I'm about 85% a metal head, but I rode with one of my best buddies from Florida to CHICAGO over a weekend to see Jamiroquai on Oct 30 2005 in the Congress Theatre, and it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life.
Aren't they the best xxx
@@mustapleko I'd say it's more like meateaters. We mostly eat meat, but feel the need to point out we do so anytime we eat anything vegan lest we be ridiculed by other meateaters.
This was my absolute fav band growing up through my teens and twenties and was lucky enough to see them live a few times in the UK! Fantastic show every single time!!!! Met Jay a couple of times through work too and he was a really nice guy, quite shy, which I thought was weird at the time! Lol!
Talent is off the scale!
I don't trust people who don't like funk. Whatever your background, if funk doesn't make you happy and want to shake your tush, something's seriously wrong with you.
@@phishcatt Right on! I remember my brother buying me a Kool & The Gang Greatest Hits CD for Christmas back when I was in high school or so (late 90's) and I used to rock that all the time. My friends and I worked at the local movie theater in town and the lobby music was controlled by a 5 disc changer that we had put in "Pure Funk", "Pure Disco" "Kool and the Gang" and other CDs in it almost 90% of the time because NO ONE complained about it.
1996. 12 years old me got money from mom to buy new jeans for Christmas. I came back home with this CD. 😂â¤ï¸
You choose... Wisely.
hahahaha que maravilhosa :)
Très bon choix ! 🙂ðŸ‘
Jamiroquai is that guy that metal heads love too. He's severely under appreciated
I am one of them. ðŸ˜
Think you mean Jay Kay, Jamiroquai is the band
I too am one of them. Played in one of the heaviest hardcore metal bands of the 90’s and listened to a ton of Jamiroqui.
Can confirm. \m/
Wow people can like more than one genre of music?!?!?!?!?! WHAT A FUCKING REVELATION
Jay Kay had no vocal coach. Mary Jane and Stevie Wonder. And he could do it whilst moving like a funky drunken master. One of a kind.
His mother was a singer I believe.
I remember seeing an interview of him (long time ago) in which he said that when he was auditioning for a band so he sent an audiotape, and the band was so impressed that they wanted to see him. The day they met, the band was excpecting a female vocalist, they didn't believe him at first, because his voice was so high.
Thanks for the video! :)
The way he sings really seems like he's softly screaming. That "whoa" part of the song always gets me, such a talented singer.
Emergency On Planet Earth is still one of the best albums i have ever heard! Loved Jamiroquai ever since.
Dunno, I'd lump Syncronized and Dynamite in there, too :D
I was so disappointed he did not perform 1 single song from that album both times I seen him live
His mother also taught him how to dance, which we don’t really see here but in their videos.
He doesn't dance a whole lot anymore because of his back problems but every once in a while he'll show something
Karen Kay a Jazz singer.
The music video for this song is amazing, the dude could MOVE back in the day!!!
Corner of the Earth is my favorite Jamiroquai song.
Mine are , space cowboy and virtual insanity , to young to die👀
Blow your mind is a special song.
When you gonna learn? Is a great great song.
absolutely............
it's a brilliant tune
Wonderful performance. I love how his British accent suddenly reappeared at the end.
The bass player needs some appreciation too. This guy is killer.
Lovely reaction Beth. Thank you. Your analasys is world class and really fantastic.
Paul Turner on bass … monster player .
Omg I’ve been waiting for this video since I discovered your channel! Thank you so much for this and please keep doing more videos about Jamiroquai, Soda Stereo and Gustavo Cerati!!! Would be awesome! Greetings from México, Beth! â¤ï¸â¤ï¸â¤ï¸
You're so welcome!
Very nice analysis. There are so many little details that you teach us. I really enjoyed it.
One of my fav bands... such a talent, check the earlier stuff. He dances around and keeps in time and on point.
Jay Kay is a long time favourite of mine. Love some Jamiroquai!~ Cheers!
A reaction to Seal's 'a kiss from a rose' would be great :-)
Agreed! Along those lines, a reaction to Dan Avidan's cover of that song would not be amiss either.
God! I've come here to ask the same thing..
czcams.com/video/GkMV3KDfhzw/video.html
(pd: attention to 3:35 guy, kinda love the reaction)
You are beautiful Beth. Also an amazing singer and teacher. For what I can see also very smart. Thank you for your videos!
finally, I've been waiting forever for you to do Jamiroquai
Great review, this band has been one of my favorites for years.!
Wow! Of all the 90s music my favorite Online Vocal Coach has covered - she finally covers my single favorite int'l star of that era !
