      It was terrible for a cat with a very stinky litter box. This is also a cat that only Everclean litter and one other litter controlled the smell. That was one smelly cat! I've never had another cat that bad, I have 3 cats now and can use other litters with no issue.

    • @DevMackenzie

      I got this brand before seeing this video for the reason that my two year old cat was having issues with a long lasting UTI and wanted to monitor his urine with the color system. I discovered that I hated pretty litter for the reason that it is the WORST if you want a low tracking litter. Seconds after use, the cat had dragged litter pieces all throughout my apartment even with a gorilla-mat for litter catching. I am constantly CONSTANTLY sweeping multiple times a day now and have to wear slippers through the house because I’m always finding granules the minute the cat exits the covered litter box. Once the cats dirty this litter I’ve had for a couple weeks I’m never going back to it. Never had this issue with other litters

    I have been using PrettyLitter for 3 months. I was cleaning out the solids today. When stirring the litter, I found blue green coloring and the colored litter was clumpy. I FREAKED out. I did some googling and found on the PL website that if the urine sits at the bottom without getting stirred, it will turn that off color and consistency! I have a litter box liner inside my cats top entry box, so the stirring sometimes doesn’t always mix. Just to be clear; When the blue-green color also looks like a slushy texture almost, that’s the non stirred litter look you’ll find. Thankfully, it was a normal thing. Nothing wrong with my tortie, Buyo. Wanted to pass that along as some helpful info for anyone that may need it.🙂

    This is our first month trying it. I have a sensitive nose (my family literally thinks I'm psychic because I can smell things, like if they snuck a candy bar or if they changed their sheets weekly or took a shower, etc.... lol I just let them keep thinking it, but pretty much it's not psychic, I can just smell things really good)... well, the Pretty Litter is the first cat litter where I rarely smell anything at all (I've only caught the faintest scent of poop 2 or 3 times this month while she was actually pooping, but it goes away when she covers it up). And no one else in the house (with a normal sense of smell) smells anything at all.

    I have used Pretty Litter for several years and love it. The convenience is great. It shows up on my doorstep once a month, so no trips to the grocery store. It also made a big difference when it alerted me to my new rescue cat's UTI. Finally, the company's customer service is excellent. Their East Coast fulfillment center accidentally sent me the wrong product once and PL overnighted a replacement of the right product. They earned my loyalty.

    If you love walks on sandy beaches, this is the litter for you. Our litter box is on white floor, where you can’t SEE the litter scatter, but you can hear the crunch-crunch-crunch all over any non-carpeted area of the house. I’ve been sweeping twice a day. It’s even on our bed. 🤨 The odor control is great the first week or two, but it doesn’t last nearly a month.

    I clean my cat's litter box morning, noon, and night. I don't like the idea of my cat stepping into urine absorbed silica for one month everyday. The cleanup and dust don't seem to be really that much different then the litter I use. Pretty Litter costs 3 times as much as the Costco brand Scoop Away (42lb bag for $9.95 on sale every 3 months). This lasts six weeks for one cat. The color indicator is nice but not worth the cost increase IMO.

    I’m not a huge commenter, but if anyone has struggled with inappropriate toileting (like we have) pretty litter has been so worth it.
    I have an elderly cat who got into very bad restroom habits, toileting on any and everything but the litter box. No health issues, but we just could not break this habit.. I washed out the clay litter from her litter box and decided to splurge and try Pretty Litter.. because the cost of dry cleaning, upholstery cleaning and the stress of not knowing where she would go next was just too much..
    Within one week not only was she using the Pretty litter as appropriate, her personality had also drastically changed. She is out and about more.. and less skittish. The cost is higher, but I will say 30 days for one kitty isn’t terrible, and scooping daily doesn’t even feel like a nuisance when it is so easy.
    I cant tell you why any of this happened, but Pretty Litter has really improved my life and that of my older little princess Cora. 🐈‍⬛

We got pretty litter because they wanted a more light weight litter so it’s not so heavy to take out. That’s fine. But being 12 and 11 years old, they both forget to clean it out for days on end. Pretty litter isn’t bad, it’s just that the urine will settle at the bottom and sit. It stinks. Needless to say, we switched to clump n seal and can’t even tell we have cats. No smell at all.

    I wasn't huge on spending that amount on litter, but it has helped us a lot. We wouldn't have noticed at all that our cat was dehydrated (we have 2, and he was drinking water, but one was not drinking enough), and when we went to the vet, they didn't find any crystals, but advised us to provide him saline fluids for 6 weeks. I wish I could have something similar without that much money, but I can't. The odor control is fine. For us, with 2 litter boxes for 2 cats, the litter seems to last for 3 weeks. We can push it to 4, but I would prefer a bit more quantity.

