  • If you are interested in helping us keep the show running please think about buying us a drink or throwing us a tip to our Venmo. www.venmo.com/u/tastebudguys We go after Fortaleza, one of our most requested tequilas. This one follows a more traditional path with no additives (so we're told). It stands up pretty nicely, although the price tag stings a bit and it's dealer choice on whether there are better buys. However, if you like a good traditional tequila that's smooth but not overly sweet, you won't be disappointed with this bottle.

    You can call us Taste Buds or the Two Guys behind the counter, it doesn't matter to us. We are two guys from Missouri doing a Craft Beer Review and a Whiskey Review (or Whisky Review depending where you are from) with a drive to always Try Something New. We won't drive you crazy with snobby tasting notes that no one else will understand, just a general idea of what the beer or food tastes like. We want YOU to join us in trying exciting new things to open our minds, and pallets, to something different. So join Chris Horn and Lyal Strickland as we foray into some suds and grains and stumble all over ourselves trying to sound smarter than they really are. Some of the things we love to try are Scotch, Bourbon, Rum, Tequila, wine, and craft beer of all kinds. We argue between Stouts and Porters, IPA and Sour, Farmhouse and Lager. I'm sure there isn't anything we won't disagree about except that we like to try new stuff.
    If you have a favorite brewery or Distillery or anything else, be sure to send us a message so we can try it at Thosetastebudguys@gmail.com

      It was pretty good. I'd be interested to try the winter blend. I will say in our area it's about $20-$30 higher than I think it should be, but that's not too much for a splurge every now and then just to get exactly what you have a hankering for. - Lyal

    I’ve had the blanco. Very good, I’ll be interested in your review of that. I can’t attest to the repo or anejo personally but have also heard good things. I’ve had the Fortaleza blanco side by side with tequila Ocho blanco and I have to say I prefer the Ocho. Also had a bottle of tequila Ocho’s repo (can’t remember the variation) and it didn’t last the weekend. 💯🔥

      Thank you! We appriciate the feedback. And yes, it had been mentioned that the music was too much. In the newer episodes we have toned it down quite a bit. Hopefully it is better quality now. We have had a few sound problems here and there though. Again, really appriciate you taking the time to tell us though. ~cheers my friend! -chris

      Tequila Ocho Reposado. I assume there is an episode of it up as well. If you like vanilla, you might like Don Julio 1942 or the Avion 44. But those dang bottles have gotten pretty expensive for what they are.

    You’d be fine with vanilla flavoring and sweeteners in a bourbon? Why would you be fine with it in a tequila

    • @tastebudguys
      @tastebudguys  Před 15 dny

      Not sure what you are referring to, I haven't watched that video in a while. But in general, I/we are certainly not ok with vanilla flavored bourbon. At least its not our thing. To each their own, of course.

    • @DzigaJerkov
      @DzigaJerkov Před 14 dny

      @@tastebudguys you guys just seemed to refer to additive free tequila as a health thing that isn’t that important, when “additive free tequila” just refers to tequila that doesn’t have coloring, flavorings, and sweeteners like most tequilas do bc there aren’t as many rules as in whiskey

    • @chrishorn8755
      @chrishorn8755 Před 14 dny

      I don’t think that would be the opinion we have at this time, at least. We are slowly learning about tequila, since it doesn’t have as many rules as bourbon, like you said, it takes a lot more digging to know about every bottle. We are learning as we go friend.

    I just had this tonite. Good but not impressed with the price coupled with the hype. No. LOTE 62-? ....cant tell if its an "A" or "4" written on the bottle. Good, nothing wrong, but so disappointing for $90 USD and the scarcity. I was expecting a lot more. I paid $115 for the G4 XA and $165 for Codigo Barrel Strength Anejo and was thoroughly satisfied in the taste department in both products which outweighs the high price in my book. With Fortaleaza I am unhappy all around, good flavor but 90 bucks? I think future searches will bring me more enjoyable products at this price and below. This is a $60 product if $90 gets me what I get.
    I already know this reply will be coming from fans "Yeah, but you gotta buy LOTE # XYZ cuz dats da good one and all the the lots are different" No, no I dont, a hit and miss product is not worth $90. You risk the money for the hit and miss product, find the good one, and then sell it to me and I'll gladly pay you $90 for the prescreened spirit. Guillermo can send me three free bottles of the next LOTE at his expense and even out the deal. I will be heading toward ArteNOM 1146 for my quest for anejo redemption. yes I will post this on more than one channel.
    Update: ArteNOM 1146 was a huge letdown LoL.