This was a real treat. I am *so glad* you chose a live performance from his peak period a la "Travelling Without Moving". Your analysis of his vocal technique & style officially has my attention. Might do a lesson from you, now that I've heard you cover my single favorite singer 😄ðŸ™ðŸ’œâœ¨ðŸ‘
Hi Beth, thank you for making this video. My beloved Jamiroquai. I've been a fan since day 1. Seen them live twice.. so so good. I love them so much, I have 2 tattoos one of Jay's face and the little buffalo man. Thanks again. Keep up the great work xx
My pleasure!!
This has been my all time favourite song since I was a little girl! Thanks for doing this one 😊
Jay really feels the music, love him!
Please do more Jamiroquai performances!
I saw him live in South Africa a long time ago. Dude puts on a great show.
who could forget that music video and hat...good stuff back in the day, always impressed and glad to see singers keep their voices, really sad when they lose them, some just tour too much I guess..but they give us their all, so respect
Influenced greatly by Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, in turn, heavily influenced Adam Levine and Maroon 5
Funny you should say that because when I first heard Maroon 5 I thought it was new Jamiroquai
Nonsense
kind of ironic because I hate Adam voice but love JayKay voice
Yeah, I heard that too. I'd love to hear Stevie Wonder do this song. That would be interesting, as he tends to sometime go from very low to high in the same line of a song. Even low growling, almost guttural, and back up high from his throat.
Wonder and Jamiroquai are both incredible singers though.
@@ericlinville564 Yeah! Hahaha. The first time I've listened to "This Love" I thought it was a song by Jamiroquai too.
Hi Beth always love your insights.
You should listen to him sing high times. His vocals are all over the the place. It's wonderful
Jamiroquai is just lovely, and he has such a unique voice. Thanks for this; it's a great video
Just a comment : the singer's name is Jay Kay and the band is Jamiroquai. 😊😊
was a stringed instrument major, but I'm in love with your page even though the only knowledge I have about vocal music came from learning music fraternity songs lol. Love to hear your breakdowns
I miss you mentioning how powerful but still measured and gentle his voice was with a full orchestra accompanying him.
yes... I love your analyze full of , like the voice of Jay Kay . And your conclusion : his interpretation as "a tapestry, a beautiful painting".
This was a huge hit when it came out. The music video was ahead of its time
Instant classic!!!
What a treat!!
He and the band are amazing live. I have seen them three times. Jay Kay's dancing was amazing.
Life is just funny
Could you believe he’s been a smoker for decades? It’s odd. He’s amazing
ultra super mega hyper funkyyyyyy!! i love jay kay and jamiroquai ♥
Just love that one man dancing in the crowd.
I caught them back home in Chicago in 1999-2001. It was AWESOME.
Amo Jammiroquai, esse cara canta muito e a banda é brilhante.
Yes! Please more Jamiroquai.
Jamiroquai es una de mis bandas favoritas de toda la vida, Jay Kay es un genio!
To this day it is still sooooooo fresh!!!
Canned Head version of this show is AMAZING 🔥🔥🔥
Great choice of Jamiroquai!!! You always find ways to surprise us with great artists and reactions. While in the UK you had Jamiroquai in the 90s, in Argentina we had Illya Kuryaki & the Valderramas, great band, i think you will like them. They have hit songs like abarajame, coolo, jugo, jaguar house, chaco, jennifer del estero and expedición al klama hama. Also, my classic everytime request, please please please react to Elton John and George Michael Dont let the sun go down on me. I checked, and you have never reacted to any of these artists. Love from the southern most city in the world, Ushuaia, Argentina
Please explain us how Hiatus Kaiyote - The World It Softly Lulls (Live) is possible! :) Love your vids!
Omg Beth, you should be like a smile model or something. Really!! Your smile is just perfect, you're glowing!!
Great analysis
Thanks. I used to drive my Mini listening to this, in the 1990s. lol
There’s a live performance of “If I Like it I Do It†by then on CZcams that is just superb
Smooth Operator by Sade would be an interesting song to look into â¤ï¸
Excellent review on Jamiroquai!
Hes so good.
Still one of my favourite videos.
My God, I just know this isn't playback because this live version has some little "errors", but it's very close to the original version. Jay sings a lot
Thank You !
I love Jamiroquai .Please watch Jay Kay sing Upside Down with Diana Ross. It's wonderful.
I love his music and his singing, somewhat of a jazz and funk mix.
