- Skyrim is certainly a game filled with adventure and turmoil in every direction, however not every waking moment the Dragonborn spends in The Elder Scrolls 5 must be ridden with tension. Indeed, one major mechanic and system offered by Skyrim, is the ability to marry a wife or husband. Literal dozens of different potential spouses exist across the lands of Skyrim and Solsthiem and each of them is excited to settle down a start a family with the player. But with such an expansive number of options, how could anyone on Nirn possibly choose from all these husbands and wives? Well, today we’re going to help you answer that question as we take a look at five more of the greatest wives and husbands in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
- Hry
If only Serana, if only...
Mods: Allow us to introduce ourselves...
@Little Shmuplet The fact that it isn’t an option when she’s the character the Dragonborn build the closest relationship with, by far, is one of the biggest non-money related “Fuck You” moments in Bethesda history.
I feel we are very close to her by the end if you talked to her the right way. Plus shes not the spouse type.
Honestly wish she was... how are you gonna make it specifically so it’s impossible to marry her like they physically gave her dialogue just to reject you fuck that shit Bethesda
I honestly don't understand why so many people like Serana that way, I mean she's cool but I don't understand
I liked aela enough to marry her in my first playthrough, until she started shouting Skyrim is for the nords on our adventures not even 5 feet from her spouse: the argonian
Loooooll
Well, that's fot having a 5 inch dongo when you bedded her.
lol
This was the best comment I've read all year lol!!!!!
Big oof
THE GREATEST WIFE IS THE LUSTY ARGONIAN MAID… even if she’s a fictional character in a fictional world. I am so lonely.
She's fictional twice over, unless you BECOME Lifts-Her-Tail.
Sean Jenkins Is there a mod where I can marry myself?
Some mods let you interact with other characters you made so probably
roy kennedy So, really, in theory, I could make a character named Lifts-Her-Tail and then start another game and then marry the Lusty Argonian Maid character?? I’m putting way too much thought into this now lmao
@@LuciusVorenusOfficial That's the idea yes

the hagraven you got married to in sanguine's quest
The only thing that bothered me about marrying Aela is the radiant Dawnstar quest where Vampires kidnap your spouse. When I was told she was kidnapped I wanted to yell, "You're shitting me! She literally can turn into a 7' tall werewolf who could rip a vampire's head off and piss down it's neck. Did they use a f**king mammoth tranquilizer to subdue her?"
They used one of the patented, "target is paralyzed for 9734608 seconds" poisons.
True lol
Admit it Nate....we all know you want Faendal the most

@@stevenhiggins3055 just because it was their first time doesn’t mean it had to be this shit. Half the marriage options weren’t developed at all and were drunk assholes lol
@@alyjahandujar1402 bet its worse than skyrim, just long tedious chains of radiant quests that loop around to dialog trees then betrothal quest and finally regardless of outcome you get cucked by M'aiq the Liar
Well…Hearthfire was an add on, so it kind of was.
"J'zargo is the best spouse this one could find, but J'zargo is too busy becoming the finest mage in skyrim to court with this one, but maybe slip that amulet in J'zargo's pocket?"
I'm mad I can't marry every single Thieves' Guild member especially Brynjolf, Rune, Thrynn, & Sapphire. I have the softest spot for loveable rogues with tragic/mysterious pasts.
@MsRedLady Bless aft. Thrynn needs more love
Yeah, it would be nice to give Sapphire a healthy relationship after what she went through.
I mean, if they did that how could I choose to marry just one?
I wanted to marry the argonian from the dark brotherhood 😔
I just want someone to steal stuff with me and then live in a house full of stolen goods presented as trophies XD
Last time I was this early, Nazeem actually went to the cloud district
Wait! Nazeem's been to the Cloud District? When did that happen?
@siphosihle madondo I saw a frost atronach send someone to the cloud district once. It was the best summon ever.
Impossible.....
When I dragged his head up the stairs his head did
Aela actually confirms in dialogue that the rumors of her and Skjor being in a relationship aren't true. The real reason she and Skjor are always sneaking off with each other is because they go hunting in werewolf form (but would be attacked if townsfolk realized they were werewolves), but other members of the Companions (that aren't aware of the Circle members being werewolves) assume they're sneaking off to get intimate. Which makes it clear as to why they can't really explain why they sneak off to put the rumors to rest...
I heard her dialogue but I misunderstood that as her an Skjor having an affair. Also I saw them sneaking off alone in Jorvaskrr (I hope I spelled that right). So they get a side eye from me cuz I’m not convinced they’re not sleeping together.
@@AmyHoldaway27 There's another line of radiant dialogue between her and Skjor that you may hear when they're close to each other about going out to "hunt" which is what clues in to them just being platonic. They're the two that are really into being werewolves and take all the chances they can to use the beast blood powers so that combined with the denials of them being intimate since its not forbidden makes me pretty certain they're just friends. Plus, if they were romantically involved, I think it'd be pretty weird that she'd be ready to marry someone so soon after his death once your character finishes the quest line
"Look at those cheek bones"
Oh no. He knows my weakness.
Small detail mistake: Revyn sends up to put the ring back in Viola Gigornio's house, not Tova's.

