Mike I truly love your videos more than any other tech you tuber (MKBHD would be a close second) and I get really excited when I see ur notification pop up on my devices. Though you primarily use Apple products on a daily (as do I) ur never biased in ur reviews and ur fair on both sides. Compared to channels like Pocketnow which has become increasingly one sided and bias lately. I really appreciate how u compared these two devices. It’s not the same story as others which include knocking the iPhone down for its weaknesses and not mentioning its strengths. I really do appreciate and enjoy ur work. Keep it 💯🙌🏾

Usually don't comment on videos, but enjoyed this so much I really wanted to. I'm a huge apple fan, not switching! but enjoyed hearing positives on a different device. Going to stick to my iPhone 8 for a while, but upgrade to the XS down the road.
Hurry and trade up to XS Max, they named it Max for a reason. You will be blown away by the size difference. I got my XS Max on launch day and am still in awe of it's massive screen. I came from iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone X.

Actually was looking at the Pixel 3 today at Verizon (by the way finally got my Apple Watch 4 ) The only downside I found was the feel in my hand it just didn't feel as premium as XS Max (which I have). Not sure if it was because of inside lighting the screen seemed vibrant and colors had depth just couldn't get over the feel holding it. If I was an Android user the Pixel 3 would be a contender if I was an Android fan. Great video Mike, keep them coming
God that mic on the Pixel is utter crap.
I think I saw on Reddit that the Pixel had a software issue regarding the mic. I could be wrong though.

@@DrMacintosh How can it be "months" ago when the phone was only released in mid-October? How often does Apple release software updates? Google only releases non-security updates once per month so we are due to have another one in December. The fix for the audio recording and RAM management should be included in the next update. I have the iPhone XR and the Pixel 3 XL which I picked up when it was $200 off. The camera is definitely better on the Pixel, however video and audio is miles better on the iPhone. The battery on the XR seems to be a bit better than the 3XL, which like you said can have great days and other days it's mediocre. The build quality is much better on the XR. My 3XL came out of the box with a tiny scrape underneath the glass near the edge (like it had been pried off) and the sim card tray doesn't sit flush. I also prefer Face ID a lot more than a fps. You don't have to shuffle the phone in your hands, and jumping into notifications is faster. The vibration motor is still a lot better on the iPhone imho, the Pixel's is precise but it feels very weak. The display is sharper on the Pixel, but I only notice at about 4 inches from my eye. What you will notice is the difference between OLED and LCD. Blacks aren't as inky black on the XR, but it does have the Pixel beat in brightness. The speakers have better clarity and much better stereo separation on the XR, whereas the Pixel boosts the low end frequencies and has more bass, but the back glass vibrates a lot, even when watching a TV show. Both phones have their pros and cons, and I still don't know which one to keep. I love the Night Sight feature of the 3 but the build quality has me a bit pissed, $700 is still expensive and I don't trust that it's water resistant. The XR has better biometrics but it's very heavy, and the side bezels are pretty thick.
I own the Max coming from 7+. I wish Apple would let the Max be able to use the wide lens for bokeh, like how it does on the XR. I would’ve gotten the XR, but it came out a month after and I couldn’t wait. Guess I’m impatient. But I love everything about it.
Thank you so much for your input. I wasn't really considering the XR due to it's display but now I'm seriously eying it. It's now a tossup between it and the LG V40 as they're priced exactly the same here.
Safina go for the XR. the display is totally fine. I'm on XR now , was on a X previously. The wide angle lens portrait mode is a big plus to me on the XR
If your story is true (which I doubt) and your brand new phone came damaged, why didn't you contact Google and return it for another one? There are multiple videos here on CZcams that clearly show the Pixel 3XL battery life to be better than the iPhone XR. Here is an example: czcams.com/video/XjTjL0YS2iw/video.html My Pixel 3 XL doesn't vibrate on the back any more than any other phone I've had, so perhaps (if your story is true) yours was damaged and you need to return it for a new one. I, personally, prefer the quickness of the fingerprint sensor to the slower face ID, so biometrics boils down to preference.

Great review!! I realize that I am arriving a little late to this party. It is always funny reading the comments and people arguing over phones who’s companies really do not care about this one individual’s purchase and doesn’t even know that they exist. But yet they defend them like it’s there children 😂. In the end both of these are awesome phones, and technology certainly has come a very long way and taking giant strides over the last decade. It is so awesome that we live in an age where we have so many options to choose from based on individual user experience. While it is highly debatable that we still have not seen “the perfect phone” we are so close! I can’t wait to see what kind of technology awaits us in the next decade. ✌️

One of the great things about android is the variety, there are plenty of cheaper android phones for much less money (moto g comes to mind)

Interesting.
Both have pros and cons and I think ultimately it really depends on what OS you're more used to for most people.
Overall both are really great choices regardless.
If you really have a problem with the shaking thing with the iPhone video recording you can always get a gimbal will instantly resolve that issue.
At the moment, I'm using an iPhone 7+ 128 GB and I'm still okay with it.
I _might_ upgrade within the next few months or hold out further til the next set of iPhones are announced by Apple around September 2019.
Thanks for the comparison of these two phones. I have the Pixel 3XL and was curious how it compared to the iPhone Xs Max. I hope Google can fix the microphone problem. It's one of the only issues with it (besides the notch, of course.) I agree with what you said about the Pixel's speakers. It does sound really full, but yes the iPhone has the better sound. I got it at the $700 black Friday sale price, which is what I think it should be permanently.
If they were the same price, I would probably choose the iPhone over the Pixel due to some of the iOS advantages and the better audio recording, among other things. But a huge advantage for the Pixel is the unlimited full resolution uploading of pictures and videos to Google Photos. Apple really needs to match this. If they did that, it would be epic. I'd probably stay on iOS for good.
