Franchise is in a good place if they keep the consistency square will get more of the recognition they deserve
What are you talking about? In the late 90s through the 00s Square Enix was the king of the RPG hill, and they've been tumbling down that hill ever since. Now they're struggling due to high production costs, long development times, and a seemingly abandonment of the old to try to re-invent the series.

@@3Storms no, what are YOU talking about? With a series like ff that has always been something known for innovating and doing something new with each entry since THE FIRST GAME, what do you mean by they're struggling because of one point being "their abandonment of the old to try and re-invent the series"? Their whole pt with ff is to do something new and ever since the success of VII, the scale of their projects have always been getting bigger and grander. (X being what started sequel hell and extra compilation series for the other games). You can argue that maybe the newer projects aren't to your taste, but to say the very thing that made this series popular to begin with is why its failing is silly.

I am reminded of my trauma. Just defeated chaos a month ago in ff1 pixel remaster. It's like i came from the tutorial and went straight to the final boss. That son of a bitch. Hahahahahahahaha
As an OG fan of the franchise it makes me sad to hear this narrative that the games are failing to resonate with the new generation of players in the same way it did for me decades ago, not sure of the extent of this or even if its real or not but it makes me nervous and a bit concerned for the future of the franchise given how the production value skyrocketed for the series. The remaining fans are certainly eating good for now though. (imo)
Kids these days have the attention span of a hamster. If it’s not an online shooter, they don’t want anything to do with it.
The problem is that final fantasy story telling quality has largely remained at the level it was in the late 90s/early 2000s. It was deep and ahead of the curve then, but today it's just too shallow, and dare I say poorly presented in the modern games. FF14 excepted on sheer volume of time spent with the characters.
It's hard to stay invested in the face of stilted dialog that's 30% loud exhales paired with shall we say economical animation and vague "mysterious allusion" plots. It all just feels so, archaic and shallow in the face of modern CRPGs with their whole wiki's worth of lore, complex characters, and heart grabbing stories.

Square just needs to keep Nomura as far away as possible from FF. Then they MUST shut down the ethics division and let the Japanese creative energy take over the gaming world like never before.
I'll take 90s style storytelling over modern writing any day. Forspoken was Square trying to tell a "modern" story and it was comically bad. @remigusker6024

I discovered the channel through the Origins series so I'm sad in a selfish way to see it be put aside but there's no question I still click almost everything here when I see it. (Avoiding 16 spoilers until it releases on non PS methods as I don't own a PS)

Hey guys, long time listener of the podcast here! I think what you're doing with the channel is great, but I'm also really stoked to hear you're considering doing a podcast again. As someone who didn't have a lot of friends into Final Fantasy, listening to the podcast over those many years really made me feel like I had those close friends who loved what I loved.
It's hard to explain, but listening to the podcasts made me feel like I was a part of those conversations, and that was special in a way that's different from the videos. I think the CZcams channel is fantastic, of course, and I'm so happy to see it continue to succeed!
In any case, all the best for the year ahead and hope the channel continues to grow!
I echo this greatly. Longtime listener who found it, went backwards, and listened to as many as I could. I appreciated the deep dives and convos and really missed it when you all paused (though I greatly understood how you felt, especially being a new parent now and trying to balance my hobbies and work). I was in a focus group for FF1 at Nintendo’s original headquarters in Redmond when I was 6 or 7; 1988 or 1989 (I honestly can’t remember the year). It’s been a part of my life ever since. I consider myself literally one of the original fans of the franchise. You guys at FF Union are awesome and I’m grateful for how deep yall go into the history and behind-the-scenes aspects of Square and the entire FF franchise. It truly resonates with me and brings me back to the days of pouring over the strategy guide and chillin with my friends and kicking ass on the game. Love you guys!! Please keep up the great work! This has quickly become my new favorite CZcams channel. I have no particular expectations of what you do and when. Like any good Final Fantasy game, I'm just along for the ride.
Currently, The Complete History videos are my favourites but I understand why they might not be a high priority. There are few things worse than putting passion and energy into something that might not resonate the way you wish it did. They also might not be as viewed simply because the games covered are not most people's favourites. I suspect the videos for VI-X will have a much higher viewer count.

