    I have all three straps
    1. Alpine loop which is comfortable and don’t leave mark on hand after removing it but removing it is bit hectic and if I remove it quickly than hook dash on display.
It also became wet after gym due to sweating and take bit time to dry.
    2. Ocean band loop is great for rainy season, for water activities, for gym and for other activities but it leaves the mark on hand and also bit irritative.
And positive side is that it quickly get out of the hand.
    3. Trail loop is great non irritative and don’t leave mark too on hand.
    And easy to remove too.
But doesn’t feel much secure as it has velcro strap.
And also it takes time to dry if it became wet.

The Trail Loop actually does have a smoother feeling texture compared to the Sport Loop. The Midnight Blue Loop from when I had a Series 5 (unfortunately it was for the smaller 40mm Apple Watch so I can’t use it with my Ultra like I could with my 41mm Series 7) has a slightly rougher material and while it wasn’t extremely uncomfortable, I’d find that I’d be adjusting the loop every so often to relieve tension and irritation. I haven’t had to do that so far with the Trail Loop and it doesn’t feel fatiguing or irritating to wear even with it being tightened to a snug fit.

I have the Ocean Band (midnight) and the Trail Loop (black).
If I didn’t like the Ocean Band first (the one that came with my Watch Ultra), it is the band I use everyday, regardless if I go swim or dive or not. It is very comfortable for running and calisthenics too. The Trail Loop is very nice and comfortable, but I cannot like it as much as I like the Ocean Band…

  • @MarkManner

I have found that the ocean band works best for me. I have all three, but now only wear the ocean. For me, its slightly more substantial structure balances the watch weight nicely and the watch face stays in place well. It stays in place without having to make it as tight as I need the others to be, and hence is more comfortable to me. I have an average to slightly smaller wrist, but find it to work great. The alpine loop is my second favorite, since it also has more structure than the Trail Loop. I had initially thought the Trail Loop would be my favorite, but because I need to have it tighter than the other two, it actually is the least comfortable to me. FWIW!

    • @davidkeyes919

I am planning to get the Ultra w/ the Ocean Band, not because I am a diver or often swim. But I mainly use the Apple Watch for fitness where I sweat a lot and since I live in hot humid climate where I also sweat often. The Ocean Band would seem to work well w/ wetness and would be easiest to keep clean (planning on the white color). I was guessing that any band made of fabric would eventually tarnish in color. Thanks for the perspective.

  • @homebuiltcamperdave5226

I tried all the ultra bands. The alpine was either too small or too big and was very uncomfortable. The trail loop I was worried the Velcro would wear out and not hold. The silicon one o didn’t like at all. So I bought the braided solo loop even though I had to pay $100. It solved the discomfort problem.
Update 12/22. I ended up returning the braided solo loop. I loved it for a month. Then it started to stretch out and not return to original size. Watch got very loose on my wrist. I tried to return to Apple Store and they said only 2 week window. So I tried some tricks I found online. Put it in boiling water then dry with hot hairdryer or in the sun. That worked for about a week. Finally I made a Genius Bar appointment as this is clear design flaw. It cost $100. Too much to eat without a fight. Manager allowed me to swap it for store credit.
So now I’m wearing the alpine bands. Have the green that came with the watch and orange. I found if you wash them with clothes and then dry with fabric softener they get nice and soft and just a little more stretchy. Now I really like the alpine bands. They are durable and seem to hold up. Guess this is a growth process.

I favor the Ocean band because it’s so much easier to put on and take off. The Alpine loop is a really comfortable band to wear, but I think the latch mechanism is a little kludgey, and it’s prone to scratching other surfaces. I haven’t tried the trail loop but probably will if/when Apple has more colors available. Cheers!

Fair warning with trail loop style, I went jumping off a cliff into a lake this summer and the impact into the water ripped the Velcro strap clean off and I almost lost my watch as it flew off my wrist in the water, it’s my biggest issue with that style strap now. Also the velcro strength goes down over time as well

Thank you for making this video! As a person with small wrists, I was curious as to which band would look best with the gargantuan AW Ultra. One note, though, you are mispronouncing silicone. The Apple Watch band is made of silicone (sill-ih-kohn) while the element silicon (sill-ih-kahn or sill-ih-kn) is used to make computer chips. I must say that a silicon band would be very brittle and quite uncomfortable to wear.

  • @ragetobe

The Alpine loop is the only band you could wear all day and trust not to fall off, this is a very expensive watch and the Trail loop does in fact catch on just about everything. I water ski, hydrofoil, dive and swim all year round so the Ocean band is on for those sports because no other band even comes close to the Ocean band for those activities. That being said, I have a stainless steel strap from Amazon that was £22 and it looks the same colour as my Ultra, I get compliments on it every time I wear it when I say it is as good as the Apple stainless steel watch strap I mean it.

You have a 160mm wrist. I know the Ocean band only comes in one size, but the other 2 come in multiple sizes. What size bands did you try on in the Alpine and Trail loop?

@@mikegm6326 My wrist is 185mm (aprox 7.5 inches). At least based on my measurement. I went to the Apple store to see which band fit best for me.
In the Alpine, a medium will work for me. With a tight fit, the buckle is at the bottom of my wrist. This would be what I consider a classic look, but I didn't want it that way because I'm work behind a computer all day and didn't want the buckle scraping anything. The Large Alpine band puts the buckle on the thumb side of my wrist, which is perfect for me.
I also tried the Ocean band, which is one size fits all. Personally, I wish that band was a bit thinner. It felt really bulky.
Trail band, I do plan on eventually getting one becasue it felt the best. With my 185mm wrist, the M/L is what I will get.

@@crabjoe but dont it get loose over the years it might get furly because of the velcro after 3 t0 5 years? For the trail loop..

    • @crabjoe
      @crabjoe Před rokem

@@odesmatt9887 It'll probably loosen up, but it can't loosen up that much where I can't just pull the velcro up the band a bit more. If I remember correctly, I still had around a 1/2 inch more to tighten up. If the trail loop stretches that much, it's a design flaw on Apple's part.

I was a stockbroker in the 1980s and read a report from the New York Stock Exchange about what people look for in their broker. The broker makes me money was number four! Number one was I like them. So. You're a nice guy with a pleasant voice. Your presentation is well organized, direct, clear, and effective. Thanks for the information about the bands. I had a similar take. And you? You have a new subscriber!

Hi there, greetings from singapore. I am an eyewear enthusiast, I find that Lindberg is one of the best quality frames I have ever used. How would you rank them? Also I have a Dita Flight 7 that I really like and a Chrome Hearts Crystal Frame that I love. What do you think about them?
Hope to hear from you soon.

I have to disagree. I tried all three. I don't do much water sports but do hiking, runs and gym workouts. I have no issue with the Ocean band. It is secure and my heart rate is more accurate than using the old Series 8 with the standard sports band. The Ocean band also looks the best, especially for work and workout.
Alpine and Trail look super cheap in comparison. The alpine loop is ridiculously difficult to take on and off. Even though I only take off my watch once a day, I also detest it so much. They also feel very insubstantial. I am not sure why people would complain about the weight of the band when they are going for the heaviest Apple watch. If you want light, just go for Series 9. I doubt the regular person actually uses the extra Ultra functionality. Surely there aren't that many pro-level athletes around. So the main reason to go for the Ultra is because you like the bigger screen and the looks of it.

If you are using the watch for what it has been design for, sports, then i don’t see the logic behind the trail or alpine. If you work up a sweat during exercise then those two will be grubby and disgusting before long. The ocean band will be clean following a quick rinse or shower. Surprised Apple pushed the fabric for such a watch?