    I've been using Pretty Litter for about 6 months. I have three cats but only need two bags a month, I keep it very clean.
    It is expensive, but I really like it and most importantly my cats like it.

      2 bags lasts for a month for 3 cats?
      i have 2 cats & i was wondering how many bags i would need. i know it says a whole bag isn’t needed if you only have one cat (& half will do) but should i use a whole bag for 2 cats or 2 bags for 2 cats?

    Love the video! It's exactly what I needed to see to make my decision. I'm going to check out a few more before I subscribe to your channel.
    I have had cats all my life , particularly male cats and I will tell anyone what I told my extremely frugal fiancee. Sure cat food and the litter may be expensive but which would you rather spend the money on? $120 a month on quality products or a random reoccurring $300-1200 vet bill?
    I think that this pretty letter idea is brilliant and wish they would have came out with it sooner. It gives you a chance to change your cat's food or increase water intake before taking your cat to the vet for an expensive bill that could have been avoided just by adding another bowl of water around the house.
    Thanks again!

      Please adopt an adult cat! through my entire life ive had cats, Kittens adopted a few weeks from birth, kittens who were born in the house i still live in 4 years ago. young juvenile cats we have adopted through rescue, and adult cats we have adopted through rescue organizations. Currently I love and spoil three adult cats, one born in this very house 4 years ago, one adopted in his adulthood (3-4years) and the mother of the young one rescued from the streets preggers 4 years ago (she was around 1-2 years old when rescued.) they are approx 4 years, 6 years, and 12years old. my family has raised multiple liters of kittens trust me just because you "adopted it as a kitten" wont mean itll develop any special bond towards you. My cat whom was born in the same house i live in and has had a perfect spoiled indoor life her entire life is the least affectionate and bonded cat. and my 12 year old who I adopted as an adult is significantly my most affectionate cat, he is the biggest love bug in the world. But beyond that he has a special bond with me and is obsessed with me. and this is a cat who lived on the streets for potentially multiple years. when we adopted him we adopted another adult cat who was just stupid loveable towards anything that was alive, seriously you could toss this cat 10 feet in the air and catch it and it would trust you 100% and not lay a claw on you. sadly a window screen was broken and he got outside without our notice and we found his body in our yard due to native wildlife (mountain lions).... (outdoor cats are super likely to have an early death)... anyways interesting enough our most lovable amazing pet cats have been adopted as adults, I personally chalk this up to the fact you can gauge an adult cats personality at the adoption center and pick the perfect one. trust me when i say this because it is a fact, KITTENS DONT HAVE FULL PERSONALITY. if you adopt a lovable kitten it may not be a lovable adult cat, and if you adopt a mean scared kitten it might be the biggest love bug on earth as an adult. The determining factor here is simply the cats personality, not how you raise it. and the fact is a cat wont develop the personality you'll live with 95% of its life until its an adult and spayed/neutered. so when you adopt a cat whose personality you connect with that's already spayed/neutered and an adult you are promised a lovable perfect pet cat. but when you adopt a kitten you are absolutely taking a gamble on its personality. i can confirm it has nothing to do with the way the cat was raised. The cat who we rescued personally was abused and neglected and preggers and she is sweet as peas but just not that crazy about people. but her daughter who lived the dream life for cats perfect diet and enrichment with a loveable home her entire life from the second she was born does not like people at all. so trust me... if you want that dope lovable cat who will sit on your lap while you watch youtube videos and purr in your ear at night, adopt an adult cat who is already a love bug and needs a home. rescues are full of them...... the kittens will find homes 100%, its the adults who need adoption. I know personally cats are an absolute must in my life, and the sad reality is i will outlive my cats... :' c ... but when that happens i will definitely never adopt another kitten, not that it isnt fulfilling to own cats who dont care about you (i have 2). but its seriously the most amazing thing in the world when you find that cat who truly loves you and loves people. dont we all want a snuggle bug cat. when i was younger in highschool we adopted kittens and none of them were as good of companions as the adult cats I adopted. Everybody wants a kitten, the kittens get adopted first. most of the time when a person or family decides to adopt a cat they get a freaking kitten. I hate it, but its how the world works. so skip the kitten and find a love bug at your local humane society or shelter.

    • @oo63pies00
      @oo63pies00 Před 4 lety +1

      also... adult cats adopted via adoption centers are basically always litter trained, spayed/neutered, and confirmed healthy. Its such a good choice for every reason... we have even unknowingly adopted a kitten who had a genetic asthma problem, intense respiratory issues. was very hard for us to deal with, this wouldn't have been a thing if we didn't opt for the "cute newborn kitten" and instead got a healthy adult cat. not that we didn't do everything for her and love her, but regardless nobody wants that, not fun to hear a cat suffer to breathe. (let me note this "newborn kitten" wasnt adopted to early or anything, she was the ideal adoption age and size.)