There are CZcams Content Creators called Final Fantasy Files, where they dive deep on a particular scene/segment of a storyline. This approach attracts viewer, requires more opinion than factual research and could be implemented in Shorts.

I’ve only been a Final Fantasy fan for a few years now, but it has become my favorite gaming series. Keep up the good work. 👍
I love Remake and Rebirth. The open world aspect and many side quests in Rebirth gives it a lot play time hours . If you really wanted to 100 percent the game with all the side content it will easily take a minimum of 90+ hours. Replaying on hard mode for certain things will definitely put you over 100 hours. It’s a very well made game and worth the cost.
Just FYI your second event is one day before a massive official FF7 Rebirth concert in Rome that includes a Square staff meet and greet, if I saw correctly that it’s September 14. Now if it takes place in Rome, that’s amazing. If not, you’re probably causing a conflict with fans.

a tip i always thought was obvious. but anymore not so sure: have money set back. i've heard of companies that were always on the edge of going broke. on the other hand i've heard of a official at Nintendo stating they could lose money for a century and still be going strong. in school i was always taught to have at least 3 months income put back

The Character Origins videos are something I still want to get through, though they were probably a major effort to do on your part.
As for a project I'd hope you won't entirely abandon, the Complete Evolution of Jobs feels like it could still be done, especially as the games have become increasingly less Job-centric over time, similar with Dragon Quest, which feels like it used them in spurts at most, not unlike Final Fantasy at times

Some other *FF* Games could've gotten the same Remake Treatment, just like *Final Fantasy VII Remake & Rebirth!* They all deserve to have Remake Makeovers!
Nobody wants to wait decades to play episodic games. Let’s be real, ff7 remake was announced almost 10 years ago and we just got the second part. Ppl forget games take extremely long to make especially at this scale.
I get this desire, but honestly, I kind of want Square to look to the future after FFVIIR trilogy is done. Only other lookback I could want is another Dissidia game, if only bc Clive is all but designed for an addition to one.
@@Caterfree10 Well, if you ask me, *Square Enix* could've make a Brand Newest *Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia* Game, and they could've added Zenos yae Galvus from the *FFXIV* franchises and also added the characters from *FFXVI* Game in it.
It's kinda sad that only ff7 contents gets views. Where's the other ff love??

I watch these videos even though, sadly, I absolutely abhor the franchise these days. I generally find most things interesting even if I wouldn't consider myself part of the "union" anymore.

If I could office advice it would be to diversify. CZcams and the algorithm machine are fickle. One day it will work and one day it will not (for hundreds of reasons). If the status quo is enough that's good. If not exploring new options outside of YT to compliment this channel will reach new viewers. YT is not the only platform despite what people think.

@@rollforbooty I only recognized the clip with tifa on a segway, so I would say odds are they haven't seen much if any promotional vids like me. I avoided every bit of promotion I could so I didn't have as much spoiled, but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that.

The franchise in its current state sucks. People are burnt out on FF7. Sales of Rebirth shows that. 16 sucked. Also Underperformed. Square is to blame for forcing 7 down everyone's throats for decades. Ignoring the other games in the series and going full Bayonetta.
There's not much for creators to talk about.
We wanted a remake. That's why it was remade.
FF 7 Rebirth is a masterpiece. Sales are low because it's a PS5 exclusive. I would love to see other entries get more attention, but FF 7 has revitalized the franchise.

I'm not sure if you realize. Everyone who's a fan of Final Fantasy doesn't consider 7 the best. So, for everyone else, 7 being remade isn't a big deal.

@hotdogs8170 I never said the game wasn't good. Remake outsold Rebirth over the same period of time. So, saying it's exclusive means nothing.
FF rebirth was an excellent game. Truly a masterpiece. The problem is they made so many trash games like FF choas or whatever, tons of crap mobile games, FF XV (it was not that bad but to compared to ff7r it was a disaster),
They made so many worthless games that it hurted the franchise reputation. It will take years to recover and if they continue to release shit games they will go bankrupt.
