I still come back to these from time to time. We may be back at work and out in our communities again but man these were such special gifts and warm hugs from the band. Still serving us all.
You sir are not allowed to sound like that if you're singing from your bedroom...it's not fair to other humans. Thanks for the poetry over the many years I've been a fan.
Guy's voice is amazing, but having a super expensive microphone and audio setup really helps. I also love that they didn't overdo the reverb and such on the microphone for all of this. A lot of these intimate at home CZcams videos of the pandemic sound like they are singing to an empty Royal Albert Hall and its so off putting.
@@qbaker20 others also have expensive gear at their homes and don't sound as good...This being said, I get what you're saying...It is very nice when home recordings by big artists are amateurish, it's more personal.
This song is one of my first memories of Elbow. I remember buying this CD to listen to it on the way to your concerts at Pinkpop and in Amsterdam, next to my dad in the car all the way from Leeuwarden. We used to do the whistling part as loud as we possibly could every time! Very fond memories and we hope to see you guys again very soon. Beautiful assembly as always and thank you for the time and effort to keep us all entertained. Best regards from The Netherlands
Been waiting to see what today would bring on my 60th birthday. What a treat to listen to this. Thank you chaps for the wonderful music during these extraordinary times.
I met him in Manchester City centre I was with my mum and sister and brother in law after a brief chat we went our separate ways and my mum said he’s nice is that your mate ..... oh mum if only you knew 😂😂
I've bumped into him whilst having a quiet beer in The Temple bar in Manchester. What a gentleman he was for spending the few minutes he did chatting. Long live Elbow.
Just when I thought I couldn't cry any harder for this song. "Nobody knows me at home anymore," strikes extra deep in quarantine. Thanks all for putting this video together.
Every time I watch this video I hum along with the choir. There's a blonde girl in the top row who looks like she is crying through the whole thing. I'm right there with her. My God, what a beautiful song.
It doesn't get any better than this. To produce such beauty in isolation is truly inspirational. Thank you for your artistry, which always lifts me up.
Perhaps the most perfect depiction of my youth in the 80s as I ever could imagine, and one so beautifully realised in this ensemble. From an album of remembrance and reflection that helped me through the dark times following the loss of my wife ten years ago. Thank you all: Om shanti; be well.
God, I wish I could still listen to that song, it was me and my grandma's song, the day she passed away I was listening to that song, I never knew what loss felt like before then.
Ah man, it's been some weeks since I shed some happy tears. Absolutely lovely and one of those songs you need. Build a Rocket Boys is a big part of the heart of one of my novels about a young boy who dreams about flying. BARB is an album that makes me smile and helped me channel my grandfather in some scenes. This song particularly always gets to me. It's very special to me and encourages more than you know. On days when you're down and don't know if you're doing things right or if you'll make it (whatever the hell that means), I listen to this song to remind me to Build a Rocket, create, let go of the words, and do it with joy. Kindest thanks. This has been absolutely stellar and tonight I'll raise a pint in your name. Cheers, lads. You've also helped keep spirits up for much longer than a pandemic.
Lovely thoughts :) I've had aspirations to write for a while. I recently lost my grandfather, affectionately known to old friends and students as "The Guru," and I feel like I realized that everything he was to me is still within me, and I am able to channel that light on occasion. Also, I absolutely adore the song and band. Just wanted to say that your sentiments echo very deeply within me.
Thank you all for sharing this with us. It is simply beautiful and so very touching. It does make me wonder if due to COVID restrictions I will ever sing in a choir again, something I really miss .... singing alto just isn't the same!
Absolutely superb. Keep it going guys, these tunes lift the spirits in these tricky times. Can I request My Sad Captains or Fly Boy Blue / Lunette. Cheers
Incredible craftsmanship throughout. Amazing outputs even though separation. A sign of a true unit. You guys are truly unique. Not an easy journey, but an incredible destination.
The quality of these #elbow rooms are so gorgeous. Lippy Kids lyrical warmth shines through! Beautiful. Can’t wait for next week...maybe My Sad Captains? 🤞🏼
Just wonderful. A lovely song made even more by the choir. That lyric "nobody knew me at home anymore" gets me everytime. Again, just wonderful. Thanks so much for ssharing.Stay safe.
One of the best for sure.....Massive Attack, Radiohead, Elbow, The Verve, Portishead, some of the quintessentially British bands that could only have come from a small island in North Atlantic....that for some reason has always knocked out some banging tunes....
One of my all time favourites this one; so softly reproduced. My long-term take on the lyrics has been shattered however. ..I always heard " build a rocking horse, build a rocking horse. A rocket doesn't quite hold the same magic in my imagination!
How kind to include young talented people. Elbow is a unique band to think in their public ( listeners) actually, they (Elbow) believes we all build this world. Thank you very much boys !!!
How could anyone vote this down? Even if you don't like the song this is an absolutely perfect recording of it. Elbow live has got to be such an experience.
Yay!! Lippy Kids!!! Yay!! Lippy Kids!!! Whoo hooooo. Big sighy eyes here. Beautiful, simply beautiful. Need more words adding to the dictionary to express just how wondrous that truly was. 😇😎🤗
thankyouthankyouthankyouTHANKYOU Elbow, you are the first band I ever saw live and you will continue to inspire me for the rest of my life. Huge amount of love to you all x
I think this might well be the most beautiful memory I'll take with me of the unsettling, confronting and perplexing CV19 era. Thank you, and thank you to the 22 singers/hummers.
Great stuff. Classic Elbow. The choir were awesome. Thanks all. Request : Fly Boy Blue/Lunette. I love the poetry of Elbow's songs but the Lunette part blows everything out of the water.
Thank you very much. Not only delighted that you played this but that you were kind enough to list those of us who requested it. That must have been a task trawling through the comments to compile the names. Made my day so thanks again.
Wonderful stuff as ever. A request for either Kindling or (if I'm allowed a second choice) The Blanket of Night. Or .... ummmm .... the obvious one, y'know.
I am finally out of the woods with the virus. I’m not 100% yet, but I’m feeling good enough to sit behind my kit and start working on material that was sent my way before things went awry. During this whole time these videos have really given me hope and nourished me. Always been a fan, but the love I feel when watching these gave me strength so many nights laying on my stomach gasping for air. Thank you so much from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. So inspiring boys ❤️
Once again, perfection! Thank you elbow and to the Hallé choir for this beautiful performance. Thank you for recording these songs for your fans. Waking up to your videos on Friday mornings during this Pandemic has certainly been a highlight for me. Stay well! x
You guys are amazing...you’re killing it in this format! Please “The Loneliness of a tower crane driver”, “I’ve got your number” and “The Take off and landing of everything”. I love you guys thank you for the joy!!!
Always reminds me of my beautiful son,and me wanting the best in life for him & not to make the same mistakes I've made, missed opportunities, lost dreams, so so powerful love it💖 Not forgetting my daughter....but magnificent is the one that reminds me of her, highly emotional, always brings a lump to the throat and a tear to my eye, my kids have grown up on this wonderful stuff, happy memories of before I was unwell, when life was magical, until prescription medication screwed my life and robbed me of the freedom of good health, shattered dreams...make the most of it if you can, be kind, live alot and follow your dreams x
Thanks for all the lovely renditions guys, they've been really beautiful. That's all the emotion I'm at liberty to share, also being a northern man. Take care, keep healthy and happy. And thanks for wearing the black and gold shirt Guy. It was top of my favourites list! Adiós. X
I was there at Manchester Cathedral back in 2011 and I thought that that performance of Lippy Kids could never be matched. Well now it has. Was going through a really hard time back then and that night helped me and my wife get through the loss of our 2 month old son only 4 months previous to it.
He opens his mouth and the first note, tears are in my eyes. Guy Garvey's voice moves me like no other.
Same!
I lasted 'til the choir!
What a lovely way to view the naughty lads on the end of the street that a lot of us have been and since forgotten about.

