  • The upgrade is really worth the small effort to install it!!!!
I decided to upgrade my 14" JET Delux Pro bearings.
The Carter upgrade will set you back 200 US dollars, but well worth it.

It is really easy to install them and will only take minutes.
Watch as I explain the 'Gotchas' and tips on the installation process. It really is very easy to install them.

Steve. Your 14" Pro already has a quick release so you don't need Carter to make one. More important, your blade guard can be used if you replace that 1" round post with the longer one shown in your kit.

Thanks for chiming in on this video David.
I will look into your second comment at some point.
I recall being very impressed watching Alex S using the quick release when at the NJ woodshow some time ago

Hey Steve, really appreciate the video. I also have the same bandsaw and need to upgrade the guide. Being a few years later and wiser, do you still recommend the same Carter kit you attached on the video? Any chance they made a newer version with a longer casing to cover the entire 12” of the blade?

Hello Greg, I have had success also with the Carter stabilizers

Excellent. With your replacement, did you not end up using the blade cover? That’s my one concern from the upgrade kit - it only covers half the blade.

Steve, I have had the assumption that a bearing guide is a bearing guide and although different in appearance there is little benefit of one over the other. What am I missing?

      Hello h,
I did not give too much thought to how fast my JET factory bearings were doing as this is my first JET 14" pro band saw.
I had to replace the bearings after about 3 years. So I would say. That being said I now have my own reference point.
I am not an aggressive user but do make a lot of Band saw boxes.
I will report back at the one year point and advise on their operation.
