Here are the two recipes I made! They were both yummy!
STRAWBERRY SMASH MUFFINS:
1 2/3 cups fresh strawberries, rinsed and stems removed
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line 12 cup muffin tin with liners or grease cups. Smash the strawberries in a large bowl with a fork. Stir in sugar, oil and eggs and mix well. Add flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon and mix until moistened. Spoon batter into muffin cups. Bake for 15 minutes, or until muffins are light golden brown.
BLUEBERRY LEMON BREAD:
1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries, rinsed
1 teaspoon lemon juice (for blueberries)
1 teaspoon sugar (for blueberries)
1 tablespoon flour (for blueberries)
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), melted
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1 teaspoon lemon extract (optional, but adds a nice punch of lemon)
1/2 cup whole milk
For the glaze: (I halved this, and it was plenty)
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare loaf pan. Put blueberries in a small bowl and add 1 tablespoon each of lemon juice, sugar and flour. Give a good toss and set aside.
In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk sugar and eggs until blended. Gradually mix in melted butter, followed by the lemon juice, lemon zest, and lemon extract.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating adding the milk in as well, mix until well blended.
Stir half the blueberries into the batter and quickly pour into loaf pan. Gently spread the rest of the blueberries on top of the batter and place in the oven. Bake 50-60 minutes or until done. Remove from oven and cool for 30 minutes.
Make the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, melted butter and lemon juice. Pour over cooled loaf and let it set up. Enjoy!

There is nothing better in my mind than a chocolate dipped strawberry... YUM
Fruit cozies 🍓
Love the fruit theme!! So summery ☀️🍓
🍓🍓🍓🍓
I love a good cozy mystery! I don’t put anything on my muffins typically. Every now and then I do butter. Those strawberry muffins look yummy. The lemon blueberry bread looks really good too. I love all things lemon. 🍋 Fun vlog!
YUMMY I love blueberry lemon... well lemon anything but they sound awesome
That lemon blueberry loaf looks incredible!! Adding that series to my list also.
It was so yummy!😋
I like butter on my muffins but that peanut butter look good
Love your strawberry sweater and the Beetlejuice shirt!! Sidenote-I’m so excited for the new Beetlejuice movie!! 🎉
Me too! 👏👏
I love lemon things, too!! 🫐🍋 Sounds so good!!
It was seriously delicious! And I may have eaten almost the whole loaf by myself!🤭 Not all at once. 😂
I try to be very particular with the cozy I put on my TBR, because I definitely think there are some duds out there! I’m glad you ended up finding some good ones and some delicious recipes! 💛
Girl I need to pay closer attention. 👀🤣
I have a strawberry obsession too, they remind me of my Grammy!!
Awe I love that! 🍓❤️
“What do you put on your muffins?” 🤣 ummm, nothing! 🤷♀️😂 but I love that you out peanut butter on them! 😋
😂😂
Strawberries are the best, especially dipped in chocolate ;) I've not been lucky with the cozy mysteries I've read so far, which is a shame because Agatha Christie is a huge favourite of mine. I know how it feels when there is a language you don't understand dropped into a book. I've been reading Charlotte Brontë and she really loves French!!
Yeah, it makes it hard to have a good reading flow when words trip us up. 😄I hope you find a good cozy soon!
Love your strawberry sweater!!!! 😍🍓
Thank you! 😊
Strawberry Lane was going for air of mystery 😂
😂
“In a boat with a goat”
Makes me think of “I do not like green eggs and ham”…😂😂
Same! It was cracking me up! 😆
I’m so bad at reading synopsis of books. I legit just grab them all the time by covers and recommendation’s 😂😂
I have got to get better at that and checking the ratings on Goodreads. 🤔
I wanna go to a festival right now
I love festivals! Not so much all the people there but the food! 😋😂
Interesting that you DNF'd the mango one. I believe the author said she sold the rights to make that one into a movie. Dying for Strawberries is well loved by a lot of cozy mystery readers that I know. They all gave it 5 stars. Not sure if I want to pick this one up. I do like Lake Michigan cozies which is why it appeals to me. I picked up Murder at a Blueberry Festival because it reminded me of my childhood going to Michigan and getting blueberries. The ending is super unique for a cozy. I never would have guessed it. I know cozy mystery readers that didn't like it because of the ending and I understand that but it's refreshing to explore something different every once in a while. I do love the Beacon Bakeshop series a lot but I DNF'd Darci Hannah's cherry series which I thought I would love because of the cherry theme. I love peanut butter and a PB&Js but I never put it on a muffin. I need to try that. I don't know if you have picked all of your Christmas cozies for July but I highly recommend the Christmas Tree Farm series by Jacqueline Frost aka Julie Anne Lindsay.
I actually would probably like the Mango one if it's a movie. It just didn't have a good flow for me. I agree with the unique ending for murder at the blueberry festival. I was also not expecting it, but I rather enjoyed it. I haven't picked all the books for my Christmas in July cozy vlog yet, and it just so happens that I have Twelve slays of Christmas marked as want to read, so I will add that! Thanks for the recommendation!
@@Julesbooksandthings Yay! I hope you love it as much as I did! I can’t wait to hear what you think! 🎄🎅 It’s so hot, I may read some Christmas books in July too!
@@catreadsbooksYes! We’ll have to envision a winter wonderland. ❄️☃️😆
I'm not a big fan of the cozies where the main characters are overly aggressive either. I can't think of which ones, but I've read a few like that. Its hard to be on their side when they're being jerks to everyone.
