I recognize the steel door jam and hasp on the bunker from an earlier video. Nice Better Homes and Gardens tour of the interior! I would recommend wearing snake chaps especially around old boards and such at homestead sites. Of course it is the snake you don't see that will get you. I hunt and I am a believer in PETA -- people enjoying tasty animals -- but no bueno blasting snakes unless they are around camp, then adios! Outside of camp, if you see them and have the time to shoot, you have the time to avoid them. In the spring and early summer ticks are a problem and the main vector for ticks is rodents. The snakes keep the rodent population suppressed greatly reducing the tick population. Snakes and coyotes keep the range healthy by controlling rodents who would otherwise "over graze" the meager desert vegetation. Each to their own, but you could just load that piece with .22 LR for mild personal protection. Not a bad idea out where 911 is you. Anyway, cool channel. Rant over!
Funny you mention that, I switch between those two ammos throughout the trips. For all the homestead explorations, it's pest control. Any other time it's 22 Mag.
I've certainly come across snakes and have not had a reason to RIP one yet. But, it's a tool in the tool box just in case it's me or him :)

I just found your channel and I have a question about your hunt for homesteads. Are these dated from Oregon Trail era or is there some other reason for the existence of the abandoned homesteads? Thanks
Thank you for the question. Most of the activity in the Oregon desert was around 1862-1950. Most were a result of the 1862 Homestead Act. Very few families made it more than a few years before moving to the Portland area. Today the land is mostly BLM and privately owned for farming and or ranching.
Really interesting. It’s always nice to have a goal or project that drives our interest in 4 wheeling.