@@derekmorgan3074 lol that's so hilariously I was looking for this comment thank you for making my day a whole lot better.
Many winters have passed since the defeat of Alduin. A now grey and bearded Dragonborn makes his final journey...Soverngard. He can hear the great mead hall from where he stands, alive with laughter and song from his old shield-bretheren. He smiles and starts across the Whalebone Bridge, but when he reaches it's peak, his smile fades. He looks behind him, a single tear crossing his cheek, for the one he truly loves will not, cannot, pass this way.
The Dragonborn raises his mug high into the air, tears now filling his eyes and lets out a howl just like he always does, when wishing Aela a fruitful hunt.
damn bro you brought reality down on us. You could've said anything but you chose to speak facts.
At one point you were able to marry Elisif and Ingun Black-Briar but it was taken out. Oh and It's Viola's ring not Tova's.
I'm still mad about Ingun. No reason you can't. Maven would just LOVE IT if her daughter married the DRAGONBORN OF ALL PEOPLE. Also mad that you can't proposition Maven to let Ingun in the Dark Brotherhood. She's be perfect, and it'd be a great post-main-quest secret quest people could find.

Spaghetti has this trouble as well. This one wonders whether they should just settle for a werewolf or something.
Aela herself denied having that kind of relationship with Skjor, and I’m inclined to believe her. Since such relationships aren’t forbidden, she’d have no reason to lie.

When you marry her, Aela keeps callling you brother/Sister. This is kinda fun and wheird at the same time.
"what are you doing step werewolf bro?"
Are those banjos I hear in the distance? 😆 Oy.
shahvee best wife, she's doing her best to turn her life around despite her past and her struggles. getting her out of windhelm and into a fancy palatial estate in solitude feels good man.

"Aela rarely goes down" So, the most realistic marriage partner on the list?
I want to laugh, but then I wilt, looking at Teldryn Sero. He's even more competent a fighter than any of the Companions and I've never seen him "go down" once, so in this context; alas. 😆 (I know he's not marriageable without the use of mods, but damn, I want him to be, even with the perpetually hidden face.)
I always married Brelnyna Maryon I didn't even realize she was associated with that house until now. I just married her because she was a good mage follower and honestly felt a lot nicer than most of the other spouses in the game. Plus I related a lot to her because I'm an introvert.

Best "out in the open" treasures. Like the one piece of the atherium shard or the one powerful early game sword you can get if you go to a certain pass before Hearcine tells you to.
I just got that aetherium shard today and it always bothers me that it's just been sitting there in the open for THOUSANDS OF YEARS.
Ryan Kunst I will give it some credit because it’s supposed to be an incredibly isolated area, and in a country that is much larger than we get the feeling for in the game. Still though, seems like it wouldn’t have been there after all that time.
Dylan Yarbray it's not even in any sort of container, just sitting on a pedestal outside. How, in thousands of years, has it not been knocked down by a strong gust of wind, or a heavy rain, or just a curious animal. Forget anyone finding it there in that time, it should be buried in the mud halfway down the mountain by now.
Ryan Kunst could be that it’s a lot heavier than we think it is. Also, I think it’s socketed in there or something.
@@dylannecros3636 Yeah, Tamriel is extremely large. If Daggerfall is to be believed.

