No idea why I decided to do this....but today we'll be building an 8km straight base all the way to the "edge" of the void where the player gets teleported back to the safe shallows. Prepare for ghost leviathans, strange bugs, and a LOT of running!

8km in 20 minutes? Damn, Ryley's favorite activity may be swimming, but that man can SPRINT!
the swimmiing must've helped a ton XD
Haha ikr! My man’s legs are out of this world ;)
Bro can sprint at like 15 miles an hour
Dude has a casual 24 kmph sprint and can keep it up indefinitely somehow. I know people attribute his survival to having landed in the safe shallows but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that he'd have survived even in AUs where he landed somewhere harsher.
He also has the flippers on
This guy is actually keeping subnautica alive
Trying my best :)
@@TheLastBacon i dont want that this happens..such an great game shouldnt die!
@@TheLastBacon Keep up the good work Bacon. 👍
It's helping my love life too!
Yeah
"Swimming just past the barrier will make them retreat because you're not in the Void anymore."
You know something is wrong when the over 100m long sea monster won't follow you past a certain point
Bro, you have a rare Last Bacon L
Bacon hasn't commented on this comment in 4 hours
@@blametheghost what
Yep….what else could be out there :)
@@blametheghost Eh, I'm willing to cut him some slack. He has several hundred of these to go through, and he has to sleep too
@@johnmanuel332 Bacon has a track record of replying to every comment in record time (like literally almost Olympic Level Times). This is one of those rare cases where it hasn't (hadn't at this point) happened yet. Hence BlameTheGhost's comment
Honestly even with the dead leviathans, that unending black abyss terrifies me still
Same :)
Yep, I'm looking forward to Subnautica 2.0. I hope that we go deeper. I imagine that the depths we went to in Subnautica, were still quite shallow compared to what's really down there in the ocean.
And - the "highly volcanic activity" in the crater is a perfect explanation, why we see so much lava not so deep down. I like to think that if we compare the crater to the rest of the ocean, really the whole crater is the "safe shallows". It's all cute compared to everything out there.
4:45 Not even the Ghost Leviathans will go out here... We're where Ghosts fear to tread now, be on guard for what lurks and causes the Ghosts to fear may be far more great and terrible than one is willing to imagine.
Imagine if the sub says this: "Warning, you've entered the furthest reaches of open water on planet 4546B, the nearest solid ground is approximately 24km away. Scans indicate a titantic leviathan class predator dozens of kilometers beneath you.
Yeah that thought makes me really uncomfortable :)
@@topsgaming4266"are you certain, what ever you are doing is worth it?"
It would be great to have an update for the upcoming game in a few years, where instead of instantly teleporting back, it plays a soul screeching sound and an animation where you don't even see what's coming, you just instantly die in less than a second.
Imagine that: R! (incredibly short but terrifying noise) *perspective tilts mad* *flash of red* *crushing noise* *black screen* in less than a second. I already see the "What was that??!!" responses to it.
Just to feed the terror of what might be out there, I really like the theories that out there is only reserved for the true predators. I mean while the predators we see in the crater are nice, I like to think that they all look "cute" compared to what's out there. You'd be happy to see a ghosty or reaper or that cute little crabsquiddy the same way, you were happy to see a stalker later in the game.
Gargantua leviathan 😬
3:34 Imagine, bases on Reef Backs and Ghost Leviathans... Hey, that should totally be a thing in the next game, putting bases on living or dead creatures.
Both would be super sick haha :) Bases on Reefbacks actually used to be a thing!
like the world turtle but, ya know, smaller
I love how at 3:35 when you're holding the base piece on top of the dead Ghost, you can just see another one rising up like "oh HELL no what are you doing to my bro??"
And hey, twenty minutes to run 8km is pretty dang good! :D That's only a bit longer than it took me to do the 1.6km run in fourth grade! (...Okay, yes, I was unathletic then and unathletic now, haha.)
Ryley is surprisingly good at running given how little of it he does :)
the amount of nightmares you have to go trough to make this video is amazing (i still think void in subnautica is scarier then in sunbanutica BZ)
Haha you're not wrong :)
The chelicerates are scarier than the ghost leviathans in my opinion but the void itself gives a more creepy vibe in the original
@@lovegalaxyfn well than i think i am alone in this one, as i think chelicerates are cute especially the way they move theis mandibles when they attack :)
@@lovegalaxyfn they look cool but they aren't scary imo, they are big shrimp in my eyes and it just kills any scare factor, though I will say BZ's void may be on par with the original it definitely feels like there is something out there waiting in BZ much more than it does in the original game
Even knowing that the main and only threat in the void are the ghost leviathans,i still get a bit nervous when you go too far on the void, especially at the barrier, where they go away, just like if something is there and not even the ghosts want to see it
I totally agree - kept expecting to see something massive move in the dark :)
If I wasn't already up to my ears in existing projects, I'd be so tempted to write some fanfic with that base
Can I just say, I appreciate the stanley parable ost a lot. It sets the tone of the video well.
