  • Video covers replacing cooktop lights on a Kenmore microwave model number 790.8034. Instruction manual lists part number 5304464090 for replacement bulbs. These bulbs are pricey ($26-$35) each. I found a Belleone two pack part number 6912W1Z004B on Amazon for $8. Links to items mentioned in the video:

We have this exact same microwave. Very powerful.
But the thing is these under-lights get SO HOT to the point we are scared to leave them on overnight like I always have done in the past. It seems to be a thing with this particular microwave or bulbs, or maybe I just notice it more now.

      Good information, thanks for posting.

I don't think leaving them ON overnight is a good idea. They are incandescent, after all.

what if replacing the bulb doesn't work? When the old bulb went bad, first it shone extra bright, then there was a large "pop". Is there a fuse involved? Note that everything else is fine with the microwave oven.

I've tried several different bulbs and none work as a replacement. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is you may have a bad bulb base.
