I was just in prison for the last 5 years, and I had access to podcasts, I heard this on tvgp's dynamic soundtrack, I grew up on 16 bit rpgs, I knew nothing about this, and I probably listened to this 150 times, it brought me to tears at least half of those, so amazing. I'm out now I HAVE to play this game.

I took Hikari as my main, and Bandelam was my first big boss, and GODDAMN ! When this track kicked off, and I got to phase 2, with his giant sprite, I felt I was facing an absolute god of death in armor (not helping it was actually the first one I died a couple of times against) ! One of the most memorable boss encounters of the whole game for me !

I really appreciate what you did with these videos, the transitions really complete the song. By themselves the, songs for the boss battles are amazing, but with the transitions they just go to a whole new level.
Such an amazing game! Hikari’s story was nuts and yet even after going through all the stories, Agnea is still my favourite character. I love it when her southern accent comes out 💯
I can't help but tear up when I hear this, genuinely a masterpiece of music. The choir, the guitar, the drums, the whole flow... To anyone who thinks that video game music isn't real music, please play Octopath 1 and 2 and get back to me. Edit with new suggestions, other games with incredible soundtracks: Guilty Gear, Undertale, Metal Gear Rising, Bravely Default, Xenoblade, Persona, and any and all soundtracks and compositions from Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu. You guys have amazing taste in music!
I hate people who say that. Some of my favorite songs are genuinely videogame music. The Persona Series, this game and Octopath 1, guilty gear, Undertale, Metal Gear Rising, so many games have such wonderful soundtracks and it's upsetting to hear such comments

Hikari's story was THE best. I had a great time doing Throné's all the way up until the end where it just got creepy to be creepy. It really fell off. The only bad thing I can even say about his path was that the final boss was THREE PHASES LONG (four if you include the fight right before, but you can heal right before that one so I don't)
I had a similar thought. Started with Hikari and took Agnea, Throné and temenos for my first team and went through them in that order. When I got to the final boss for Hikari I was asking why I had to keep fighting back to back to back. Second fight wasn't too hard of course but I was near death when I beat the first one. Thankfully I found the third fight to be easier to an extent. But then when I got to Throné, all I could ask is why. Going to that area and seeing all the npcs and getting to the final boss was just what, what, what. Then when I saw the final boss talking about his story I was like "well this is super important and won't be elaborated on till the true final boss" and lo and behold it wasn't explained. Still goung through the game now though so I have learned nothing. Doing all the side quests before I finish the final crossed paths and whatever is left afterwards to get to the true final boss.
Throne's story wasn't intended to be creepy, it's supposed to be weird and depressing, which it accomplished. If you're not used to Square Enix weirdness, then it probably doesn't hit for you.

I had a great time with hikaris story but the last bosses frustrated me so much it kind of ruined it for me. I did quite like Thronés story including the last chapter. I do get the "creepy just to be creepy" part but it was executed really well imo

Why does the woman ask you to kill her baby with no explanation and what about the other npc who’s description is literally just death corruption destruction a million times. Not to mention the entire first half you hear a crying baby. It was obviously meant to be creepy. I’m fine with that, what I don’t understand is why they couldn’t have explained it?? It’s quite annoying with no explanation.
I'm inclined to agree, his Passive ability to learn attacks from duels just make him a fearsome character, around mid-game he was able to kill bosses in just 1 attack if i spent the first couple turns breaking, buffing and debuffing, its silly
The counter melee with provok makes him just broken. Its passive high damage in long fight that break anything adding the one that incrase dmg based on foe buff.

It's this song, right before the fight against Rai Mei, it all clicked at once.
This is the best music ever put in a video game.
She is an tough boss battle as hell, until you stole some light and shadow stones to take down her guards and the fight becames a bit easy

Very true, I love breaking enemies then letting Hikari go ham with Reckless Slash with full BP, it's so satisfying.