Grew up with Jay Kay. Awesome fun :)
This is absolute top of the line music in our history. There are very few artists that will carry on in time and still retain that freshness. In 50 years from now this will still be relevant
Thanks for the reaction! At around 2:02 Beth mentions that JK lets some husky tone through. Any idea how he does generate the husky tone?

Thanks for reacting to Jay Kay!!! Greetings from Argentina! 😊😊
Miyagi and Andy Panda please
Thank you for your comments. not knowing the technique of singing, this is what I felt intuitively, this quality of interpretation, precise, light on a rhythm which is personal to him . We fly with him
Just came across your channel (this video) and it is wonderful!!! I'm subscribed. :) Not sure if you're doing any more of these types of vocal reactions. But I highly suggest checking out an amazing Neo Soul singer named Musiq Soulchild and his video "Love". His vocal range and control is AMAZING!
How is your hair always so awesome
I would love to see you react to Manowar - Hail and Kill. Also greatings from Brazil
Hi from Tijuana México Beth !!!
My cousin used to hang out with him before he became famous. He always told me Jay was kind of a bully and an asshole lol so this idea stuck with me over the years even though I think he's talented. Overall, he sounds a lot like Stevie Wonder.
better vocalist than wonder. Jay Kay is up with the best vocalist's ever.
He's not even pushing himself here.. far better performances than this. The White Room shows his amazing vocals.
I believe you!😄
He's an astonishing singer and musician but sadly has a bit of a history of being a diva. Doesn't stop him being one of the best frontmen of all time, though.
This song is still my morning phone alarm
Have you esen their video for "Half the Man"?
A reaction to "Van Canto -Last night of the kings" would be great
React to Def Leppard Rock of Ages live 1988 in the round! The drummer has one arm.. he lost it in a car accident and continues to play and tour with the band to this day.. one of my favorite bands ever
Hi Beth Roars, I would like to suggest you a particular music "Virgenes del Sol - Pura Alcantara de Byström" I am sure you will love it.
Jamiroquai is one of Bruno Mars all-time favorite bands. That is saying a lot about this band when you influence Bruno !!!
I've always loved Jamiroquai. Beth, I think you would like Katatonia - July. Good show
I Looooooooovvvvveeee Jamiroquai!!!!
Fabulous live , no filters , auto tune or pitch correction , what else is there to say .
Rest In Beats Tobyâ¤â¤â¤
Technical note: this version is a HALF PITCH down from the original song, which starts with a Ebmi7/Ab7,Db7,Gbma7 etc.. This one is in Dmi
Jumped on it girl â¤ï¸ you know you want to sing it ðŸ‘🌹
Beth. Looking so beautiful as always ðŸ˜
God in heaven why must be so attracted to you Beth...Learning from you while my heart flutters is always such an experience.
I hung out with JayKay in the 90's after one of his shows. He was a great guy, and a lot of fun to hang with. We sat around, laughed and sang songs. For a famous person he was very down to earth.
SIMP
Hi Beth. Been a follower for a while, and every video I'm stunned at how unbelievably pretty your eyes. :)
Also, if you haven't heard of her already, you should check out Kimya Dawson and her song I Like Giants. It's such a cute song, and seems like something you'd really enjoy.
2:49 Jamiroquai's all about those unison strings sections, yo
Beth is perfect
Terence Trent D' arby " Wishing Well " , give it to a listen !!
BETH, have you seen puddle of mudd do a cover of about a girl? Holy cow you need to see it
The weird thing about Jay's vocals is that from the 3rd album onwards he's always tended to double up on the chorus in the mix. Sadly this means instead of belting it out he needs backing vocalists on stage.
I really want to see The Wild Rover - The Dubliners
One of the coolest cats EVER.
Did you listen what he was warning us about?
... BIG CLASSIC ... BIG SOUND ... BIG RESPECT ... OLD SCHOOL REPRESENT ... FUCK NEW SKOOL ...
One thing to point out is he is a man with a highly successful career, employing dozens of people.
Pretty sure people know this.
Know what
Roar ðŸ˜
Perhaps have a look at Rag 'n' Bone man as a contrast. His voice is so deep & rich when he does his funk and especially singing blues. Try the songs Human or Skin.
You should check out Mark Lanegan. His voice is made of whiskey, cigarettes and gravel. It's awesome. Harborview Hospital is a great one of his.
A bit of Just The Two Of Us toward the end?
React to London Grammar. Her voice is so powerfull and complete :)
Could you please analyze Too young to die by Jamiroquai?
I believe the little nuance she talks about at 4:40 is a blue note. In this case Ab, bent one semitone up from G.
Yesss, I am one of those recommenders, thank you so much for reacting to JK. :)