@@leppytoopyfuck368 yeah I agree think more Irish than British only kidding love Tom yorke
@Jordan Reynolds didn’t say greatest pal
This is so beautiful. The choir and all their faces.. I’m gonna rewatch this at least five times. Now let me wipe the tears away..
Right!
Same here... Tears'n all.

Happy birthday Gerald!
It's also my birthday too! Happy birthday
happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, man!
Happy Birthday sir :)
I met him in Manchester City centre I was with my mum and sister and brother in law after a brief chat we went our separate ways and my mum said he’s nice is that your mate ..... oh mum if only you knew 😂😂
I met them in Oakland, CA. Could not have been a nicer group of people. Totally down to earth and happy to engage with an over excited fan.
I've bumped into him whilst having a quiet beer in The Temple bar in Manchester. What a gentleman he was for spending the few minutes he did chatting. Long live Elbow.
I love the warmth of Guy's Northern hues and tones. It's comforting and sincere. I proud to be a northerner too.
Just when I thought I couldn't cry any harder for this song. "Nobody knows me at home anymore," strikes extra deep in quarantine. Thanks all for putting this video together.
Those lyrics are absolute perfection. Some of the best lyrics I've ever heard
Every time I watch this video I hum along with the choir. There's a blonde girl in the top row who looks like she is crying through the whole thing. I'm right there with her. My God, what a beautiful song.
Actually makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end, when the choir come in. Fantastic!
A reminder of the beauty we can create together... even when apart.
Very beautiful!
Request: "My Sad Captain"
They've stopped doing them now
Oh God yes!
Goodness me this is so moving. I’m not crying, you are....
Anyday when you hear at least one Elbow track...is a good day. Thanks for the smiles chaps.

Gosh it's hard to type through the tears. So beautiful. Thank you very much.
Absolutely incredible and amazing to have the choir on the track as well. These Elbow Rooms are keeping everyone going.
Everyday I play " One Day Like This" just to keep my sanity.
I couldn't agree more, Marianna!! This tune just totally lifts my spirits too. Good shout 🎶😊❤️
God, I wish I could still listen to that song, it was me and my grandma's song, the day she passed away I was listening to that song, I never knew what loss felt like before then.
Just simply wonderful. Thank you for all these videos you're making, and please make #elbowrooms album available to purchase :-)
Can you even imagine trying to keep it together singing in the choir? No voice would come out of me….just tears.
When the choir comes in... floored 🥺😍🥰😘
I used to like ·Elbow a lot, now I love it more than anything else. Thank you for such wonderful pieces of art.
Bloody hell I'm floating away.
Where no idea.💥💥💥💥💥💥
STUNNING in its sheer beauty and simplicity of harmony. Nothing else I can say. SUBLIME xx
I love these videos. Elbow keep me sane even in normal times, and especially during this craziness. Thank you chaps!
Covered in Goosebumps before he even sings. Pure poetry, perfection and love
I get a tear in the corner of my eye and my soul feels like it could explode whenever I hear this song... thanks x

Beyond wonderful. This Blue world please ! I may not be worthy of acknowledging but Doctor Paul is ....
Sounds like something that simply wasn't made in this world........so beautiful.