Thank you :) I love the soundtrack!
5:08 Well, you have entered a place that, if this planet had more mobs in Vanilla to flesh out the Void and the deep Abyss below you, would have probably things like the Garg and that old Single Cell concept... God, I hope some of the stuff from the concept art gets revisited in the "third" game because some of that stuff is SO COOL!
I wish we could’ve seen the single-cell concept :)
@@TheLastBacon the single cell is the one thing I hope either modders figure out how to add or it comes in a third game
I need to do this and make a base through the world. You've inspired me to put some hard work into good old subnautica. Hope your trip goes well and be safe.
Thank you kindly :)
I’m surprised half way through of you running through the base a portal didn’t appear taking you into the past before the ship crashed.
Haha sure looked like it would :D
Well clearly you must be traveling this week! You traveled to the end of the void!
Haha exactly :D
I was really hoping you would run through it at the end, and you did. Thank you. great video!
Thank you kindly :)
You can get through the barrier of 8192 using cyclops. I don't remember exactly how I did it but I know that you can slightly pass the 8192 barrier. And when you get off the steering wheel, you are like paralyzed because of your position in space. Also when you are near the edge of the world by all the 3 axes, welder in your hands starts shaking
Ooh I need to try that! :)
Could the shaky mask and hands be the result of a global positioning system? Apparently in older games like Halo CE the player model and items will start shaking the further the player is from the center of the map.
@@AnonEMus-cp2mn this is due to "floating point precision". your computer has to start dropping number accuracy to track your current position, and that threshold depends on how large the number system used for that is.
The joys of floating point. Every time you double the number you halve the precision.
Oh no, thats just the old version
There is a part of the map that kind of reaches out farther into the void. It is at the bottom of the crash zone near the crag field, you can see it in the online maps. Could have saved you a few base pieces. I know it’s useless now but just saying 😂
Oh that’s cool :)
The way you respond to every single comment that is left on your videos is amazing especially because of how long it probably takes.
I really enjoy doing it! :)
imagine if you somehow ho past to 8k mark and something so big shows up, it makes the gargantuan leviathan look like a crashfish.
That would've been SO cool :)
Could it really fit though?
Damn, I did a similar thing with the glass corridor only I wanted to see ghost leviathans up close, so the corridor wasn't as long.
Kudos to you, Sir!
Nice! :) Thank you!
I still need to get around to taking my Void Base to the very bottom... But that just takes SO LONG to do.
Yeah it's a loooong way down :D
@@TheLastBacon And it's so tedious to do too!
Really interesting, building a base at the very end was a good idea - kinda hoped the game would freak out a bit more though, guess the 2.0 build holds together pretty well. The run-through at the end of the video was appreciated as well.
Just in case you want to mess around in the void some more - was experimenting with Ghost Leviathans and they can jump up to six base units in height above the water surface. You can build floating foundations at that height to jump around and try to lure them into stuff but sometimes they lunge mid-air so it's a dangerous sport. It looks cool though, their physics weren't really designed for it.
Holy crap I definitely need to test that :D
That was an interesting video. Now I know how the edge of the map looks & had a laugh along the way. Great job, as always 😁
Thank you kindly :)
@@TheLastBacon You are so welcome 😊

Looks like it’s going backwards haha :)
@@TheLastBacon Now I can't unsee it 😂
Amazing video❤❤
Thank you :)
i thought a straight line to edge of void video would be boring but still decided to watch the video but it was one of the funniest, the way you dealt with the ghost leviathans was also hilarious, and I am not even halfway through the video but still its amazing
Yay thank you so much :) Glad you enjoyed!
I JUST LOVE WHAT TYPE OF INTRESTING CONTENT MAKE and that you and only are keeping subnautica alive! Amazing, keep going like that
Thank you very kindly :)
you have gone so far that even the ghost leviathans wont follow you
Exactly :)
This man has the best time management skills lol
Best or worst haha :D
Honestly I'm really injoying these kinds of videos
Thank you! :)
Hi Bacon! I love this game and love your videos, especially ones that involve base building as that is my favourite mechanic in Subnautica!
