    I think I agree with every ranking. My one quibble is transportation. Yes WDW has more options but they are necessary. Some folks forget that you don't just pull up to MK, it takes time. Same for AK. The only way there is the bus and if you are not good with time, buses can be your worst enemy. With UOR, you can walk everywhere, literally, although I would not walk from Endless Summer. Also a few walks are long.

    I freely admit that Disney's rides are not as thrilling as their Universal equivalents, but in a way that's kind of the point. Walt's original idea was to create a park where every member of the family can enjoy rides together. I didn't really internalize this until my mom had to undergo surgery on her eye. Now, she can't ride anything that has any kind of fast or jerky movement. This basically shut out almost every single attraction at Universal for her. Seriously, we made a list of all the things she can do, and there were maybe 2-3 things on there. But Disney is so stacked with slow moving dark rides and shows that she can still enjoy the theme park experience with her kids and doesn't have to spend the day sitting on a bench watching us have fun. She also loves shopping around and enjoying the food. I think Disney in general just has a lot more to do for people who aren't necessarily looking for thrills, or extended families that are looking for whole-family experiences.

    Now how about another category, the alcoholic selections? Lmao. I can name 2 recent-ish trips I had since I became 21 around 4 years ago (I'm 25 rn), and I can still recall both experiences I had being allowed to actually partake in the more adult side of things. Granted I didn't go crazy but I did sample 2 places I wanted to try.
    First in Universal I stopped by an Irish pub themed place called Finnegan's Bar and Grill. The food was nice but I got myself to drink an Apple Pie on the Rocks. Honestly great drink, one of the best I tasted up to that point, tasted how it was advertized, like an alcoholic liquid apple pie. I ended up getting 2 of them lol and I got nice and ripped before hopping onto the Revenge of the Mummy hahaha. Fun time.
    Next I took a visit to Epcot and went to a place I was really looking forward to, I love World Showcase and spent the day going to the individual pavilions (despite the crowds). Once nightfall came and all the beautiful lights went up, I headed over to the Mexican pavilion and went to La Cava del Tequila, a nice cozy little tequila bar tucked into the side of the large temple in the pavilion. There I got myself a small thing of corn chips and queso to snack on and I had also gotten myself a Blood Orange. It was very tasty granted the chile-lime powder the used to coat the rim of my cup wasn't something I was used to lmao. Still the drink itself was very good, nice and tart with a hint of vanilla. A good way to end off the day before the night time show.
    It's hard for me to say who won here, both were great times but I think Disney had overall more interesting and cool options simply due to the nature of World Showcase. Universal still gets major points for the theming of some bars they have at their parks though.

    Shopping is much more unique at Universal as they don't offer much online (I assume due to Disney owning the rights to the Simpsons and Marvel). Therefore, you have to be in the park to buy Universal merchandise. You can get Disney stuff anywhere and therefore everyone has it. Also, the Universal designs are much nicer - just look at their monster or Mardi Gras offerings.

    Very fair and well articulated series of comparisons. I just had a terrible visit to Universal (it seemed like everything was broken down for the two days I visited), but having been there several times before, I normally would agree with your assessment. The only thing I REALLY dislike, is the price of Universal's front-of-line pass system. I know I'm going to sound like an "old guy" but I really miss Disney's free Fast Pass system. Free for everybody. I just don't think I should have to pay well over a hundred dollars, for each person in my party, for each ticket, to be treated like second class citizens, unless I want to pay double.

      @yesorlando05 Před 3 měsíci

      I miss the free fast passes too, and I'm an old guy myself lol (58). The free fast passes worked just fine. It seemed to just be another way to bilk more money from guests, not because they had too, but because they can and enough people are willing to dish out the extra money. Same with all of the parks. But we don't visit Orlando during any peek times and rarely have to wait more than 30 minutes when carefully time when we ride things. To us, the fast passes at all of the parks (including our local Cedar Fair park here in the Charlotte area) are a terrible value. They're more than the admission price itself, which is ridiculous.

    As someone who attended Disney World from 1977 when I was 12 til 2016, SeaWorld 1977-present, and Universal Studios 2002-present, Universal Orlando is definitely a better theme park resort than Disney World in my family's and my opinions (I'm actually visiting US/SW next week from NC). To us, Universal is a much better value in terms of ticket prices, ride-for-ride it's better, much easier to navigate the two parks/Volcano Bay/City Walk/hotels, much more relaxing, the on-site hotels offer a much better value, and Universal stays out of politics. Where I do give Disney the edge is much better night time shows and overall food/restaurant options. When Epic Universe opens next year (we will be there in September 2025), it will quite honestly be the best theme park in the World. We're really looking forward to it.

    These are all fair battles. My take is that it's pretty close right now, but once Epic Universe opens up Universal will take the crown handily. So once EU opens, it will be enough to tip the scales.

    Great video. Hope you redo it when Epic Universe opens. I'd also toss out the flat ride category. Very few people care about flat rides - they are just filler and nothing special, the kind of fare that fills up much of carnivals and regional amusement parks. If anything, flat rides should be a sub-category that contributes towards the kiddie ride point.

  • @joshberninger8355
    @joshberninger8355 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Overall agree with these. Just a few things.
    while Disney has more and varied transportation options it’s out of necessity. Universal just has busses and water taxis because there is no need for monorails, skyways, etc. and their buses and water taxis are more consistent with less waits between I feel.
    Accessibility is better at Disney but that is more because of the type of rides. Higher thrill rides require a greater level of restriction for safety. Still valid point to Disney but gets an asterisk.
    Feel like Epic Universe will flip this too as I could see Universal take theming once it opens and there are a lot of restaurants so has a chance to take food as well.
