I love TIC-80! Unfortunately it didn’t (and doesn’t) get as much love as it deserves, considering the quality of the free version. That being said, I’m hoping (even confident?) Picotron is going to have a lot of community content devoted to tutorials, instructive carts, etc, once it becomes relatively stable. And maybe we’ll eventually get a community/educational version that’s accessible for free?
What is a topdown game to you? This is a topdown shmup. I also have a roguelike tutorial - that is topdown too. Topdown just refers to the camera perspective. It says little about the gameplay