Me trying to build a home for my wife and kids after I save the world for the third time: : (
I remember asking Aela about how she feels about kids. I think she said she doesn't have a lot of experience but is ok with it
Since she is a werewolf, would both of you have beautiful puppies?
@ xDog....well, technically you can't have your own children in the game, you can only adopt them once you have the Hearthfire DLC. Aela was always annoyed with my about our children I adopted because I always built a home at the Lakeview Manor area and she would occasionally ask me what was I thinking about living in such an area with the children since the home could frequently be attacked by a giant or skeevers depending on what add-on or features you built for your house.
@@bloodwolfgaming9269 Tell her to quit her b1tching. Lakeview is awesome! The one in Morthal swamps, now that is a monster infested swamp! I once got attacked by a dragon when I exited my house there!
With fur coming out of their ears
@@bloodwolfgaming9269 Aela will basically always be concerned about your adopted kids with her... unless you move to Solitude. Then she feels it's secure enough for their safety. So, a rather good adopted mother, putting the kids safety above any personal desires.
First NPC I married was Marcurio the mage from Riften. You just pay him 500 gold to be your follower and he's ready to marry you immediately. He's also insanely powerful. He's taken down enemies I struggled heavily with, and because I'm part of the thieves' guild, he basically also doubles as a partner in crime. By far, the best spouses are also followers. Being a battle couple is fantastic, even if I had to buy his cooperation.
“I am the Dragonborn child of akatosh, slayer of alduin, arch mage of Skyrim, listener of the dark brotherhood, guild master of the thieves guild, harbinger of the companions, general of the army, thane of all Skyrim holds, and champion of several daedric princes” is how I imagine the introduction to breylynas family would go
I don't know why but I'd imagine them judging you on race alone because Dark Elves, like if you had all those feats but were say, a khajiit they'd go "But you're a cat" or "Cool story N'wah" lol
Skjor and Aela's relationship is more of their shared pride being a werewolf than anything romantic. They were the only ones out of the members of The Circle that enjoy being a werewolf rather than think of it as a curse.
Jordis the Sword-Maiden has always been my favorite wife and follower.
The only spouse i want is Veezara, but we all know what happened to him
good thing there's a mod for that!
Why are there no Khajiits you can marry? Khajiit gets so lonely with nothing but his internet back in Elswyer 😿
Your name makes this so much better
I also find Sylgja quite an interesting (and not so popular) choice and hope, that she will appear in the next part of these series
You can also get into House Telvanni through a quest in the Dragonborn Dlc for Neloth, which is called "old friends".
I'm still mad you can't marry Brynjolf or Falk Firebeard
Falk is in a relationship already, so I'm not surprised about him but damn am i mad about Brynjolf. Just let me marry the scottish thief man Todd!
I'm more mad about Brynjolf, like, after you complete the main quest line he won't even talk to you ;-----;
@@sepiatonedlobotomite It's tedious to do so without mods but you can talk to him again if you become Guildmaster to ask about the state of the guild. Still mad I can't marry him tho. Prime marriage material left ignored smh

( . _ .)
If you marry Sylgja (who lives in Shor's Stone), Verner and Annekke, her parents, will become your in-laws, so your kids can finally have some grandparents. IDK, I just think that's kinda cute.
(Sadly but not surprisingly, Verner and Annekke don't have any dialogue mentioning this and they won't actually interact with your kids - despite Annekke even being available as a follower!)
I remembered doing Brelnyna Maryon side quest and thinking"whatever, I was able to help. Idk what that's good for besides more side quests done" I love side quests as well as the main storyline
But now I know why and learned something
Brelyna is my personal favorite. Her skill with magic makes her incredibly useful in combat.
I married Borghak the Steel-Heart. Nearly of age but dreading her arranged marriage, she yearns for adventure but doesn't want to let down her tribe as she is the chief's daughter. She enjoys challenge, bristles when things are too easy, and her rippling green muscles help keep you and your house safe.
8:30 after some Neloth quests he makes you part of the Telvani house anyway.

