The first section is in the announcement trailer and for the second part I used the motif from hikaris battle track Intro showcased at the TGS

Probably me.
He's the best one to start with, as his 1st chapter ends with him resolving to find allies to aid in his fight, giving a seriously compelling motivation for him to seek out the other travellers and making the game feel like one big story with him as the main character.

This theme sounds like something that would be fit the soundtrack of Legend of Korra.
Is this based on Japan, Korea or China? I know the Japanese made this game, but is the setting of Hakari Japanese?
That's actually a good question I would've said japanese based on the katana amongst other things but I haven't really looked into it
I'm fairly sure it's japanese since the sword he uses is a Katana and not a Geom, Jian, or Dao and although there are other Korean and Chinese swords the later didn't look like katanas and the former adopted katanas during the Ming Dynasty and from what I looked up they didn't have the same hilt.
My prediction is that the region Hikari is from is combination of Japan and China. Weapon wise, it seems to be mostly Japan with Katana and i think Naginata in the gameplay trailer, in terms of architechture it is China inspired with fortress city, the castle that have Chinese style throne room (Japanese emperor dont really have a big throne room in my opinion at least until Meiji restoration, since Japanese emperors do not have political power for most of Japan history before Meiji restoration, even after Meiji, the throne room is Western inspired rather than Japanese or Chinese design) and thr castle also use colour palletes that morr commonly used by the Chinese such as red for interior (Japanese colour pallete tend to be more neutral, such as white or woody colour). I also notice that the clothing and hairstyle could be a mix with a little lean on Chinese (Japanese hairstyle at least for edo period which is tend to be a popular base for feudal Japan portrayal are not commonly like Hikari, although its not impossible that it exist)
It's based on Japanese culture throughout, but some enemies in Chapter 1 are inspired by Mongolians.
It becomes more obvious at the end of his story.
Hikari's homeland seems to be modeled after ancient western China
i actually slightly prefer this to the ridiculously amazing original, it feels a bit more deep and honorable
