  • When the weathers ordinary and the fish are shut down getting them to bite can be a challenge, especially for lure anglers. Barramundi in particular are notoriously finicky feeders and have driven many an angler crazy trying to work out how to get them to bite.
    This video looks at a simple strategy for those tough days that can be the difference between catching fish... or not! It also looks at a basic rigging tip and some great barramundi topwater action.
    It's only an addiction if you want to give it up... Catch Ya!

    Gday mate, I’m new to salt water fishing, I’ve always wanted to catch a Barra…. I’m heading up to cairns now, any tips? Bait or lure?
    New sub here and tight lines brother 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

    • @sportfishingjunkie
      @sportfishingjunkie  Před měsícem

      I’m a lure guy mate so can pretty much only comment on that… although a lot is transferable to bait. Lot a different ways to target Barra but happy to put up a few basics to point ya in right direction. Being winter mornings will be tough so target the afternoon low tides in shallows to find warmer pockets. Look for bait and patches of dirty water where the Barra can hide. Lot assume Barra are always on snags but 80% of mine are in open water where warm pockets, food and dirty water meet. As for lures… everything eats a prawn and I use a lot of prawn style lures. Don’t fish Cairns much so can’t help location wise but plenty of areas to work lures up there. Hope this helps… feel free to reach out if you have any other Q’s… and good luck 🍀🎣

    What time is good for barramundi fishing with zman

      Key to barra is understanding their habits. Some call them lazy but I prefer instinctive and energy efficient. In really simple terms... ingnore the time of day, work out what they are feeding on, and then where and when their food source will come to them. Do that and you'll catch'em. 🎣

    How did u rig that zman surface lure?

    • @sportfishingjunkie
      @sportfishingjunkie  Před 10 měsíci

      Hey mate... with an unweighted TT 6/0 chinlockz EWG hook mate. 5/0 is a good size but I like the 6/0 for a bit more strength. I use a bit if thin copper wire to bridle the chin so it doesn't slide around. 🎣🎣

    Hi bro no need to use jighead

    • @sportfishingjunkie
      @sportfishingjunkie  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Not for surface... I prefer EWG hook and if I need a little weight I tie a small ball sinker in loop knot. 🎣

      Hey mate… currently I run a Samaki skitch X rod (701ML… or 701M for bigger fish) with a shimano stradic ci4 3000, which is no longer on the market, so I’ve switched to a shimano Vanford 3000. Standard braid is 20lb Schneider but I drop to 15lb in open water to achieve longer casts. Leader is 30-50lb Schneider fluro depending on size of soft plastic and fish. Hope that’s useful mate thanks for asking. Catch ya 🎣
