    Check out my Music Man Majesty VS Sterling Majesty Review HERE • Music Man Majesty VS S...
    I played John Petrucci's LOST Purple Nebula Guitar, here's an awesome demo: • I played John Petrucci...
    Ever faced tuning issues with your Music Man Majesty? You're not alone. I struggled with tuning for a little bit until I learned these 3 "tuning secrets".
    In this video, I'm going to show you how to easily fix tuning issues with the Music Man Majesty and floating bridge guitars in general.
    It really irritates me that people don't learn how to tune these guitars properly, go for a whammy dive, make the errant conclusion that the guitar "has tuning issues", and then return the guitar. You need to get educated!
    Trust me, once you get your Music Man Majesty set up, it will be a dream to play!
    Here's some of what you'll learn in this video:
    - Why I always tune from a FLAT note to an in tune note
    - My unique "string pulling" technique, a must-know for every guitarist
    - The importance of a proper setup, especially for the John Petrucci Majesty signature guitar
    - Tips, tools, and the magic of guitar tuners like Tune-It and Big Bend's Nut Sauce
    - The ideal tuning order for strings
    - The "double tuning" secret, a gem for those with electric guitars having floating bridges
    This guitar demo will go a long way in helping you easily fix guitar tuning issues!
    And remember - if you find value in my videos, don't forget to subscribe to my channel and share this video :-)

    Great video! One thing to note, many if not all Music Man guitars have a compensated nut. This helps to further keep the guitar in tune up and down the fret board, especially at the octave.
    If you have a non-compensated nut on a Fender or other guitar, you can purchase a compensated nut through Earvana. I've noticed significant tuning improvements when doing so.

    Hi Matt, fancy seeing you here! Not sure if you remember me, but we chatted for a bit at the last Petrucci camp. Excellent video! I was running into these exact issues on this exact guitar, and your video was front and center on their results, so I'm happy to hear the algorithm is working in your favor :) Hope all is well!

    10s to 9s is I think more valid for standard tuning. I'm running my EBMM Sabre at Eb and 9s don't really work for a few different reasons, but ONE of those reasons is I have to completely change my right hand technique. With 9s, even a moderately aggressive picking hand can cause the lower strings to go sharp. So I end up having to "brush" the lower strings instead of "picking" them. Which I don't enjoy.

      Yup alternate tunings will def affect string gauge.

    Fresh string stretch, does wonders. Look it up guys, and always do it on fresh strings. Otherwise, you'll be tuning your strings all the time and trying to identify the cause of the tuning issue.

    • @mattwright466
      @mattwright466  Před 11 měsíci

      That helps too. Depends on the string brand.. So I've heard. I still stretch regardless.

      @@mattwright466 It's just metal properties bro. Physics. So brand doesn't matter. I also lubricate the nut with lemon oil from time to time, also helpful if you're a trem user.

    • @mattwright466
      @mattwright466  Před 11 měsíci

      Why lemon oil? Won't that mess with some finishes?

    • @jiasdfadfdeygshjklsIlgs
      @jiasdfadfdeygshjklsIlgs Před 11 měsíci

      @@mattwright466 no-no, it won't mess with anything, don't worry. You can also use string conditioner for that. You don't even need to take the strings off, just gently apply some on the nut so that it leaks inside the cavities where strings rest, and clean off the excess. This way you decrease the friction force between the nut and the strings so that the former lets the latter slide freely. But mind you, none of that works without the fresh string stretch I mentioned earlier, it's a must for guitarists, I hope you already looked it up on youtube on how to do it.

    • @jiasdfadfdeygshjklsIlgs
      @jiasdfadfdeygshjklsIlgs Před 11 měsíci

      @@mattwright466 also one IMPORTANT NOTE on the fresh string stretch: don't forget to press the string against the 1st fret when pulling it outwards, otherwise your first two strings may cut themselves against the string post during the procedure. I also own a Majesty and broke several new strings like that before I figured it out: string posts have sharp edges around the string holes, and you don't want to rub your string against it.

    double locking nuts dont get hung up in the nut.. block it with a trem stopper for downward dives only.. it NEVER goes out of tune .. best guitars i own for tuning is the dreaded Floyd Rose.. i can pick one up after weeks of not playing it and only small adjustments on fine tuners IF THAT.. i cant understand what the modern trem is thinking about?.. ughh.. should not have to tune all the time.. is the EBMM axis and Morse model the ONLY ones with locking trems?? great necks on these guitars.. but trem needs to be addressed..

    • @mattwright466
      @mattwright466  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I agree, however, this trem gives different characteristics, and 2) you can get a JP16, which has a locking trem if you want.
      I actually recommend either of those guitars over the Majesty now because of the lack of right arm reference area/support on the Majesty.

    Bro Your in Scottsdale!!!!! That's Awesome...
    I live in West Phoenix but work and I'm from Scottsdale...I obviously have a Majesty. 7 string Wysteria Blossom Purple.
    Any tips on how?
    I can get a full pull on the way me bar without deadening the strings. I don't want to raise the action.
    But I need full fluid movement of my tremelon

    • @mattwright466
      @mattwright466  Před 7 měsíci

      When I talked with Scott LePage / Tim Henson at Petrucci camp, they said that they have to play with higher action in order for the harmonics to speak well. So, if you're having THAT much trouble, you're probably too low.
      Raise a little at a time... Play for a few days, raise a little more, repeat.

    got several guitars with floyd rose and gotoh, and its like you say starting the video.....almost a 4k dlls guitar and that sh*t cant stay in tune, already checked the nut, already got back to the original strings gauge, already test with more and less springs in the bridge, and my floyd rose and gotoh guitars and totally playable with no issues, but this EBMM cutlass is a nightmare....even an old sterling by MM stays in tune better than the EBMM.....its just ridiculous

    • @mattwright466
      @mattwright466  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It sounds like you missed the point of the video because I'm talking about fixing these issues. I give numerous solutions. Lubrication. Changing down string gauge. You can't just "check" the gauge. If you want to play 10's on "10 nut", you might need to file out a bit. Also, try the "whammy up" trick.
      I've been to Petrucci camp. He uses these guitars, the most expensive in the line up, for 20 minute long songs. Petrucci does not own some kind of specially modified Majesty. He has custom builds, but only for color and woods. Not parts.
      Hope this helps. 🤙

      @@mattwright466 sorry if I sounded like a hater or so, I'm just frustrated because I already did all the steps you suggest, that's why my comment about never having the same issue with gotoh or FR, and yeah. the whammy bar trick kind of works, but then it'd mean I have to use the bar every time after bending a string, and realistically its not possible in all the songs, and the issue its not with 2 cents of tone, the difference is an entire half.....anyway its not like you'll find always the fix in a youtube video, I'm already aware of it 🙂