    We've been using this litter now for a week and a half, and it does clump, which confused us, so just a heads up to others. Also I would do some research about the problems of inhaling silica dust which does come up when you do the litter, it is a small amount. The other thing is, the litter is so fine, that it tracks all throughout the house and doesnt fall as easily from the fur between the spaces between their toenails. You are supposed to swirl the litter around so that the cat pee evaporates, what actually ends up happening is that it breaks into smaller dime size clumps and then you will need to smash those up quite a bit. There is no smell, if anything it might smell like vanilla....but barely.

    I had to put my sweet girl in the hospital today with a severe UTI. After paying $3,000 for hospitalization and treatment, the cost of this litter seems really reasonable if it will help keep my Mary Kitty from getting this sick again. Just two days ago, she was busy killing mice in the kitchen and attacking the Christmas Tree. This morning, she was at death's door. Cats are so good at hiding illness, and she is not a young kitty anymore so, if this helps me keep her healthy, I'll gladly pay the extra cost.

But, I am so grateful she is still with us. She loves her new litter and it is just so much cleaner and more hygienic than her old clumping litter. Anything to keep bacteria from sneaking into her little lady parts is good and the fact that this litter does not stick to her and is so much drier than clumping litter has got to help keep her cleaner. Thanks for your concern!

  • @TabsOnSabs

    I've tested out the pretty litter and though it has less dust, I've seen no benefits to my cat. He's actually started having sneezing fits that are concerning me. I also ordered this not realizing it was a six month subscription (which was sneaky of the company). Also with the exchange rate in Canada, it cost a lot more than advertised. The second box cost $42. I cancelled my subscription and then a week later I received another box and another charge on my credit card! Also, one box can last a lot longer than one month. They suggest changing it monthly because that's way more profitable. I've had the same bag of pretty litter in for six weeks and it seems fine. So I don't really like how this company operates. And then you can only get a refund within the 30 day period after initial ordering - that's as long as a bag lasts so really you should get an extra week to decide.

    I have seen blue and green in my litter but the vet says no infection. All in all though I love this litter and have used it for years! This is the only one I have EVER used that almost entirely eliminates smell. The box is within 5 ft of my bed so that is important. I use 3 bags a month f or 2 large cats. I also found that since it lasts longer than other litters I buy less often so the price evens out. I can also skip or extend my next shipment up to 3 months i think is the limit for skipping and frequency.

    I found the odor control to be sub par to even clay litters. I don't know about other silica based litters (pretty litter says this isn't silica based btw).
    I use animal bedding (wood pellets from the farm supply) I spray them with water and they expand 3-4x in size. $5 for 40 pounds. I dump it out completely every 1-2 days instead of scooping. With 5 cats it costs me $10 a month and there is no smell. If you let it go beyond 3-4 days there will be a smell although it was still less obnoxious than pretty litter.

    • @stargypsysoul604
      @stargypsysoul604 Před rokem

      I have 6 cats and currently tire of the issues clay litter causes (the smell, the mess, the sticking to their fur if they step in someone’s pee spot because they don’t like to go potty alone). Years ago I tried the animal bedding and my old bitty kitty basically told me to fluff off and hated the texture and just went in the house wherever she felt like. I never thought to spray it to expand it before then using it (because the other 5 really don’t have preferences). But I am gonna do your method and likely be in heaven! Thank you so much for sharing. (I’m already dumping clay litter daily because… 6 cats! So it’ll be easy transition).

    We are trying it now. It works well but definitely $$ and definitely doesn’t seem to last a month. Wanted to try it because our litter boxes are unfortunately near our hvac system and sometimes with clay and others I can smell it. This works pretty well with smell and dust doesn’t seem as bad. Especially like she said with the different kinds of dust. The one thing I noticed is that it tracks SUPER. bad. But over all decent. Might try a cheaper version of this next.

    We are trying to see if our cat prefers pretty litter or Skoon (soft pebble-like litter) He uses both regularly but prefers to urinate in the PL and poo in the Skoon, so not sure whether to keep buying both or see if he adjusts to one kind. I like that both products are odor absorbing and light weight, but both brands require some sweeping and Skoon leaves footprints on the dark floor by the litter box. I've been using this for my single cat for a few months now. We have a small house and we never smell the litter. Much better at controlling the smell than the other main brands at the store. The only thing that is difficult is this litter tracks like crazy! I put the litter box in a bigger cardboard box from Costco and got a special mat with holes that catch the litter to put next to the box. That has helped. This litter is awesome we never smell it and I don't scoop it every single day either. I also don't have to lug 20lb bags of litter from Costco anymore!
