  • This is my Stax L700 Electrostatic earspeaker/headphone review ! I compare it specifically
    to an electrostatic speaker that I have listened to extensively. Can you get something similar when you put it on your head?

    Just to avoid drama because I mentioned them in the video very favorably. This video is not sponsored by headamp nor was there any other types of compensation. The units were promised to be returned and was returned after the review. I sincerely think headamp are cool and professional guys with an honest business model, especially their founder; Justin Wilson and wanted to shout them out.

    Nice review and comparison to the hd800. I'm a big hd800 fan but I think you were right on point with the comparison. I never owned the L700 but I did get to hear them and compare to my hd800 and even though the stax was only on the 353x I thought they were as good or better than the hd800 essentially everywhere. The only thing the hd800 had an edge in was bass and a touch bigger soundstage but at the same time the L700 had a uniquely fast and airy quality to it that was very enjoyable. I think I could own them both and be happy but I'm more into speakers now anyway.

    I had a pair of L500, and I miss them a lot. They had a certain sound that you can’t forget. I think I need these!

    Great review ! Can you make a versus between Hifiman Arya and Stax L700 ?
    Which you prefer ?

    Although I've tried Stax headphones at audio shows, I would really like to get a hold of them so I can try them in the comfort of my own home.

    Sold my sennheiser HD 650 for stax Sr 507 +323mk2 energiser . Much more involving lightning fast detailed sound sound especially good late at night , partner with high end Meridian 808v6 or similer for best results

    Nice review, do you remember how the L300LE sound in comparison to them? 🤔 I think your review mostly lines up to my experience as well.

    • @Jayiyagi
      @Jayiyagi  Před 4 lety +5

      Yea I actually had them at the same time. I wouldnt say L700 is like a L300 limited on steroids but more like just casual opioids

    • @Riseun
      @Riseun Před 4 lety +2

      @@Jayiyagi Hmm yeah I think so too. I found the L700 improved in the bass quantity and quality a bit, but I haven't had both at the same time so I couldn't say if the detail difference was huge. I'm assuming from your experience it wasn't really BIG?

    • @Jayiyagi
      @Jayiyagi  Před 4 lety +4

      @@Riseun nope. Not a huge difference.

      I have 2 pairs of the L300 Limited and matching 353 , from memory the L700 is a little tighter in the bass and slightly less wide , but in a blind test I probably wouldn't be able to tell , so I got the L300 limited set and AMP .(PS the headband and pads on the limited edition is pretty crap, first thing I did was order the L700 pads)

    It looks perfect as my wallpaper.

    what about comfort and weight?

    • @yoramdiamand
      @yoramdiamand Před 4 lety

      They are not heavy. Much of it is plastic. But if you are a head banger, they will fall off your head, and then the yokes may breake. The L700 mk 2 has aluminium yokes though.

    Got another stax model. Bass is very clean so it seems they are bas shy but they are not . Deep organ notes are produced very well. Do not compare them with martin logan speakers as stax are way cleaner.

    Would've thought comfort, materials, build quality, price etc was very much part of a rounded review.

      plenty of reviews on youtube covering that so I thought I would bring a new picture and concentrate on sound from my point of view. thanks !

    There are much better electrostatics than Martin Logan and Sennheiser make the most incredible electrostatic earphone ever although it's almost 60K :-)

      Senneheiser Orpheus HE-1 is not an earspeaker, it's a Headphone.
      And yes it's the best, but not by a huge margin.
      A Stax L700 or SR-09 paired with the T2 at 650V could probably beat it.

    I've never had Martin Logan's but I've had several models of Maggie's and they are great with mid-range and highs but just don't have any Bass or Sub-bass....
    Stax are the same which just does not do it for me .
    If they did a Stax hybrid that had some dynamic or even planar driver's to bring in the whole audio spectrum then I'm interested.
    Plus do they have to make them look so goofy ? My grandkids would laugh their ass's off if they saw me wearing those things .

  • @MrRad21
    @MrRad21 Před 4 lety +3

    Sure they sound good but the build quality and use of cheap materials is insulting at the selling price. Even $100 headphones have better build quality. I will stick with my Sennheiser, Hifiman and Focal headphones....
