3 Barra Lures I Can't Live Without (in Hinchinbrook)
zhlédnutí 876Před 16 hodinami
The old saying... 'Lures catch more fishermen than fish'... could not be truer. I For years I built an eclectic collection of barramundi lures in an attempt to find that silver barra bullet. Well guess what... it doesn't exist! I've come to realise that confidence in what I was doing and having just a handful of lures that cover particular techniques (topwater, shallow diving, paddletail etc) i...
Flats Fishing the Zerek Live Mullet

Apology for the gloomy look of this video... it was a cold, miserable, overcast, and rainy day and despite several editing attempts this was the best that could be achieved. The fish were also playing hardball however there were a few ready to be fooled by one of my favourite larger fish profile soft plastics... the Zerek Live Mullet. • @sportfishingjunkie
      @sportfishingjunkie Před 7 dny

      @@damiansutton-od5ed happy to provide a little local knowledge mate. Southern end is better. Both ends are a little exposed and tidal but Lucinda is less tidal, less exposed and has more options. I fish the middle of the channel a lot but you’ll find barra throughout if you know where and when. Where… Dirty water (and dirty water lines) and bait are key. They will rest up on structure so snag bashing is an option but IMHO over rated. So wind blown mud & Rocky foreshores are good. When… couple hours either side of low are good windows, particularly if low is in the arvo and the shallows warm up. So long as you don’t expect to nail a dozen Barra first morning and you’re persistent you’ll find them. It’s my back yard and if I average 1 fish per hour I’m happy. For visitors 1-2 fish per day is probably better than par. The upside is plenty of bycatch to keep you occupied. Good luck mate 🍀🎣

      I’m a lure guy mate so can pretty much only comment on that… although a lot is transferable to bait. Lot a different ways to target Barra but happy to put up a few basics to point ya in right direction. Being winter mornings will be tough so target the afternoon low tides in shallows to find warmer pockets. Look for bait and patches of dirty water where the Barra can hide. Lot assume Barra are always on snags but 80% of mine are in open water where warm pockets, food and dirty water meet. As for lures… everything eats a prawn and I use a lot of prawn style lures. Don’t fish Cairns much so can’t help location wise but plenty of areas to work lures up there. Hope this helps… feel free to reach out if you have any other Q’s… and good luck 🍀🎣
