnel
No! He is still a very great designer. you do know the park has a budget, they can't just make any roller coaster they want, PLUS the space too, he could design the best roller coaster in the world if the park had the space and money:P
Hello Ride Guide Group, we make educational videos showing how certain coasters/elements work on rides. May we have your permission to use parts of this video for an upcoming video with proper and visible credit to you? If we may or may not, please let us know soon at your earliest convenience. Thank you, Coaster Labs
imagine the accidents that could happen with that drop mechanism... what if the track didnt come back up then the train would go into the crypt and fall :3
I said "personally" i didnt mean it as a fact, its just an opinion, I know they have a limit blahblahblah, but his designs never used to incorporate trims but now they all do lol, I do think he done a good design for Saw though, but I still think you cant beat Stengel
like half of that was not music it was talking so like some of yaz might like this but nxt time i am tiping the song i wanna watch instead of lodes of videos that arnt wat they say they r
thirteen wasnt as good as john wardley's other projects to be honest, its very overrated all it has is simply.... some trees, some basic drops, and a piece of track that just so happens to seperate itself from another piece of track only to attach itself to another piece of track. Thats pretty much Thirteen in a nutshell.
Don't hate th13teen, it was not designed to be the ultimate thrill machine, it is a family ride that is more focused on your mind than your body. It is a ride for everyone
Shadowmaster 400 It shouldn't have been marketed as the 'Ultimate roller coaster' then
Brendan Jackson it's designed for older kids who are 2 old for CBeebies but not ready for nemesis or oblivion
Brendan Jackson If it's supposed to be a family ride, why does it have a drop section?
Teagan Alexander it’s only a baby drop :)
Ridgedog231 it’s 5-6 metres I think
All these people are saying that 13 is too timid - that sudden drop in the complete darkness is enough to make me terrified of that ride, you are all just too hard core 😂
I presume that the smiler is a no go from hell to you yeah?
Lol it doesn't even fall at 1g so you just feel lighter... kinda shit unlike oblivion.
Joseph Butler lmao I’m terrified of this ride yet love smiler 🤷♀️ Im going on this next week, definitely overthinking it
Love this ride its great would ride it all day haha dont care what anyone else says each to their own. its a ride at the end of the day
As much as i love Alton Towers and think they have some of the best rollercoasters in the UK, all the coasters seem very short in my opinion.
Kevin Rogerson I feel the same way with most of them too, except perhaps The Smiler. That’s a pretty good length. What coasters do you feel have a good ride duration?
Some are the main reason why it’s short cuz it was a worlds first and they wanted to show the world what was possible
It's mostly due to space and limitations. They can't build above tree line, and can't build in certain areas. So the coasters have to fit in a relatively small blueprint.
i like Th13teen but i wish it had a bit more track, maybe a helix that goes through the middle of a fake tree or a few more close to the ground turns.
Noice
Definitely the curse of uk rides. Ours are always so short!
That would be cool
John wardley is absolutely amazing. If it wasn't for him nemesis wouldn't exist!
aye the mans a true talent to the industry. however who is to say that if john did not work with the towers something even more insane could have been built there. or something not as fun at all. if you catch my meaning
I would love to meet this man.
he's up there with jigsaw and jasper carrot, lol
John Kramer twin 💀
Everyone remember renaming their guests John Wardley?
Would be great to get a lights on view of the train entering and dropping
You're in luck. This has (almost) the full raise and drop sequence.

James!
This is an amazing video- thanks for the upload!
Wow is he named after the RCT3 cheat? Amazing that he actually went into the theme park business after being killed multiple times on my rides!
When will anyone produce a lights-on or effective night-vision POV? I'm primarily interested in the indoor track layout after the drop.
I think it is just a helix
Who else is watching this as there in the queue
John Wardley: Name a guest like this in rollercoaster tycoon :)
Becky Timmis I love 13 I really want to go on it but is too far
Takes away some of the thrill knowing things like this.

OK JAMES
Awesome ride system !
No!

Look at that guy trying to take a pic with his Nokia.. wow lmao
It's 2010...

Thanks for the vid!
You lucky person i really want to see him I want to ride oblivion with him that would be awsome
So that’s who James is.
The Cinematic Mind the guy who designed and created the roller coasters at AT he's basically a genius
Gobble 1234 Yes John Wardley is a genius. He designed the rides.
100th comment and this rides amazing
He pretty much created Alton towers
thumbs up if you got John Wardley fron RCT3
I love.13
Pedo
@iMagicBananas Slow down guv', no need to think of that. He's still in his prime :P
Ok James!
did he show the mechanism actually working? - if so do you have a video of it?
Could the stroke down if you don't careful?
What do you mean?
@TomasVergaraTV well still i cant belive u didnt know even Americans should know him britains awsome
i wanna know who this James is.
Good job John , but i have a feeling that not everyone has a clue what he is talking about
did u get 2 see it workin then from the perspective your at now?
@SuperLyria Um yes of course i have :) ive been on oblivion, air the lot
imagine the accidents that could happen with that drop mechanism... what if the track didnt come back up then the train would go into the crypt and fall :3
Notionoix115 the ride would detect this and the train would be stopped before entering the crypt
Yeah he talks about the safety system and how it only allows a train in when it is absolutely safe to do so
@Dumblol1 As soon as I can find a lights-on video that shows that, I'll be satisifed. Perhaps something similar to the TPR video of the Mummy ride.
0:30 is there any point of taking a picture on that thing...
Ride Guide Group Even ten years ago damn...
Uhhh quick question how did u get down there
It was a special fans night.
What's in the other room
It's the backrooms...

@LukeNAESA10 Yeah, but he still contributed.
@TomasVergaraTV what on RCT3 he is but he is a real person i cant belive you didnt know that plus are u from britain
Shame they did'nt demonstrate it working. I suppose it's for health and safety though :-/
i wonder what will happen to alton towers when John dies. x_x
@megatrain16 it felt like 10 feet...
@JAMMYD777 where?
is it me or does john wardly look like jigsaw? :O
@trains111ful it's 56ft hard to beleive but it's true
Just for the extra speed and height :P
I look 15.
😂 ok
Whatever, opinions differ:)
Trolled.
@ChimairaFan12 Lol x)
@TomasVergaraTV The cheat was made because of him.
15 feet my ass more like 40
Why is everyone saying its john wardley, its clearly james!
i been on that ride not scary
Thats because it's a family ride. Plus roller coasters aren't scary. They're fun
@hayes903 That's so pathetic...
*the
like half of that was not music it was talking so like some of yaz might like this but nxt time i am tiping the song i wanna watch instead of lodes of videos that arnt wat they say they r
What? This is about a rollercoaster 😂
Technically it is clever, but as a thrill ride it is shit

TheStrober It has 2 pieces of track that separate themselves; the other one Is just after the backwards section.
Personally I think hes lost his touch