i tell you, i tell you, the dragonborn comes...and goes...and comes back...im sick of that guy! 😂
I have been enjoying your spouse series. You have cover spouses I didn't realize a person could marry.
What I like most about this series is learning about NPC's I generally avoided, intentionally or not.
Also realizing I have a pretty strong bias to talking to mostly women in my play-throughs. A recurring theme throughout this series is me saying, "Oh he's marriageable? Huh." or, "Wait, he has a quest to do?".
I enjoy the effort put into adding context to these character's who are often not in the general spot-light.
there's a bug that causes aela to say, "something has shifted in the moons sister/brother" whenever you go near her.
Happened to me in my main game it's so annoying also I became a werewolf and then a vampire lord so I became a werewolf again but accidentally became a vampire lord so I couldn't become a werewolf again
My character never marries. Serana is the only company she desires.
@@bravosixgoingdark4909 is that actually a thing? I thought you could switch that around as often as you like?
tbh I never switched more than once since you lose all your perks and you can't repeat the civil war questline to powerlevel it a 2nd time (the only reason I ever did that, siding with the stormcloaks since imperial armours are worth selling... a bit; I'm in the fuck both their factions faction)

Still no Sylgja? Busty wife is best wife. She certainly brings the "boulders" to Shore Stone..
mattbatesteacher yeah i usually go for her in my playthroughs just because it gives me incentive to raise my pick pocket skill so i can take away her pickaxe from always being on her lol
Yeah, that too. And the way she calls you "love"? Perfection. Nate, get on it!
Sylgia is my vote as well. Married her on two play throughs. Felt bad about her mine injury, white knighted her.
I usually go for her myself. She's a sweetheart
Yeah, she is great. And I think her mom is a potential follower too, right? I can't help but find that hilarious. Going out on adventures with your wife's mom while she stays home with the kids.
Ayy, love the vids keep them coming
You got both of my favorite wives (Brelyna and Hilund) in this one, so I'm happy.
I almost always have Aela as my spouse... not only with everything else you already said... after the dawnguard dlc you can use Serana and Aela to bounce back and forth between vampire and werewolf... keeping both close just makes it that much easier.
"--but that didn't stop my Aunt Jessica, and it's not going to stop me."
Once I stopped laughing, I had to give it a like for that.
I'm so happy to finally see Aela The Huntress on here! She was my first choice for multiple reasons. But mainly because I was an archer, and I had a little system where I would trade (take all of her money) with her, and then spend my gold to have her teach me archery.
You can do that with Faendal, too, very early in the game. Don't need to marry him, either.
Bro ur the best you tuber out there keep out the brilliant work from paisley Scotland
Nate, if you want to do more of these I'd highly recommend the Amorous Adventures mod. It mods a bunch of quests and dialog to let you romance/seduce, I think like 30 NPCs including Serana and Elisiff and makes the Bard's college a lot more fun. Turns out it's actually more of a Venetian style courtesan school. Only major bug I've noticed is when you get to solitude for the first time SPRINT to the blue palace asap so the wolf skull cave quest doesn't run into a scripting bug.
I'm glad Sadri made the list. I always had a sweet spot for him. 😊
Nate has the greatest Skyrim content
From part 1 i wanted Aela to be on this, the joy when she finally appeared
I'm very glad you put Brelyna on this list.
For Aela's relationship with Skjor, it is confirmed in game that they were not romantically involved, but like-minded in their hate of the Silver Hand. While Kodlak Whitemane counselled the members of the Companions (specifically the Circle) to give the SIlver Hand a wide berth and only fight when confronted, Aela and Skjor were escalating the conflict by repeatedly attacking Silver Hand encampments and strongholds.
This is the only channel I watch religiously
