      @@piriyaj1347 they are so abundant even today. People in Africa where the majority of the mining of diamonds are at don't care about gemstones because it's just another rock to them. Also the reason why they jack up in the prices for diamonds is because they slowly release them out of their gaint warehouses so they don't flood the market with them. That's how they make them "rare" and "valuable"
      Also if you ever travel to Africa and find a diamond and try to take it back home, you'll be arrested for taking property, because a certain company has a monopoly of the whole diamond industry in Africa. It's all blood diamonds anyways.

      Dry cleaning with a needle gets the bulk of the build-up out of the setting without having to apply repeated mechanical forces by scrubbing which can damage soft or worn settings. Plus, you need to use an interstitial toothbrush to get into every crevice, and they're not very durable. And you have to chemically sterilise it after every use. Not so with a needle.
      A stainless steel needle in contrast, can clean every crevice without disturbing the setting. It's cheap, durable, and easily cleaned and sterilised by passing it through a bench torch in a minute until it glows red. Jewellers have lots of different brushes for different applications, and they do use them on larger pieces. Not for diamond stud earrings. She's a professional who knows what she's doing. Customers who have the best quality pieces can afford the best finishing. People don't understand that the people who send their earrings to her are paying for her expertise and training. She won't damage the pieces, and will leave them completely clean and sterile. So, you could send her say, an diamond pavé set piece, with sweat, body fat, and personal care product residue, and she would get all the dirt and grime out from under the stones and the setting would be unharmed. That's because of her skill.

      @@BigHenFor well said. I speak from a point of no experience with such things. As this expertise has use I appreciate it. Jewelry is a luxury however and for that reason I found it to be fair game for criticism albeit an ignorant one.

      @BigHenFor Před 2 lety +20

      @@thisguy4614 We're all a bit wary and a bit cynical because we've been disappointed, and there are people who rip their customers off. But this lady was trained to use that needle because she wasn't just digging it in. She was precisely removing that debris without damaging the setting or the stone. Stainless steel pins can scratch the metal, which means it would have to be polished out. Also, the more she removed the less time it would have to spend in the ultrasonic cleaner, preventing pitting on the metal. She was doing everything right to protect the earrings as she was cleaning them. That's how I knew she was a trained jeweller. Earrings aren't always as durable as rings and the size means they are finicky. I think with the amount of build-up in those earrings even the customer is wary of handling them, and prefers just to wear them all the time. Lol

    I don't have diamond earrings, but I do have gold hoops (18 or 24k idk). I don't take them out ever (except like once every few months to wipe them down with alcohol and clear out a little bit of gunk). I can't take them out for longer periods because the piercing will start to close immediately. I have eczema on my ears (weird I know, but I've had it since childhood) and so the only material that my ears tolerate long term is gold (I tried sterling silver and it was not well liked). Yeah, sometimes they're gunky due to eczema but other than that it's still okay.

    I have no idea why this grossed me out so much. I love watching earwax extraction videos and never get grossed out by them, but this video definitely did it. Maybe because its not meant to be in the earring, idk?

      if you break a gem stone, it's never gonna be put together again. it's either garbage, or perhaps it can be cut into one or more smaller stones that will be worth much less all together. if you break the metal parts of jewellery, jewellers can fix it. always keep even very small parts and being it all to them, then they can decide what can be put back together and what's more convenient to replace.
      oh and if you broke a stone, it most likely wasn't a diamond. they require a lot of force to break, much more than other parts of any piece of jewellery they're on. a gem diamond doesn't break if you drop it or step on it, you pretty much need to put it on a hard surface and hit it with a hammer to break it. glass and other common diamond replacements break much more easily. that's a big part of why diamonds have long been such popular gems.

      Yes diamonds are very hard. But yes they can break when they aren't like fist size, lol.

    It's honestly embarrassing to see how rich and how expensive the diamonds you're wearing are yet your hygiene is like this, especially to the diamond earrings. I guess some rich people were not trained strictly.

    • @danitho
      @danitho Před 2 lety +5

      I mean...to say she's not worried about her hygiene is a bit of a stretch. Build up happens. She said a lot of shampoo and conditioner gets caught up in ear rings. There's a lot in our environments that will get caught up in earrings. Including dust.
      And you don't have to be rich to own diamonds. They're actually very common.

    • @NotAnotherKuromi
      @NotAnotherKuromi Před 2 lety

      Earwax is naturally pushed out of your ear. Surely you've heard not to stick stuff down your ear holes because they are self cleaning? Part of that self cleaning process is forcing ear wax out of your ear canal, so some gets onto the outside of your ears, including the lobes.