Thank you kindly :) Glad you like them!
I didn't actually know about the printbiome command or the different "zones" of the void, very interesting. How many hours did it take to build all the way out?
Honestly this one wasn't too bad - maybe like 4h of building? :)
1:09 I set up mine towards the edge of the I think either the Mountains or Bulb Zone... Maybe, I haven't been on in a while so I'll update y'all on where it actually is located in a bit.
Edit: I was actually very wrong about the location of where I put my base, however I have added a comment that better explains the location and where I actually put it.
Nice! :)
@@TheLastBacon Nevermind, my Void Base is on the complete opposite side of the map, one of my other bases is over there though in that general region. My Void Base is, if I'm orientating right, is in either the Sea Treader Path or the Dunes (Looking at the Interactive Map it could be either one) depending on how far North or South it is, however the Aroura's engines are directly East and completely outside render distance without looking to the side to force the very edge of the top left engine to render.
Your talent for subnautica vids Is insane! love all of em! Love the vid and keep up the amazing work!
Thank you kindly!! :)
recently i got very big hype on subnautica so thank you. keep up good work 😀
Yay thank you! :)
i think a giant drop tunnel woulda been cooler actually, imagine going through a hatch and then dropping down like 8000m before getting teleported by some mysterious force
Would be fun too :)
The void is a nice spot for a base
I don’t want to say this but first
Nvm the comments did not load not first
Definitely very pleasant :D
Thank you Bacon
Thank YOU! :)
you may have the most random videos on subnautica but, I have watched every single one. keep up the amazing work.

Thank you kindly for watching it :)
@@TheLastBacon You to for the content
how can u be not bored of this wow gg O_O !
Don’t even know :)
I built a 1000 metres deep void base in my main play through, I had to farm SO much for the resources to make it and had to make super quick dashes downwards just to build 2 vertical connectors. It took many hours but eventually I constructed what I called the “Void Research Institute” which I filled with the non-functional research equipment and some observatories. I also made a scanner room which I used the cameras to follow the ghost leviathans and watch how they behaved. It was a massive success, and was worth the trouble
Dang that’s crazy impressive :)
I'm so ready for Subnautica 3 or Return of the Ancients, whatever comes out first. I want to have a new feeling of playing Subnautica again.
Same!! :)
2:19 Gonna need Hadopelagic Pressure for this part of the video.
What's that? :)
Wow now just do it in survival 😂
Nice Video like always
Haha can’t even imagine :)
Since my home is the void, this is right up my alley
Impressive place for a home :)
Well it is only way to face my thassaphobia and fear of the dark
This is super interesting, I remember before the update I decided to seaglide out to the teleport point but actually had different results. After the 1000 or whatever it is where the void ends, i was just in neutral seas where i just kept going all the way out to 8192. But I never got teleported back, in fact I could keep going past the 'limit', where the only change was that my movement became ridiculously slow. I had the coordinates up the whole time and I was just moving at an absolute snails pace, but never got teleported back. I was able to go a good chunk of distance over what should be the end, just progress was pain lol. I turned around and was super slow until back within the limit where i was able to just move normally. It was a while back so I don't remember what it listed for the biome past the void, but once it changed to that it never changed again that i noticed. Very strange stuff. I think i went off the west side of the world but i dont remember haha
Escaping game limits is always cool. Especially if you start getting floating point rounding errors lol
Super strange :) Definitely love exploring these areas!
Its a "lagacy" version thing
Amazing video keep up the good work and a question how do u open the chat?
Thank you kindly :) And it's alt + enter on PC.
@@TheLastBacon thx for letting me know:)
5:51 the reason there’s no water physics is because the game still thinks you’re in a base, because you were when you were teleported. The game doesn’t register “in” the base as being inside it, but rather its toggled when you go in or out a hatch.
Love the base vids lol!
Makes sense :)
Liked and subscribed for the hard work.
Thank you very much :)
Ive been subbed to your for a while now and i've alwaysed like ur vids

This guy makes possible te things that im too lazy to see for myself.
Exactly :D
I wanted to do this myself for sooo long but, you know, didn't want to waste the time! Now I'm wasting my time watching it =)
Perfect haha :D
An experiment that's always fun to do is using the warp command and setting any coordinate to the 32 or 64 bit integer limit or a really far distance. It's fun to see the results but seizure inducing.
Love that :D
Legit.. if there’s not a character called Bacon in subnautica 3 I won’t be happy, keep it up bro 👏😎
