- Today we take a look at Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Recently Ubisoft invited me to play 2 hours of this game as well as get a behind the scenes look at the development process. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a new open world adventure RPG set in the Avatar universe and here I have some raw gameplay and my impressions.

As I get older, I lean more and more towards the RPG 'experience', as opposed to the 'go to marker A, shoot some things, go to the next marker' of linear shooters. This looks likely to take me further into the lean

The older I get, the more I miss linear story games.
@@ShoddyLegion I don't do multiplayer, and single player campaigns are simply not worth the money now being asked. MW2 lasted around 6 hours. I've put over 100 into Starfield and countless into Cyberpunk. If they released Campaign Only Versions at a (substantially) lower price point, then maybe I'll reconsider buying them again

Yep, when I saw the delays, and recent Ubisoft games, I wrote this off as 'it's gonna be boring and very very subpar', but after seeing different youtubers play it, I am actually quite excited. It still has the ubisoft open world aspects, but it feels like a more fleshed out far cry primal, which I loved despite it being a spin off.
FCP is one of my favorite games from ubisoft and a hidden gem so this is getting me very exited.
As someone who's loved Avatar since the first movie first came out, I'm super excited about this game. Ubisoft be damned I'll buy this game and do everything possible
The thing is, it's ubisoft, but it's Massive Entertainment, which in my book is the only good part of ubisoft left
@Variapolis I completely agree. People are heavy on the Ubisoft aspect, honestly me included, but I have genuine faith in this one. I don't believe it'll be the same cookie cutter Far Cry game we've gotten in years past

1 handcrafted and very interesting planet with tons of content in it > 1000 planets of mostly emptiness. Agreed.
the looting minigame is neat and different but how many times do you want to do that mechanic while looting bushes, plants etc? it will get stale quick and probably moded out like in starfields lockpicking.
That depends. Starfields lock picking requires you to be like, thinking about it a bunch and it takes a long time, especially for higher level locks.
Conversely, the harvesting thing looks a lot simpler and quicker. It looks like you could get it done in less than a second if you're good at it.
However, we don't know yet. Have high hopes, but low expectations.
This is the first preview Ive watched and so far this puts it on my list too, but firmly on the same list with all Ubisoft games: "Games Best Bought On Sale"

They just need to add melee weapons and stealth takedowns. All I need, everything else is pure chefs kiss
This gives off major Far Cry Primal vibes. I don't think this will be a title I drop $70 on, but may snag over a sale and do a playthrough.

Man, I'm a native Swede, move to the US at 9 and now live in Australia with my wife and 5 kids. But man, I wouldn't want to be Sweden these days, it's not what it once was. As for the game, it looks okay, I don't trust anything Ubisoft, but congrats on the opportunity.
if it looks like a jungle and sounds like a jungle, it's probably an Ubisoft game.

@JuiceHead Would you say that this game is better or worse than the first " Avatar The Game " because if it's anything close to the first game it's going to be a goty contender. I truly believe the first game was ahead of it's time
Im gonna hold off until this actually releases. Given that they flew him out and likely also paid for his hotel, let him in their studio, and let him play their game, Its expected he's naturally going to say mostly good things. I dont trust it.
In terms of gameplay looks like a far cry game but in avatar world. The graphics are really good.
It would be cool if they let you choose sides like in the first avatar game

You're giving it a good pitch, but just looking at it and knowing it is a Ubisoft game, I can't imagine anything more lackluster.
As long as it has long-term potential, that’s what truly matters.
I'm sure there will be so much more to the game then what you played . And if there isn't I'll be very upset .

I share your enthusiasm for the films, but this looks like far cry game and not game made for the world of pandora. So I think this will be that kind of experience of yeah it's neat but will fall off really quick by copy and paste content. I still want it to be good but not holding my hopes up.

as it deserves it ,this is not a cash grab on the franchise but a fully fleashed out game they have put a lot of work and thought into.
but i was sold as soon as the first real trailer came out showing game footage.

Yah, for me if the story isn't very good, I wouldn't enjoy it that much. So hopefully they make it so you meet interesting characters and has an interesting story. Running around doing random things is only fun for a little while.

This game will be a palette cleanser to CyberPunk 2077. I wonder how collectibles are handled in this game as there is no mini-map.

I already know I'm going to like this game. I like avatar I love farcry and I love first person shooters I love beautiful open world games and I love a single player story and I love good graphics and yeah I know I'll like this game so I'll be getting it. Just not pre ordering it that's not really my thing. The only time I'll pre order is if they give the game 3 days early cuz other wise what's the point?

Had it pre-ordered since it was announced. Avatar is one of my favourite franchises and with Ubisoft making the game and it having a Far Cry gameplay vibe I was sold instantly. Also glad they focussed big on the music. The soundtracks for both movies and other media are some of my all time favourite.

It's pretty weird because my most to anticipated games are not even from a developer it's actually from Mars Beyond Skyrim anything from it and skyblivion I would also say skywind as well but yeah I am looking forward to them more than anything else now that's saying something about the game industry and where it's heading that people are actually more interested in a mod than a real retail game

I don't play anything anymore that I can't play co-op. Plus Im all about the FAR CRY series with coop so this is a no brainer.
I'm 95% coop games but Farcry never did it for me.

when i saw they gonna make an new avatar game and i saw the gamplay and i asked to much where is the human gameplay i played the james Cameron avatar the video game alot and i mostly played the human story then the navi one im somewhat disepointing

Why do game developers insist on forcing people in to third person on mounts? I mean I kind of get it with vehicles, because with many of them your view is obstructed.

It looks interesting, but I personally hate modern Ubisoft open-world games. Hopefully this evolves the formula

My dream would be to get this type of world in Starfield
I'm not a fan of Avatar - at all.
However.
I love Far Cry 4 and 5 because of how organic it felt exploring, FC4 more so than 5. These are two of my top favorite open world games. So if I can have those quiet, peaceful moments of just climbing down a random cavern that you find randomly while exploring, this is a day one purchase.

well let me tell you , assassins creed would be go to marker movie like where older ppl would lean , far cry to low cam,with a stick in the low grass , boring feeling , these bots would say the same if it would got out far cry primal now , if avatar gonna be 113$ with season pass ,is not gonna be a discount wait , ul buy it.
