  • Learning a back tension shot is difficult. So what if you want to punch the trigger instead? In this video, I explain why punching isn't so bad in itself but rather some common habits that could follow it that can make it bad. And, some common fixes for better shooting if one would rather punch that trigger.

Great teaching, I lost 3 arrows in one week because of this problem.... 3 expensive arrows😐😑😩

Good info. How do you feel moving to a back tension has helped in the hunting aspects of archery? I have always felt that with the uneven ground, angles, moving targets have never been ideal for back tension releases- cause odds are in the heat of the moment needing to make the shot happen all the level ground practice with proper form gets thrown out the window... do you feel that after moving from trigger to back tension hunting the most skiddish animals around?

good question. I thought the same thing about instances of “needing to get the shot off” kind of deal and a back tension type of shot maybe not being conducive to achieving that. I’ve seen some explain all kinds of things with this aspect but a few things I’ve experienced I have not yet seen on other media yet. I think I’ll do a vid on that. I believe there’s more to it than just the time it takes to shoot that some might not consider.

Can you discuss proper anchor for thumb button release and face pressure

have you seen nockontv content with anchor? I almost wouldn’t explain it much different than Dudley does. Few little nuance things in there that folks will have to personalize but I pretty much do the split between the pointer and middle finger along the jawbone. how far back and how far forward is very personal and some considerations with rear elbow alignment to point of arrow may be something to consider. good video topic too.
